A very good evening to the everyone. My name is Thiviya Logeiswaran Sivaganes. I


would be conducting and will be leading this reading circle today. I am glad to meet
everyone. I would like to thank each and everyone for joining this reading circle.
Before we dive in to our discussion in a while. I would love if everyone will like to
introduce themselves.

Thank you everyone. So, before we start with our discussion, I would like to give a
small explanation on the topic we are going to discuss about. Although students are
expected to learn much information at school every day, explanations of how to learn
the information presented to them are often overlooked. other words, despite the fact
that students are expected to learn the given information, it seems that they are
rarely informed about to get the information transferred to them. As a matter of fact,
while some students are observed to succeed by studying for a short period of time,
whereas others are seen not to succeed despite they study harder. Indeed, some
students studying in the same classroom are observed to learn the information at the
end of the course, whereas the others are seen to fail in learning the information
presented to them. Thus, for an effective learning and teaching, teaching strategies
from primary school to university education should be included in the teaching-
learning process (Garner, 1990). In recent years, more emphasis has been placed
on teaching of learning strategies for improving the academic achievement of
students. In this respect, since the most important reason for individual differences
amongst the students is to choose and use the appropriate learning strategies.
