Q 1. Explain in depth about the communication
process.
Communication process is a system where an information or data is
transmitted through a channel to a receiver, while overcoming the
barrier that may affect the pace of information. Process of
communication is like a cycle and it start with the sender when sender
transmits information and end with the sender when receiver gives a
feedback. The process is continuous and dynamic which can affect or
get affected by many variables. It consists of some essential steps
where each step is responsible for an effective communication.
Different essential elements in the process of
communication.
Sender-
Sender is the foundation and source of the entire communication
process, sender can transmit the data or an information through
picture, postures, gestures, verbal, written in such a manner that a
receiver can understand the information
Message-
Messages are the information that are conveyed through words,
pictures, verbal, writing, symbols depending on the nature of
information.
Encoding-
It is process where sender categorize a way to transmit the message in
which it suits the receiver and nature of the information. Choosing a
right mode i.e. symbol, pictures, words etc. is an important step in the
communication process as wrong and inappropriate encoding may
defeat the true intent of the communication process.
Channel-
Channel is a common platform that hold both sender and receiver and
support the nature of encoded message. It can be an app, computer,
telephone, television, etc.
Receiver-
Receiver is a person for whom the message is been designed and
delivered. The receiver can be a listener, viewer or a reader. Negligence
at the receiver end can make the communication process ineffective.
As an important factor in the process the receiver must be in fit
condition and keenly interested in receiving the message.
Decoding-
It is done at the receiver’s end, it simply means after receiving the
message how he/she interprets the message and try to understand it in
best possible manner.
Feedback-
It is an important and final accept of the entire process, it is a response
to the message send by the sender. It ensures that the message has
been successfully delivered and effectively encoded. There are many
types of responses such as positive, negative, neutral, suggestive etc.
Communication process is not that easy as it looks. To make the entire
process happen, all elements have to function properly with perfect
Sender->Message->Encoding->Channel=>Receiver->Decoding -
>Feedback->Sender.
Q2. Case study
Q2(A). Whom do you think Gajindar will eat
with? Why?
Gajindar must have eaten with his friends who where sitting on the left
corner of the room.
In the 10th line of the paragraph it states, Gajindar was the leader of his
group. To became a leader of the group you need an informal consent
of all the members in that group. Gajindar was the leader because he
must have some qualities, most important role of a leader is to
maintain the unity and resolving the issues between members.
So, from this we can consider that, Gajindar must have chosen his
friends over foreman as he had a strong bond with his friend and
ignoring them after getting success will hamper his image as a leader
which he built in seven years.
Q2(B). If you were one of the other foremen,
what could you do to make Gajindar ‘s
transition easier?
I would have greeted Gajindar personally. Took him around his new
work space and introduced him with everyone. Probably I will conduct
an orientation program where everyone can know him. I will share him
my personal experience as a foreman and tell him how his work is going
to be, also some do’s and don’ts will be suggested to him. I will ask him
about his friends and work experience which he had as a welder and
finally I will ask, can I join him and his friends to play volleyball.
Q2(C). What would you have done if you were
in Gajindar ‘s shoes? Why?
If I was there in Gajindar’s place I will choose to go left to have lunch
with my friends wearing that blue coat because if I don’t go I will
definitely hurt my friends and I may lose them. And if I go and eat with
them they will feel good and not only them but the other worker in that
canteen will also see me as a humble person. My friends will trust me
more and my foreman colleagues on the other table will not feel bad as
we don’t share a bonding the way my worker friends do.
