Part 1: Describe and Analyze Current Involvement Programs
I work in a public elementary school that comprises 967 students enrolled in grades 4k to

fourth grade. The school has been amongst the fastest growing elementary school within our

region. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and numerous new learners joining, the school had to

build an extra elementary school. The school has also developed various programs that are

accessible for guardians/parents in including them to the school calendar for assistance to both

the school and the learners. We welcome any organization to partner with us to help out in

meeting the needs of the school. We have already formed various partnerships with a local

business. Good leadership is one of the crucial things to have in a school since it helps in

developing relations with community members. Moreover, we have introduced various programs

within the school, such as PTA, career day, and Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night. These programs are

designed either for monetary benefits or kids' enjoyment.

Every program benefits our school in its unique way. But, PTA seems to be an effective

program since it includes all parties within the community – students, teachers, parents, and

community. So, PTA is vital, and without it, most of the activities in our school would be at a

standstill. The program deals with things like our daily undertakings, whereas planning crucial

events held by our school. If not for PTA, we would not be able to purchase tools that can meet

learners' needs. Likewise, Sakiz, (2017) stated that the PTA is crucial because parental inclusion

is related to school effectiveness and student performances in general. PTA has been greatly

involved in purchasing learning tools like iPads for lower grade learners in my school. They are

even involved in helping the learners that are struggling to learn, such as helping them to read.

Generally, PTA is the backbone of our school that provides all supports for teachers and student

needs. It comprises stakeholders within the community where most of our workers are daily

parents that are willing to provide for us. It is also the role of PTA to communicate with PTA

program associates – parents, educators, and members of the community (Tatlah, & Iqbal, 2011)

They can communicate and access information in many ways where face to face communication

seem to be more effective.

In order to enhance the effectiveness of these programs, especially PTA, our school

should include more community members. However, it can become a challenge for us since most

families are at work during the day and cannot make it to school like most parents. Our students'

growth can only be realized if our school involves more businesses or community members,

which will also benefit the teachers. When it comes to student learning, there must be some ways

to make it more effective. Likewise, to ensure more community engagement within these

programs, the school can offer incentives. This can be a simple task, like placing their ads on the

weekly school newsletter that is given to parents. Our school can also take up a notch and

involve the local news to help people understand who is helping the school attain particular set

goals. Research by Bartz, Rice, & Karnes, (2018) proposes that communication and engagement

are more operatives when the improvement leadership listens to parents and the community's

responses and give feedback to the questions and concerns. Community engagement also needs

to be prioritized. Not everyone will buy this idea; however, it can be successful if we limit the

community requires the way inclusion.

There are other programs that we have not mentioned as part of our schools, such as the

ministry that offers meals during weekends and holidays. Also, there are issues such as

communication skills that are not addressed. Learners in my school experiences difficulty in

carrying out conversations with their peers. I think this has been caused by the use of technology.

While at home, children are highly involved with technological gadgets like video games and

have less time to speak with parents. If there are ways to help our students be more included

within the after school programs, it can help learners communicate with one another effectively.

Some learners in existing learning settings do not know how to play with their peers due to a lack

of social skills. I observe this during physical education lessons and more so when recessing. It is

surprising how children play by themselves and neglect their friends. Our school needs to

implement different programs, which assist the school in addressing such an issue.

As this report indicates, our school highly integrates the community and parents within

most of its undertakings. This inclusion has helped our school to become one of the top schools

that greatly involve programs that brings parents, community, students, and educators together.

Our school comprises numerous programs that help the management to make the connection

successful with the surrounding communities. Without the parent-teacher association, most of

the tasks within our school will not be taking place. They are the school’s biggest supporters, and

the school defiantly appreciate everything they are doing for every party involved, and especially

during this COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the process of involvement, the school has

established a solid relationship with the different organizations within our community, and this

has been an added advantage for both school, community, students, parents, and educators.

Every organization that we partner with love and recommend each event we plan for them. The

educators likewise are happy with these activities because they are realistic and relevant to our

students. Along these lines, it is my wish that in the future, our school will keep on developing

and improving these relationships and continuously develop even more partnerships with the

members of the community and organization.
