Tell me about yourself

I am a mechanical engineer working for VTOL Aviation India Pvt Ltd for past 3 years. I started as
mechanical design engineer and dealt with multibody dynamics problems but now I work as system
design Engineer for the company and design overall UAVs as I function with a team of engineers
from different domain. I have successfully delivered two projects to DRDO during my time in here. I
believe in hard work and getting things done.

What is your strength

I don’t hesitate taking responsibilities, it doesn’t mean that I will take everyone’s responsibility, I will
carefully chose what I can do and deliver it. I believe in struggling, nobody has a perfect plan of how
to get something done and that’s why I don’t hesitate to take responsibility. I will that’s how how
you grow exponentially.

What is your greatest weakness?

My greatest weakness is that I was not organised before, but I have learned to manage properly, and
I am better than before. I write my daily task match in the end of the day how much I was able to
achieve that’s how I am creating a database in my head how much time a task takes to complete,
and I am still learning.

Why should we hire you?

Well, I think given the job description I will be able to do most of the work independently. I work
hard to achieve my goals and deliver on time, and I will be able to own the responsibilities quickly
after joining and I have experience in leading a team also for 2 years as this opportunity comes rarely
in such short time. To give you an example of dedication I will tell you a story about two years ago,
there is a tender called tec

Why do you want to work here?

I was always connected to space ever since my college started and wanted to be in such industry, I
used to watch videos about universe and was really fascinated and hence I joined my company.
Joining your company will take me closer to my fantasy. Moreover, the company is backed up with
brilliant scientists of India and is supported by India, working here will let me grow immensely, and it
is a perfect time to join the company as it is already passed the surviving age of a startup and now it
is moving towards growing so there is a very good opportunity for me.

A lack of organizational skills can lead to inefficiency, missed deadlines, and increased stress, which can adversely affect work quality and productivity. This can hinder career progression and reduce effective team collaboration. Mitigation strategies include developing systems to track tasks, such as writing daily tasks and reviewing accomplishments to manage time better and understand task durations. This reflective practice aims to create a mental database of time management, fostering improved organization over time.

A career in aerospace, and specifically UAV design, may interest a mechanical engineer due to the complexity and innovation inherent in the field. This provides an opportunity to work on advanced technologies and systems, pushing the boundaries of conventional engineering. Interest may also stem from a personal fascination with space and the universe, as working in UAVs aligns with participating in cutting-edge aerodynamics and contributing to pioneering projects. This field offers substantial professional growth and the chance to make significant technological impacts.

A startup transitioning from surviving to growing indicates a shift from securing basic operational continuity to expanding market presence and scaling its operations. For employees, this implies new opportunities for career advancement, involvement in more significant projects, and more strategic roles. It suggests greater stability and potential for long-term employment as the company establishes itself firmly in the market. For potential new hires, this stage offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to and benefit from the company's growth trajectory, possibly offering accelerated career paths and chances to shape key business areas. This growth phase is typically characterized by increased resources, recruitment of additional talent, and an evolving company culture aimed at sustaining expansion.

Quickly assuming responsibilities in a new company requires understanding the specific job role and aligning skills with company objectives. Strategies include proactive learning about company operations, immersing oneself in team dynamics, and seeking guidance from experienced colleagues to shorten the learning curve. Demonstrating initiative, asking insightful questions, and promptly applying lessons learned in practice can instill confidence in one's ability to handle new responsibilities. Furthermore, leveraging prior leadership experience helps in adapting to and leading team efforts effectively in the new environment.

Taking responsibility allows individuals to engage with tasks that challenge their existing skills, prompting learning and growth. The willingness to struggle without having a perfect plan fosters adaptability and problem-solving skills, crucial for professional development. This approach leads to gaining experience and insights that contribute to faster and more extensive professional growth, which could be described as exponential. The individual's belief in this method is underscored by their career progression and success in delivering complex projects, such as those with DRDO.

When choosing responsibilities, one should assess alignment with personal strengths, availability of resources, and potential impact on professional growth. Responsibilities should match one’s skill set to ensure capability in delivery. Additionally, the opportunity to learn from the responsibility, its relevance to career goals, and how it might expand one’s expertise or position within the company should be considered. It’s also crucial to balance these responsibilities with existing commitments to avoid overextension and ensure high-quality work and professional satisfaction.

Working in a team with engineers from different domains offers diverse perspectives and expertise, which can result in innovative solutions and comprehensive system designs. It encourages creativity and broadens an engineer's understanding of different technologies that contribute to UAV design. However, challenges include potential communication barriers, differing work methodologies, and conflicts in prioritization and problem-solving approaches. Effective collaboration requires strong communication, coordination, and conflict-resolution skills to integrate diverse contributions into a successful product.

The transition from a mechanical design engineer to a system design engineer marks a significant increase in responsibility and scope of work. As a mechanical design engineer, one would primarily focus on component or subsystem-specific tasks, dealing with multibody dynamics problems. Transitioning to a system design engineer involves overseeing the overall design of UAVs, which requires collaboration with various engineering domains to integrate different systems into a cohesive whole. This role demands a deeper understanding of the entire project and greater leadership to deliver integrated solutions, as evidenced by successfully delivering two projects to DRDO.

Being backed by brilliant scientists and supported by national institutions provides access to a wealth of knowledge, resources, and networking opportunities. Working in such environments can elevate exposure to groundbreaking research, mentorship by esteemed professionals, and participation in high-profile projects, which accelerates skill development and career growth. It also signals to potential employers or clients the credibility and high standards of one's work, boosting reputation and opening doors for future opportunities. Moreover, it enhances engagement in mission-critical projects that contribute to national development and innovation, reinforcing job satisfaction and professional purpose.

Working on projects for organizations like DRDO provides exposure to cutting-edge technology and complex engineering challenges, which strengthens technical expertise and problem-solving skills. It enhances a system design engineer's reputation as it demonstrates the ability to meet high standards in sensitive and strategic sectors. Successful project delivery can lead to recognition by peers and higher-ups, fostering career advancement and unlocking further opportunities in defense and aerospace industries. Such experiences also develop leadership and teamwork skills, vital for managing large-scale projects.
