My name is Shairrah Claire B. Batangue, I am your accredited Competency


Assessor for Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II.

Lawrence G. Llona, SVD. and Representative from TESDA Provincial office,

Purpose of their Presence

You do not have to worry about their presence. They are here to oversee the
conduct of Competency assessment and to check if the Conduct is in accordance
with the prescribed Competency Assessment Methodology and procedures (CAMP).
They will not assess you.

I have here your accomplished Self- Assessment Guide. This is an indication


that you know and can perform all the units of Competency enumerated for
Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II.

Giving Review of the Qualification

Today, I am going to administer competency assessment for Electrical Installation


and Maintenance NC II. It is the qualification level with the core competency namely:

1 Perform roughing-in activities, wiring and cabling works for single-phase


distribution, power, lighting and auxiliary systems
2 Install electrical protective devices for distribution, power, lighting, auxiliary,
lightning protection and grounding systems
3 Install wiring devices of floor and wall mounted outlets, lighting
fixtures/switches, and auxiliary outlets

Orientation

a. Purpose of Assessment
The purpose of our assessment for Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC
II is to determine the level of your competency.

b. Qualification
The units of Competency to be assessed in EIM NC II are in the 3 core
competencies as stated earlier.

c. Tasks to be performed and the evidence to be collected.


The different tasks to be performed for our EIM NC II are the following:
1. Written Test (1 hr)
2. Building Wiring (6 hrs)
• Prepare or gather the Materials Needed
• You need to perform the diagram which will be given to you. (Note: Please
observe the measurements, sizes and the materials will be use in the
installation).
• After you finished the installation, you may call me to validate or to
check if your work is functioning.
3. Interview (1 hr)
4. Evaluation

Needs of Candidates
For your personal needs, the lavatory and comfort rooms are located beside
the assessment area. And you can also take your meal at our canteen which is
located at the lobby. However, during the assessment, you are not allowed to leave
the premise of the assessment center.

If you can’t understand the given instruction please do not hesitate to


approach me because I am willing to translate it for you, on your local dialect.
If you need you have a quiet time for any religious practices, we can allow you
to do so.
During the assessment, if you have physical or any forms of difficulty do not
hesitate to call my attention so that we can address to it immediately. You can ask
questions prior to your task.

Issuance of National Certificate

For the Issuance of National Certificate, you can claim it at TESDA Provincial
Office within 3 working days after the assessment. Just bring with you 3 pieces ID
passport size, 100 pesos for processing fee and the CARS.
After the assessment and you found out that you are not yet competent don’t
worry you can come back for reassessment subject to the availability of the assessor
or when you feel confident enough that you have acquired the competence. Also if
you did not pass two consecutive assessments you will be advised to undergo a
refresher course before applying for reassessment.
In case you have any question about the assessment result, you have the right
to appeal address to TESDA Provincial Office.

Occupational Safety and Health Requirement


During the actual assessment, please observe safety as you perform the
different tasks. Make sure to check your tools and equipment. Make sure the proper
handling of tools and materials to avoid accident, please call my attention
immediately, so we can provide you with first aid; our medicine cabinet is located
beside the tool cabinet.

Confidentiality of Assessment outcome


With regards to the result of your assessment, we observe strict
confidentiality. This is to ensure your integrity and the integrity of the assessment
process. The result will only be available for authorized personnel and the
institution where you had the actual training. In relation to this, the assessment
package is kept in a secured place to guarantee the integrity of the assessment
package. As stated above, may I asked from the candidates to refrain from giving
away any form of information that took place during the assessment process. Avoid
taking picture and videos during assessment period.

First you will be having your written examination. You have 1 hour to finish
the exam and don’t forget to write your name above the test paper. Do you have any
questions or any clarifications? If none, You may start now.
Okay, time’s up. I will now collect your test paper.

Given the necessary tools materials, equipment and facilities needed you are
required to perform in accordance with the standard procedure. You must practice
safety and health standard and finish the task within 6 hours.

So, here’s your diagram which you will going to perform form. (Note: Please
observe the measurements, sizes and the materials will be use in the installation).

Interview and Provide feedback on the assessment

Candidate #1 Mr. Marvin Paniagua please take your seat; For the names that I
did not call, please wait to the waiting area… so we are done with the demonstration
and now it’s time for the interview portion in relation to what have you performed a
while ago.

Interview

3 questions (HOTS)

Thank you Mr. Serreon, you were able to answer all the questions correctly.

For your demonstration, as I observed that you performed different skills in


building wiring. You used the right methods in bending the PVC and EMT pipe and
also your wiring devices you installed were installed properly and correctly. However,
when finished your work you didn’t return the tools to its proper place.

Based on the evidences I have gathered in the assessment I found out that you are
already competent in performing the different skills required in EIM NC II. You were
able to answer all questions correctly during oral questioning and perform task
during demonstration and performed the task in the Standard Requirement of the
Qualification (STR). For that Congratulations! You are Competent. Please sign the
rating Sheets and the CARS.
I will endorse the CARS to the AC Manager. You can get your CARS from him
and use your CARS in claiming your National Certificate level II or NC II at TESDA
Provincial Office 3 working days.

Congratulations once again and you may leave this area. God bless!

Candidate #2 Ms. Reyna Bahian please take your seat, so we are done with
the demonstration and now it’s time for the interview portion in relation to what
have you performed a while ago.

Interview
3 questions (HOTS)
Thank you Ms. Bahian, were done with the interview.

For your demonstration, I observed that you finished the task well and you also put
the materials and equipment on its proper place. However, your PVC bending was
bad especially on the off-set, you almost burned your PVC pipe and you also forgot
to put locknuts and fittings in every end of the PVC pipe and Junction/Utility box.

You are good in oral questioning. You performed the task well, BUT YOU DID NOT
meet the required specific standard in EIM NC II.

So… you are Not Yet Competent.

I will endorse the CARS to the AC Manager. You can use your CARS to apply for the
re assessment. You will only be reassessed to the competency that you have failed.

Try to practice and review the procedures that you have failed during the
assessment.

Please sign the rating sheet and the CARS, the result will be forwarded to AC
Manager.
