Madras Rubber Factory, popularly known as
MRF, is a major tyre manufacturing company
located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. MRF is
mainly involved in making vehicle tyres. It is
India's largest tyre manufacturing company,
and among the dozen largest worldwide. It
exports to more than 65 countries
Sports
MRF has been involved in the development of cricket
through its sponsorship of many cricketers and MRF Pace
Foundation. At one point of time, MRF was the bat
sponsor of world-class batsmen including Brian Lara,
Sachin Tendulkar, and former Australian captain Steve
Waugh.
After Waugh's and Lara's retirement from international
cricket, on 4th September 2009, MRF's contract with
Sachin Tendulkar too expired. Sachin now uses Adidas
bats, and MRF are currently sponsoring Gautam Gambhir
and Rohit Sharma two other members of the Indian
cricket team.
At IPL 2010, MRF got the charge of the moored balloon[1]
floating above the cricket grounds. It contained a high-
definition camera recording live actions of the cricket
match.

Motorsports in India has always been synonymous
with MRF. The development and popularity of
various forms of the sport can be directly attributed
to the pioneering efforts of the Company, be it in
Racing, Rallying, Motocross or Karting.
RACING
MRF is the pioneer of motor racing in India. The
gruelling race track has been the laboratory for
testing our tyres. Every MRF tyre designed is the
result of a strenuous acid test on the race circuits.
Sharp turns, abrupt braking and straight stretches of
steaming asphalt - excruciating conditions, but then
again, only the tough can survive, and only the
toughest win. MRF tyres are developed to traverse
at speeds exceeding 150 Kmph, at which they are
exposed to extreme conditions of heat and traction.

Rallying
MRF has a marked presence in motor rallying in
India. In fact, it is the largest promoter of rallying in
the country. Having met with success in the
domestic championships, the company entered
international rallying in 2002 with two cars in the FIA
Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC). Team
MRF won the FIA APRC twice - with Armin Kremer
(Germany) and co-driver Fred Berssen in 2003 and
with Jussi Valimaki (Finland) and co-driver Jarkko
Kalliolepo in 2005.

Motors
Motocross (often shortened to MX) is a form of
motorcycle sport or all-terrain two wheeler racing
held on enclosed off-road circuits. Motocross is
derived from the French, and traces its origins to
British scrambling competitions. The name
"Motocross" is derived from the words
"Motorcycle" and "Cross Country". Keeping with its
close association with motorsports, MRF annually
promotes a national Supercross Championship in
several cities.

Karting
Karting is considered the stepping stone for a
successful career in formula car racing. It has
moved on from becoming a pastime for racing buffs
to a serious sport. MRF has a long-standing
association with karting in India. MRF is the first
Indian tyre company to develop FIA-CIK approved
karting tyres in India.

The company, MRF Ltd., originally started as a small
manufacturing unit of balloons, latex cast squeaking
toys and industrial gloves. The company established
its first office in 1949 at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
It began the manufacturing of tyres in 1961.
Today, MRF has 6 manufacturing plants in India
located in Tiruvottiyur and Arakonam in Tamil Nadu,
Kottayam in Kerala, Ponda in Goa, Medak in Andhra
Pradesh, and one in the Union Territory of
Pondicherry. It has a distribution network of more
than 2,500 outlets in the country and exports tyres in
over 75 countries globally.
MRF enjoys of manufacturing the largest range of
tyres in India and it has the highest brand preference
for superior quality, appearance and wearability. It
manufactures the largest range of tyres in the
country and is the market leader with the largest
market share in almost every segment of the tyre
industry.
