Applications are invited for the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Examination as per

NCERT New Delhi in Reference-1 for 2021-22. The NTS will be conducted by KSQAAC in Karnataka
Higher Secondary Examination Board for students who have registered for 10th standard and
applied for 10th grade in distance education and 10th grade in government and local bodies schools,
subsidized and unaided high schools in the year 2021-22.

The first phase will be held on 16/01/2022.

Applications for the NTS Exam will be available on the NTSE Login website of the Karnataka
Secondary Examination Board from 11/11/2021. Headmasters / Principals must submit their school
students applications online.

Brief Description of NTS Exam: -

Karnataka High School Examination as National Guidelines Will be conducted by KSQAAC of the
Board. The test is conducted in Kannada, English, Marathi and Urdu medium. Candidates from
general, other backward and economically disadvantaged classes applying for this examination
should get 55% marks and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes should
score 45%. The NTS test is conducted in two stages. Candidates who qualify in the State Level
stage-1 Examination will appear for the National Level stage-2 Examination conducted by NCERT.

First Phase:

The NTS First Phase Exam will be conducted at the State Level by inviting applications. Accordingly,
students applying for the examination will be selected on the basis of social classification as per the
central government's reservation rule. Students who have been selected for the first stage
examination are eligible to appear for the national level 2 examination.

Second Phase:

Students who qualify for the state level first stage NTS exam will be eligible for NTS stage-2 exam,
conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.
Students who have passed the secondary level examination will be paid a scholarship from the
eleventh standard to higher education by the NCERT.

Objectives of the NTS Examination are:

1. Identifying talented students studying in 10th grade.

2. Promoting student talents.

3. Developing a competitive mindset among students.

4. Providing financial assistance to students to further their education.

Format of First Phase NTS Examination:

paper - 1- Mental Ability Test - MAT

This paper contains 100 multiple choice questions. Each question is assigned a score of 100 points.
This questionnaire contains questions that measure students' ability to reason, analyze, synthesize,
etc.

Paper-2 Theoretical Tendency Test :( Scholastic Aptitude Test- SAT)

This paper has a total of 100 multiple choice questions for 100 marks. Of these, 40 questions will be
selected from General Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), 40 from Social Science (History,
Geography, Politics, Economics, Sociology and Business Studies) and 20 from Mathematics. (The
questions are selected from tenth grade textbooks).

When preparing for this subject, students need to study the subjects in the 10th standard curriculum
(State / CBSC / ICSE Syllabus) framework.

NTS Examination Eligibility Score and Seat Allocation Details:

Students in General category, Other Backward category and Economically Backward category (EWSs)
in NTS Examination should earn 40% marks. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes students must
earn 32% qualifying marks. Students will be selected in accordance with the central government
reservation rules.
Scholarships: - For the students who have qualified in the stage-1 state level examination, the stage-
2 national level examination will be conducted by NCERT New Delhi. Finally, the selected students
will be paid Rs 1,250 / - per month in the first and second PUC level.

Points to be considered by Head Teachers when submitting the NTS Examination Application Form:

The online application for NTS Examination has been invited from 11/11/2021 to be filled online.
The filling is available on the USER Manual & Flow Chart Board website. Last date to apply is
30/11/2021.

When applying for the NTSE Examination online, it is mandatory for the school head teachers to
apply for the NTSE Login using the school's U DISE code. Previously, schoolchildren who were logged
in using KSEEB Code this time will also be using the U-DISE code of the school as the User Name. The
default password is provided by the board and it is mandatory to change the password when logging
in for the first time.

