AMBISYON NATIN 2040

Ambisyon Natin 2040 is a shared vision, crafted by diverse people with unique
backgrounds and social strata that aims to build a blueprint on what will our country be in the
next 25 years. A working framework that enables us to arrive in our desired destination. This
battlecry will be the compass as we steer ourselves to become a premier country that is capable
of sustaining all of its population with a quality standard of living. I personally want to laud
NEDA (National Economic Development Authority) for its exceptional job of uniting the
aspirations of Filipinos and render it into a roadmap whereas citizens like us can use it to
contribute meaningfully in nation building.
As a Filipino, I want the Philippines to be at par with highly industrialized and first world
countries. I always dreamed for a comfortable, peaceful and enabling country that I and my
future children can live on. A country that is resilient to any man-made or natural calamities, a
strong republic that can weather any medical crisis, a safe haven that is free from any form of
violence. A government that is not tainted with corruption and transparent to all of its transaction
and able to cater the needs of the masses. This Ambisyon Natin 2040 is really a testament and a
clamor for a positive change among its citizens. This is indeed what we are needed for us to
move forward, this must be our marching order for our country to achieve greater heights.
I visualized Ambisyon Natin 2040 as a ship sailing in the rough seas as we embark to our
goal and aspirations. We Filipinos should take its part to achieve this seemingly impossible feat.
Each of us have its defined role and an integral fiber of our nation. I believe that our country is in
a form of rough gem that needs to be polished to be able to shine and glimmer. It is comparable
to a sleeping tiger that needs an awakening. What our country needs is a catalyst to speed up its
transformation, and we Filipinos are the one that should spearhead that necessary action.
But to be honest, I feel a little bit perplexed on how we will be able to attain those next to
impossible goals imbedded in Ambisyon Natin 2040. I am fully aware of the state of our country
now. Corruption is rampant among Government officials, poverty is off the charts, joblessness is
recorded in unprecedented rate, literacy is on all-time-low, and COVID19 is here to stay. In
addition, wealth is not equally distributed to all, the pandemic only worsens the problem and the
rich is only getting richer, and the poor get poorer. These array of difficulties tainted but not
invalidated my convictions about Ambisyon Natin 2040. I firmly believe that this country can be
great, brick by brick we can build a strong and high spirited republic that we can be proud of.
Looking back in our history, Filipinos are battle-hardened and resilient as evidenced by
countless disasters and wars that we experienced and won. We always look into the silver lining
in every situation and never back down to any challenges. In addition, we are calm and collected
person even experiencing a difficulty in our lives. We are generally optimists and hardworking
despite a challenging workplace. These positive qualities speeds and boosts us up in attaining our
2040 goals.
Like yin and yang, Filipino also have negative qualities that hampers out progress.
Filipinos are known for “ningas cogon” wherein the burning passion relatively diminish as time
goes by. Another, we are also exhibit crab mentality, a quality that undermine or halt the
progress of others.
The three core principle of Ambisyon Natin 2040 are the following, Filipinos are strongly
rooted: Matatag., Filipinos are strongly rooted: Matatag, and Filipinos are secure: Panatag..
“Matatag”, as been discussed in the in the program means Filipino families live together; there
is work-life balance so that there is time to spend with family even for members who work. We
Filipinos are family oriented person, there are times that we need to work even on weekends to
meet the ends of our family. Part of the 2040 ambition is the working member of the family will
have an ample time to spend with their love ones and able to go to parks and recreational areas.
Furthermore, it aims to provide ample “me” time for the member who works for the family. With
equitable salary, improved workplace this vision is achievable. Moreover, a robust economy that
will translate to higher per capita income will be the key to attain this aspiration.
Another is “Filipinos are secure: Panatag”, one of perennial problem in the world since
antiquity is poverty. Philippines is not spared in this global crisis as it records a fairly high
poverty rate of more than 16% of the population living below the poverty line. Poverty has great
negative impact in the society. It results to malnutrition, child labor and crime and theft. People
are forced to commit crimes to provide food on their plate and shelter. This also affects the
economic growth of the country. To reduce the poverty in our country, we should synergize our
approach by providing equitable educational opportunities to the people who belongs to the poor
families. Education is the key to have a great opportunity and to be free from the chain of misery.
