Importance of PE in College Education

Physical education should be taught at the college level to promote lifelong health and wellness. Exercising has no age limit and can help strengthen bones and muscles as adults are prone to injuries. While some find physical activities embarrassing to perform at home during online classes, it is an important way to stay physically and mentally healthy during the pandemic. Sitting for long periods of time each day is detrimental to health, so physical education provides needed activity and exercise that improves both physical and mental well-being.

(Informational Physical Education Interview)

Basic Information
Name: ALREALOU RAMOS Age: 18
Gender: FEMALE Year/Course: 1st Year- Doctor of Dental Medicine

1. In your own opinion, is PE course/subject need to be taught in college

level? Why?
[Link] Education is one of the inevitable subjects in a student's life . For me,
yes, this subject must to be taught in college level. Because why not? This subject is
not only important to JHS and SHS but as well as to college students. It is due to
the fact that exercising has no age limit. As we get older, our bones and muscles
should be put to work/movement because adults are very vulnerable to sprains and
strains. With this subject, we would be able to know how to keep our body healthy
and in shape.

2. State your opinion regarding the phrase “Masisira na naman yung dignidad
ko” which refers to PE course?

“Masisira na naman yung dignidad ko”

is one of the most used phrases in my whole student life especially during
pandemic. This subject requires us to execute exercise poses, require us to sing and
dance in our home which is very embarrassing since your family members could see
you doing it.. If you are not one of the talented people then i think this is the phrase that
you would say in the first place. Unlike others who can perform well and is looking good
in camera, I look like a depressed potato trying so hard. We say this phrase a lot to
express our frustration that we are not as good as others and this is sometimes
depressing.
3. In this time of pandemic and in new mode of learning, is PE class still
effective and helpful? In what way?
Ans. In this time of pandemic, the mode of leaning is online and we all know that we
sit all the time to attend our classes. i have read such articles that if you sit for 5
hours straight, your life span will lessen into 2-5 years. So I believe that Physical
Education is helpful in this time of pandemic to keep us physically active and
healthy. It is scientifically proven that after exercising, our body releases hormones
such as endorphins that makes us happy. So basically, exercising not only keeps us
healthy in our physical state but as well as contribute in our mental and emotional
health.

Thank You so much for Participating, I really appreciate it.