Eg: If a school's U-DISE is 29310300112 then

User Name: 29310300112

Default Password: 29310300112 @ 123

 The mobile number is OTP. Use the OTP to update the password and apply as Login. GM,
GM, OBC, EWSs students applying for NTS Examination should have scored 55% in Class 9th
SC and ST students should have scored 45%.
 Currently in the 10th class, all the students who have obtained A + and A grade in Class 9th,
will be required to apply compulsorily as instructed by the commissioner. It is mandatory for
all students who have obtained A + and A grade in their school to submit their applications.
 Open Candidates who have registered for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) must be below
18 years of age as 01/07/2021. Candidate should have registered for SSLC exam first time
and should not be employed anywhere.
 The NTS Examination Form must be filled by the School Heads' Board at the
[Link] website via the "NTSE Application Form" link and the
instructions on the application form must be visible before filling the application form.
 Head Teachers / Principals of Government, Subsidiary, Non-Governmental and Non-
Governmental Organizations (NGOs) can apply for NTS Examination by logging on to their
school's UDISE Code on the website [Link] Clicking this link will open
the application form.
 If there is a change in the mobile number, mail a letter to ksqaacutsenmms@[Link] of
this office's e-mail address and change the mobile number.
 School Principals / Principals are not required to provide their school User Name and
Password for any reason and the School Principals / Principals must collect the information
from the students and fill in the applications online.
 Enter the student's SATS number applied by the headmaster / principal. Relevant student
and school information is available based on the entered SATS number. (Details on steps 1
to 11) You are given the opportunity to enter the PIN code associated with the school
address and it is mandatory to enter the PIN code. There will be no amendments to the
information in the SATS at the time of filing the application. If there are amendments, the
SATS must first be amended. The correction information is then applied to the NTS Test Edit
Form Synchronize SATS Data Tab Click. Amended information must be verified before
submission.
 The application form must be filled in by the school headmaster / principal regarding the
student's information from the number 12. It is compulsory to maintain a set of supporting
documents as given in at the school after the application is made, and no certificates can be
sent to this office.
 SC, ST, Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) and Disabled
Candidates applying for this test must obtain certification from competent authority. SC / ST
Reservation students should obtain the Caste Certificate from the Head of School / Principal
of the school and fill in the RD Number in the Certificate Compulsorily in Online Application.
 The NCERT letter of reference 2 relates to the reservation in the NTS Examination Selection
of other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) students. The
Program Coordinator discusses the issue of reservation of OBCs and EWS categories. It was
informed to states that in NTS Stage-I exam the states may follow their state reservation
policy but for Stage-II exam central reservation policy of GoI will be followed. The candidate
will be considered under OBC category at Stage-II exam only if his caste falls in central list of
OBCs otherwise he will be considered as General category students for Stage-II exam. The
state has to submit EWS certificate as per the central Govt. rules, to claim reservation. If
there is shortfall of selected candidates in EWS category, then that shortfall may be
completed by taking students from General category students.
 Students seeking other Backward Classes (OBC) reservations are required to submit caste
and income certificates. Ensure that students seeking reservation under the OBC category
of the outer state submit caste and income certificates, RD Number in certificates
 Compulsory filling in online application and reserve the relevant certificate at school level. If
the student belongs to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs), it is mandatory to have an
Income and Asset Certificate from the competent authority. Mandatory filling of the RD
number / number ensuring that the prescribed certificate is submitted and the certificate is
in force.
 Enter Disability Status based on the certification obtained by the competent authority
(District Medical Board) regarding student disability.
 SC, ST, OBC, EWSs and Disabled Candidates must submit certificates to Head Teachers /
Principals regarding the reservation they request, prior to applying for examination by the
competent authority and the certificates are currently in force. The school principals /
principals concerned should make sure that the student application is filled out and that the
relevant school headmaster / principal is responsible if the certificates are not true and in
force.
 A copy of the Certificate of Reservation should be obtained by the Principal / Principal from
the students and reserved at the school level and it shall be compulsory for the department
to review the reserved documents from the students in the future.
 Entering information relating to student bank account (bank account number, bank name,
bank branch, bank IFSC Code). Scan in JPEG Format before applying for student photo and
signature.
 Student Photo (Size 60-80 kb) Uploading in JPEG Format. Uploading the Student Signature
(Size 20-50 kb) in JPEG Format .
 The number of family members includes only the student's father, mother, brother and
sisters. Even if the student does not have siblings, it is mandatory to enter 0 in the allotted
box. Only then will the application be submitted.
 Read the elements in the Authentication section to ensure that they are correct and then to
the Checkbox on the left  Check “Submit.
 The head of the school maintains the cost of maintenance of Rs. 5/- and the remaining
amount should be filled in challan and submitted. The application must be submitted within
the deadline set for the application.
 After the expiry date of the application deadline, the test fee collected by the student will be
unilaterally generated on the school login by clicking on Generate challan on the school login
excluding the operating cost of Rs.5 / - per student.
 Fees can be paid at any Canara Bank branch in the state only.
 Examination admission card will be uploaded to school login 15 days before the test date.
Download the login and verify that the information is correct and then distribute it to the
students.
 Students who have registered for Class 10 in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) current
class, download the application form available on the KSEEB website, print out the
application form and fill out the application form and obtain the certification of the

Responsibilities of the Deputy Director (Administration) in NTS Examination:

 With a view to encourage talented students currently attending class 10, the previous
Commissioner, in the conduct of reference 4, has stated that all students who have obtained
A + and A grade in the previous class should compulsorily apply. So as to ensure that it is

 Appointment of District Level Nodal Officer for the examination at District level.

KSQAAC of the Karnataka High School Examination Board.

 Testing releases grants, maintaining accounts and issuing utility certificates within the
stipulated time.

Responsibilities of the Field Inspectors in organizing the NTS Examination:

 Conducting a meeting of the Headmasters of all the High Schools in Taluk, providing full
information about the NTS Examination and ensuring that the maximum number of students
from each school apply and write the exam.
 Advertise publicy on NTS Exam in the media and promote the importance of the test. To
enable more students to apply for exams and to attend exams.
 Currently in Class 10, all the students who have obtained A + and A grade in the previous
class i.e 9th standard will be required to apply for compulsory application in the prescribed
form. Ensure that all students who have obtained A + and A grade have compulsorily
submitted their applications by informing all the schools in their block level and calling for a
meeting of Head Teachers.
 Managing the entire responsibility of their Taluk range testing system. Visiting examination
centers during inspection. Provide functionality to the Field Resource Coordinator, ECO, BRP
and CRP for implementation of pre-test and test-time functions.
 If students have not yet been registered with SATS, it is mandatory to register them and
apply immediately for students to apply online.

Special Notes: - Head Teachers / Principals must fill in all aspects of online application. After
filling out the application, you must submit the information to make sure all the information is
correct. Upon submission of application, a copy of the application and a copy of the supporting
document will be printed and reserved in the school. If there is any inaccuracy and incomplete
information in the application, the head of the concerned school is responsible.