In addition, having livelihood programs can help jumpstart to establish a small business that will
generate income. With this, poverty if not eradicated, lessen. Based on income bracket, I belong
to lower middle class income and this goal is a very exciting one personally.
Lastly, “Filipinos are secure”. Filipinos are peace loving persons. This can be seen
whenever we experience conflict. We tend to choose the peaceful path instead of confronting
others as much as possible. We also value peace of mind and go away with any toxic people and
toxic mind. We want to make sure the future of ourselves and our families, we keep on dreaming
of comfortable life and be safe whenever we are. We aspire for a clean government that will
safeguard us every day. This aspiration truly reflects what we Filipinos are yearning for. This
dream emanates from our forefathers and its us to us to materialize it.
Attaining this highly touted ambition is not a walk in a park, NEDA estimates it could be
achieved for 25 years or more depending on the different internal and external factors. Our
country is marred with deeply rooted problem that needs a grassroot approach in order to counter
it. I personally want to be a part of the history and I’m hoping that we can achieve this during
my lifetime.
We have 19 years to translate this vision into a reality. It could be argued that this is a
fateful task and seems impossible. What we need is a collective effort among the populace and
start the change within. I do believe that it’s not too late for our country, I will personally lit my
inner passion and ripple it to others to be able to contribute meaningfully to our country.
Education 2030: Incheon Declaration and Framework for Action Towards inclusive and
equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all

Incheon is a port-city located in northwestern part of South Korea which hosted the
World Education forum of 2015. It was concluded with the approval Incheon Declaration of
Education 2030 which proposes bold and urgent action to transform lives through a new vision
for education. The Incheon Declaration is also the seed of the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs), as it is being managed by UNESCO, as a specialist organization in Education which
continues in the role that it was given to direct and coordinate the Education 2030 Agenda. The
2030 Agenda is comprised of a set of 17 bold Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Agenda, which recognises the important role played by education, contains one goal that is
specifically devoted to this subject (SDG 4), which is included in the Education 2030 initiative.
Education 2030 is clearly a masterpiece, a labor of love from 160 conveners to the United
Nations Sustainable Goal (SDG) Number 4 that ensure inclusive and equitable and
transformative education for all. The SDGs and Education 2030 goals are wide, all-
encompassing, and human-rights-based.
The objectives of Education 2030 are reflected in various program and projects by DepEd
which aims to provide education for all. It was clearly manifested in the Mission and Vision of
the department and embedded in the PPST to synergize all the approach in attaining its goal.
Upon further reading, Philippines is a staunch supporter of SDG 4 and Education 2030 by
cascading the roles of each agencies and providing support to achieve the elusive goal. DepEd
received the highest chunk of national budget yearly and for me this is an indicator the
Government is true to its pledge to Education 2030. As a newly hired teacher, I was able to
firsthand experience how the Department extends its efforts to ensure that goal is within our
grasp. I was able to attend a series of capacity building webinars, trainings and provided journals
to will enhance my knowledge that will in turn contribute to the said endeavor. In addition, there
are programs in partnership with DepEd like ABC+ that contributes to SDG 4 and Incheon
Declaration. These program sheds light to us on how we will be able to contribute to attain the
said goal. Moreover, Department of Education support the Ambisyon Natin and SDG4 through
producing K to graduates with discipline knowledge and skills, critical analysis, problem
solving, ethical decision-making, communication, social interaction, global perspective and
lifelong learners.
These qualities and attributes are clearly stipulated in the SDG 4 and Incheon Declaration
targets. Truthfully, the holistic effort of Government does not end in vain as I was able to witness
the transformation and metamorphosis of educational landscape in our country. As a teacher, I
will do my the best of my capacity in inculcating the hearts and minds of my learner. I will make
sure that I am a propagating agent in the seeds that planted by the Government and the DepEd
that will in turn result to a better educational scene.
I do believe that it takes a village to educate a child, furthermore, a collective effort is
needed to fully attain this momentous objective.
