Things that excite me about becoming a teenager are, that my parents will finally begin to trust that
I’m able to make responsible choices meaning, I will be able to go out with friends. I’m also excited that
my decisions and comments in family discussions will finally be taken into consideration since I’m no
longer considered a child. During my teen years, I will be able to choose different hairdos or fashion
styles when I feel like it because my parents are letting me find my dislikes and likes. Being a teenager is
great because it is the only time in life when you can blame immaturity on ‘I‘m still learning’ when
convenient. So I’m able to somewhat enter the teen life without having to take on all of the
responsibilities that come with it. In conclusion, having my comments considered in a conversation and
having freedom of choice is what excites me of becoming a teen.
Things that that concern me about being a teenager are, for one I’ll soon be going off to high school
and there are many challenges that will come my way as I enter like, having to make new friends, and
having to deal with potential bullying. I’m also concerned about the intense pressure of school since we
have so much going on in our final year. I find that the lack of self-esteem in teens is really concerning
because everyone feels as if pointing out someone else’s insecurities is okay or funny. Lastly, I find that
there is huge pressure on teens to begin being mature is concerning because we start acting too grown,
and skip the actual joy of being a teen. In conclusion school, self-esteem and insecurities, and pressure
against maturity are what really concern me about being a teenager.
