Topic: “You should enjoy your youth for it comes but once.”
Lance: What does it mean to be young? If one would ask such a
question, most people would reply that being young is “having lived or
existed for only a short time”. This is the most simplistic and vague
form to describe what being young really means. Most of us probably
spent our youth trying to be older, or growing up, aspiring for the
freedom we so desperately wanted to have. Persuading everyone by
acting like you have some clue of what being mature really is. But is
this really how we should enjoy our youth? And, why is it important
that we should enjoy it? The disadvantages, aside from having so much
to live for also includes our dreams to be reached and goals to be met.
Yet, that doesn't mean you can't make any mistakes on the way. Always
bear in mind that you won't be around the same people forever, and to
the ones that you do, cherish them throughout. You'll fall in and out of
love and back through it, with people who will make you laugh loudly and
also cry softly. You'll wonder why things happen and where is the next
step to change them. You'll grow up with people whom you will never see
after high school. You will also meet mentors and teachers who will
impact the rest of your life. You'll find friends; some only there for a
moment, and others for a lifetime. You'll realize that adults and elders
weren't kidding when they said that family is the most important. You
realize everything about the world and how it works, as well as its ups
and downs. Your thoughts and tastes about things and even people will
change as time goes on. And you might not know it now, but there will
be a point that as you grow older, you will reflect on everything you did
in your youth. Your family and friends, as well as the good and bad
times you had with them. So before that even happens, enjoy your
youth, and make the most out of it! Don’t think about regrets, and
actually do what makes you happy, because in the end, that's all that
matters! Not the bad or low grade that you got or that party you had
to miss. For as the years pass by, you will realize that all that counts is
what you came out with, and of course, all the memories that follow.
Being young is the best part of life because you get endless chances to
find yourself and to discover who you really are. So stop asking to be
older, or waiting for your next birthday, and saying it's not fair that
you can't do something because of your age. Because one day, you'll
turn around, and just like all what you've heard from the people
before, you will exclaim "Oh, what could I do to be young again!”.
Gab: If we would look at it somehow, on an adult’s perspective, most
adults would say that "Ah! Time moves swiftly, huh?" Youngsters now
aspire to be adults. They're sick of hearing other people tell them
what they can or cannot perform since they're merely a youngster."
AJ: Maybe your parents, your older siblings or anyone older would keep
on telling you to “Enjoy being young and not having responsibilities.
Enjoy your freedom. Enjoy the fact that school and work is the only
thing you really have to worry about!"
Gab: Yet if we would ponder and think about it more closely, we would
notice that it actually makes sense! Adults would always keep on telling
us about this because the responsibilities and obligations that they
have to fulfill will be ours as well.
Alexa: When you fall, your parents won't be able to catch you. You
must be prepared to catch yourself if you do. Finishing college, giving
your best in interviews, finding a steady career after graduation, and
having a solid source of income to support you and your family; all these
things are the duties that you will have as an adult. You will also be the
one to make your own decisions without relying on other people.
Gab: So before you experience and encounter these in the near future,
make use of your youth. Not only is it a part of life that is free and
joyful, it also allows you to prepare and understand before going
through your future objectives and ambitions. Enjoy your youth for
once it has passed, you might regret it immensely.
Jessica: Yet, in enjoying your youth, always take caution and think
twice in everything that you will do. Be happy while you are still young,
follow your heart’s desire and do what you want to do. But keep in mind
that you are the only one who will be held accountable for your actions
and at the end of the day; God is going to judge you for whatever you
do.
