Spatial Modeling in GIS Explained

The document discusses spatial models and geographical information systems. It explains that a spatial model is an abstraction or representation of reality, such as a globe or map. It notes that models in GIS are used to automate workflows by chaining together geoprocessing tools. The document provides an example of an agro-climatic suitability model that could be generated to assess climate factors like temperature and rainfall. In conclusion, it states that spatial models can help with analysis, privacy protection, and faster decision making for organizations and individuals.

OBJECTIVES

• Understand:
 SPATIAL MODEL
 MULTI CRITERIA ANALYSIS
 MODEL BUILDER INTERFACE

INTRODUCTION

What is a model?
A model is an abstraction or representation of
reality
– A Globe is a model of the Earth
– A Map is a graphical model of the earth surface
– A Photo is a pictorial model of surface features

WHAT IS MODEL?

 Models are how you automate your work.

 When you create a model, you are preserving a set of tasks,

or a workflow, that you can execute multiple times.

 There are an infinite number of workflows you can automate

using models.

 You create models using ModelBuilder to chain together

tools, using the output of one tool as the input to another
tool.

Think to be consider!

 Must understand the overall work flow.

 Determine the geoprocessing tool.

 Determine the criteria.

 Expected output (result).

Benefits

 Save your time

 Reduce the money

 Reduce the human error

 Your processes can be automated without using any code.

Agro-climatic Suitability Model (Temperature, Rainfall, Humility, Solar

Radiation etc).
• To generate the Agro-
climatic Suitability Model .
• To produce the climatic
model base on:
• State.
• District .
• Mukim.
• Year.
• Month.
• By 10 days.
