Farmer's River Crossing Puzzle Solution

A farmer must transport a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage across a river without leaving the goat alone with the wolf or the cabbage. He successfully does this by first taking the goat across, returning alone, then taking the cabbage, bringing the goat back, taking the wolf across, and finally returning for the goat. The farmer successfully gets all his purchases home safely.

Once upon a time a farmer went to a market and purchased a 

wolf, a goat, and a cabbage.


On his way home, the farmer came to the bank of a river and rented a boat. But crossing the river
by boat, the farmer could carry only himself and a single one of his purchases: the wolf, the goat, or
the cabbage.

If left unattended together, the wolf would eat the goat, or the goat would eat the cabbage.

The farmer's challenge was to carry himself and his purchases to the far bank of the river,
leaving each purchase intact. How did he do it?

SOLUTION:
First, the farmer will take the goat with him since wolf won’t eat the cabbage and leaves the
goat at the other end then comes back alone. Next is he carries the cabbage with him and cross it to
the river then drop it there and takes the goat back. Lastly, the farmer will leave the goat and take
the wolf with him. Then leaves the wolf with the cabbage and return back to get the goat. He takes
the goat with him then cross again the river. Then the farmer successfully takes all his purchases
and went home safely.
