Jack Force Calculations for Cables

The document describes cable designations and prestressing forces for different cable types. It specifies that cable 12 T 13 consists of 12 strands, each with a diameter of 12.7mm. Cable 19 T 15 consists of 19 strands, each with a diameter of 15.2mm. The maximum jack pressure is calculated as 148 kg/mm2 based on the breaking strength of the strands and standards for prestressing force.

PRESTRESSING FORCE
Breaking Strength of Strand = 183.710 kN [Table -18.4, IRC :112-2019]
( U.T.S. )
Max. Jack Pressure < 90% of 0.10% Proof Stress [Cl. 7.9.2, IRC : 112 - 2011]

0.10% Proof Stress = 0.87 x U.T.S. [Fig 6.3, IRC : 112 - 2011]

Max. Jack Force = 0.90 x 0.87 U.T.S. = 0.783 U.T.S.

= 0.783 x 183.710

= 143.845 kN

= 143.845 / (9.81 x 98.8) x 1000 kg/mm²

= 148.41 kg/mm²

Adopted Jack Pressure = 148.00 kg/mm2

PRESTRESSING FORCE ( 12 T13 Cable)

Max. Jack Pressure = 148.41 kg/mm²

Adopted Jack Force = 148.41 x 12 x 98.8/1000 t

= 175.95 t
