ACCESSING STATUS

Purpose
The Status function monitors ECM data as it occurs.

Accessing
To run the Status function:

 Select “Status” from the Information menu


–OR–

 Push the F2 key (if the default function keys are set)
–OR–

 Click the Status Tool icon on the toolbar (if default is set).

The Status screen is displayed.

Screen Layout
The Status screen has the following areas:

Tree Area
The tree area is located on the left side of the screen. This area lists each available ECM. Under each ECM is a
list of status groups.
Beside each Status Group is a Status Tool icon.
User defined groups of parameters include a silhouette in the Status Tool icon.
To view an individual group of parameters, click on one of the Status Groups. The selected Status Groups
parameters will appear in the display area. Or, use the up and down arrows on the keyboard to consecutively
view each group and its parameters in the Display Area.

Display Area
The display area is located on the right side of the screen. To view a group of status parameters, double click on
the Status Group. The corresponding status parameters will appear in the display area.
The Status display area has six columns displaying the following information:

1. Description – name of the parameter


2. Value – status of the selected parameter
3. Unit – type of unit with which the value is measured
4. Min – lowest (minimum) values a status parameter has reached while being displayed
5. Max – highest (maximum) value a status parameter has reached while being displayed
6. ECM – ECM reading the parameter value

If Active Diagnostic Codes are present for On Highway truck sensors, another column displays, between the
Description and Value columns, to indicate a problem with the specific parameter.
If there are parameters to view other than those shown in the display area, a vertical scroll bar appears at the

right side of the screen.


Note: If the service tool is unable to read a parameter value, "Unavailable," "Not Installed," or "Not Available" will
appear in the Values column for that parameter.

Buttons
The buttons available on the Status screen are:

 Groups

 Zoom In/Zoom Out

 Hold/Resume

ZOOM AND HOLD FUNCTIONS

Zoom
The Zoom function allows values to be displayed in larger text for increased visibility.
To utilize the Zoom function:

1. Click the Zoom In button. The size of the displayed text increases.
2. Click Zoom Out button to return to the normal text display mode.
Note: If there are more parameters to view than are shown in the display area, the vertical scroll bar is
displayed at the right side of the screen.

Hold
The Hold function pauses the display so that the status of the parameters at a particular instance can be viewed.
To utilize the Hold function:

1. Click the Hold button. The service tool immediately stops updating the parameter values. The Hold button
changes to the Resume button.
2. Click the Resume button to resume parameter updates.

STATUS BAR GRAPHS

Purpose
The Status Bar Graphs display status information, which is organized by the ECM into bar chart format. When
ECM View functionality is available, the Status Bar Graphs also display information regarding the electronics of
the machine (engine, transmission, brakes, etc.).

Accessing
To access the Status Bar Graphs function, select “Status Bar Graphs” from the Information menu bar.

Screen Layout
The tree area is located on the left side of the screen. This area lists each available ECM. Under each ECM is a
list of status groups.
Beside each Status Group is a Status Tool icon.

ACCESSING ECM SUMMARY

Purpose
The ECM Summary screen displays useful ECM information from all available ECMs. This information is
necessary when reporting problems or requesting service tool support.

Accessing
This screen displays automatically each time the service tool is started or a new connection is established.
To run the ECM Summary function once a service tool connection has been established:

 Select “ECM Summary” from the Information menu

 Click the ECM Summary icon on the toolbar

The ECM Summary screen is displayed.

Screen Layout
The ECM Summary screen has the following areas:

Tree Area
The tree area is located on the left side of the screen. The names of all ECMs on the data link are listed under
the Available ECM(s) folder.

Display Area
The display area is located on the right side of the screen and contains a Description column and a Value
column. The Description column lists each ECM. A summary of descriptive parameters identifying the ECM is
listed under each ECM. The Value column displays the data information for the parameters.

CURRENT TOTALS

Purpose
The Current Totals screen displays the current total values for the different parameters listed. These totals aid in
the analysis of many important factors related to the use of the truck or machine.

Accessing
To run the Current Totals function, select “Current Totals” from the Information menu. The Current Totals screen
is displayed.

Screen Layout
The Current Totals screen has the following areas:

Display Area
The Current Totals display area has three columns:

 Description - Provides name of the parameter set to run the test

 Value - Displays the status of the current parameter.

 Unit - Displays the parameter units.

Note: Please refer to Special Instruction REHS1297 if an asterisk [*] appears next to the parameter.

Buttons
The button available in the Current Totals screen is:

 Change

Note: When an unavailable parameter (read only) is selected, the Change button is disabled.

RATING HISTORY

Purpose
The Rating History displays the history of various engine ratings. The ECM records the horsepower, torque,
duration, and the service tool serial number at the time of the rating change.

Accessing
To run the Rating History function, select “History” from the Information menu, and then select “Rating” from the
submenu. The Rating History screen is displayed.

Screen Layout
The Rating History screen has the following area:

Display Area
The Rating History display area has five columns:

 Description – Provides the name of the parameter set to run the test

 Original Setting – Displays the parameter status in its original setting

 Present Setting – Displays the parameter status in its present setting

 Previous Setting – Displays the parameter status in its previous setting

 Highest Setting – Displays the parameter status in its highest setting

"Not Available" is displayed for rating information that has not been recorded by the ECM. To display additional
ratings, use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the screen.

ACCESSING PARAMETER CHANGE HISTORY

Purpose
The Parameter Change History function displays historical records of parameter changes that have been made
on the ECM. These items are listed with the most recently changed parameter at the top.

