Applicants should arrive no more than 15 minutes early to reduce congestion and wait times. They should also be prepared to go through security screening via metal detectors. Bringing only essential documents in allowed types of bags (unsealed plastic bags, small cloth bags, zip folders) will help expedite the security checks .

The strict regulations and guidelines, such as those concerning security protocols, eligibility of accompanying individuals, and documentation requirements, underscore the priority placed on security, identity verification, and streamlined processing in international travel. These measures not only protect national security but also help maintain orderly and efficient processing of applications .

Prohibited items include electronic devices, large bags, food and drink items, sealed envelopes, flammable items, and sharp objects, among others. These restrictions help ensure the safety and security of both the applicants and the staff by preventing the entry of potentially harmful items into the building .

Applicants must provide a photograph of the child on a white background measuring 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm). The photograph and documents for children can be submitted by the parent without the child's presence, provided they are accompanied by the parent's documentation .

The applicant must bring the appointment confirmation letter, current and recently expired passports, printout of the DS-160 confirmation page, supporting documents applicable to their application, and any child's documents and photographs if applicable. Bringing these items ensures a seamless and complete application process by providing identity verification, confirming application details, and proving eligibility .

The system notifies applicants via SMS and email regarding appointment confirmations and the readiness of their passports after visa approval. This efficient communication ensures applicants are kept informed of important timelines and statuses, allowing them to make necessary arrangements promptly .

Since no parking facility is provided at the Embassy/Consulate and Visa Application Center, applicants should make alternate arrangements for vehicle parking in the vicinity. This preparation can prevent unnecessary delays and ensure timely arrival for appointments .

Kunda Sanjay Daterao must first attend an appointment at the Visa Application Center (VAC) in Mumbai on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 10:15 for initial processing. The applicant will then have a consular appointment on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 08:30 at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai .

Only the visa applicant may attend the appointment. However, exceptions include a parent or guardian accompanying applicants under 18, and a caretaker, helper, or interpreter accompanying applicants with disabilities. Understanding and adhering to these rules ensures compliance with security and procedural norms .

Once a visa is issued, the applicant will receive an SMS and email notification. The applicant must bring an original government-issued photo ID to the designated pick-up location listed on the appointment letter. They must also ensure the passport is collected within 14 calendar days from Visa Application Centers or within 7 working days from Blue Dart locations to avoid it being returned to the Embassy/Consulate .
