The program aligns with holistic care principles by integrating spirituality, which is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of patient health. It addresses emotional, spiritual, and educational needs through structured activities that encourage personal growth, community support, and a positive outlook, complementing medical treatment to enhance overall quality of life .

The program has a structured schedule starting with registration and covering sessions on spiritual wellness, coping strategies, and interactive open forums. Mornings focus on lectures and discussions, while afternoons include inspirational talks and participant interaction . This structure aims to educate, inspire, and engage participants, fostering holistic wellness and spiritual support .

The program employs evocative discussion to engage participants emotionally, followed by educational discussions to enhance knowledge about cancer and spiritual wellness . PowerPoint presentations, flyers, and handouts are utilized to reinforce learning, while open forums facilitate interactive learning and question-based assessments gauge participants' understanding .

Resource speakers and cancer survivors provide expert knowledge, inspiration, and firsthand experiences that enhance the program's credibility and relatability . Their involvement helps participants connect with the content on a personal level, reduces feelings of isolation, and promotes a positive outlook among cancer patients .

Cancer patients may face challenges such as emotional distress, physical limitations from treatment, and lack of awareness or understanding of spiritual practices . Moreover, unaddressed spiritual needs can lead to distress, making daily integration of spirituality more difficult without proper guidance and support . The program focuses on overcoming these challenges through education and structured spiritual support .

The program's total expenditure is documented at 6,620.00, covering handouts, decorations, speaker plaques, food, and participant giveaways . The costs are moderate and feasible given community support, with benefits such as enhanced spiritual wellness potentially outweighing these expenses. Continuous funding from local government further ensures economic sustainability .

Spirituality provides cancer patients with hope and meaning, serving as a buffer against the emotional stress of their illness. It aids in coping from diagnosis through treatment and into survival by offering a sense of purpose and connection to a higher power . High levels of spiritual well-being have been associated with better quality of life, lower depression, and reduced anxiety about death, thus improving patients’ overall health outcomes .

Addressing spiritual needs is crucial because it significantly influences patients' coping mechanisms and health outcomes. It provides strength, meaning, and a sense of wellness, helping patients manage their treatment and survivorship phases effectively . Unmet spiritual needs can result in distress and negatively impact psychosocial outcomes, thus making spiritual care a critical aspect of holistic patient care .

The local government and the Municipal Health Office support the program by providing funding and ensuring its annual execution during Breast Cancer Awareness Month . This support is reflected in the comprehensive program setup, including logistics, venue arrangement, and participant engagement, thus facilitating effective program delivery .

Spiritual distress can exacerbate symptoms associated with cancer and contribute to poorer health and psychosocial outcomes by causing emotional and mental unease . Spiritual interventions, when integrated into patient care, can address unmet spiritual needs, which in turn helps reduce distress and enhances the patient's quality of life and ability to cope with illness .
