Dynamic Pile Capacity Formulas Explained

Here are the steps to solve this problem using the given dynamic pile formulas: (i) ENR Formula: Qf = (ηWH + eWp)^0.5 / (S + C) Substituting values: Qf = (0.85*35*1 + 0.5*19.5)^0.5 / (0.016 + 0) = 1150 kN (ii) Modified Engineering News formula: Qf = (ηWH + eWp)^2 / (2S + C(W + Wp)) Substituting values: Qf = (0.85*35*1 + 0.5*19.5

A factor of safety FS = 6 is recommended for estimating the allowable capacity

Note: Dynamic pile formula are not used for soft clays due to pore pressure evolution