Accessing
To run the Parameter Change History function select “History” from the Information menu, and then choose
“Parameter History” from the submenu. The Parameter Change History screen is displayed.

Screen Layout
The Parameter Change History screen has the following area:

Display Area
The Parameter Change History display has four columns:

 ECM Hours - Displays the service hour meter that the ECM has been active

 Service Tool - Displays the serial number of the service tool that last changed the parameter

 Description – Provides the name of the parameter set to run the test

 New Value -Displays the status of the new parameter.

RESETTING AND VIEWING CUSTOMER PASSWORDS

Purpose
The Reset/View Customer Passwords function provides two randomly generated customer passwords. This
function allows a service technician access to customer password-protected parameters without divulging the
actual customer passwords, which may be the same for an entire fleet. The original passwords may be restored
through the Restore Password function when the temporary random passwords are no longer needed.

Accessing
To access the Reset/View Customer Passwords screen, select “Passwords” from the Information menu on the
toolbar, and then select “Reset/View Customer Passwords” from the submenu.
Note: Factory passwords must be entered in order to have access to reset customer passwords.

Instructions
To generate customer passwords:

1. Enter the Factory Passwords when prompted.


2. The service tool will display a prompt: “This function will replace the customer passwords with new values.
Previous password values will be lost and cannot be restored. Proceed?" Click Yes to continue the process
and reset the customer passwords, or click No to cancel.
3. Record the randomly generated customer passwords and click OK to accept the prompt.
4. Click OK to accept the informational prompt: “Passwords have been reset. Please restore to the previous
customer passwords when service is complete if your customer has not requested you to change the
customer passwords."

Note: The Restore Passwords feature can be used to revert from randomly generated passwords to previously
defined customer password. To restore the previous customer passwords, refer to "Restoring Customer
Passwords".

RESTORING CUSTOMER PASSWORDS

After generating customer passwords for service, the original customer passwords may be restored.

Instructions
To access the Reset/View Customer Passwords screen:

1. To access the Reset/View Customer Passwords screen, select “Passwords” from the Information menu on
the toolbar, and then select “Restore Customer Passwords” from the submenu.
2. When prompted, “Do you want to restore passwords…", click Yes to restore customer passwords or No to
cancel.

ACCESSING DATA LOG RECORDER

Purpose
The Data Log Recorder function allows performance data to be captured or logged for multiple ECMs, which aids
in diagnosing potential problems. This function allows the flexibility to define a sample rate as well as the
duration of the sample.

Accessing
To run the Data Log Recorder function, select “Data Log” from the Information menu, and then select “Recorder”
from the submenu. The Data Log Recorder screen is displayed.
Note: The Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box displays the first time this tool is used.

Screen Layout
The Data Log Recorder screen has the following areas:

Status Area
The Status area appears at the top of the Data Log Recorder screen. Instructions and messages regarding the
process of the log are displayed here, as well as the time remaining for the current sample.

Settings Area
The Settings area, located below the Status area, displays the settings that were defined in the Data Log
Recorder Settings dialog box.
The Selected ECM Parameter area lists all the ECMs selected for logging along with their selected parameters.

Buttons
The buttons available in the Data Log Recorder screen are:

 Start

 Settings...

 Graph

 Export

USING DATA LOG RECORDER

Instructions
To use Data Log Recorder:

1. Click the Settings... button. The Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed. Note: This dialog box
is also displayed the first time the tool is accessed.
2. On the General tab, enter the settings to run the Data Log Recorder. If desired, enter the conditions on the
Auto-Trigger tab. Note: For more information on the Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box, see “Setting Up
Data Log Recorder”.
3. Click OK to accept the settings and/or conditions.
The “Please Wait” message is displayed. If a Pre-Trigger is set, “Buffering...” displays on the Status line.
The Data Log Recorder screen is then displayed with the settings listed in the Settings Area.

4. Click the Start button.


 If the sample rate is set at less than 30 samples per minute, the data log process begins and the
status of the remaining logging time displays on the status line.
Note: The Start button is replaced with the Stop button until Stop is clicked or the test has
completed.

 If the sample rate is set at greater than 30 samples per minute, The “Data Log Recorder is running...”
dialog box is displayed, and the status of the remaining logging time displays on the Status line.
Note: When the “Data Log Recorder is running...” dialog box is displayed, the test may be stopped
by clicking Stop Recorder. A warning dialog will be displayed: “The Data Log Recorder is running.
Are you sure you want to stop recording?” Click Yes to stop the test and return to the Data Log
Recorder screen.
When the test has completed, the status line reads, “Please Click ‘Start’ to Start Logging.’
If the sample rate is less than 20 samples per minute, other service tool functions may be used
while logging.

5. To view the data:


 Click Graph in the Data Log Recorder screen. The Select Parameters dialog box of the Data Log
Viewer function is displayed. – OR –

 Select “Data Log” from the Information menu, and then select “Data Log Viewer” from the submenu.
The Select Parameters dialog box of the Data Log Viewer function is displayed. – OR –

 Select “Open” from the File menu, and then select “Data Log File” from the submenu. The Select
Parameters dialog box of the Data Log Viewer function is displayed. Note: A data link connection is
not required to access files from the File menu.

Note: For more information on the Data Log Viewer function, see “Accessing Data Log Viewer”.

SETTING UP THE DATA LOG RECORDER

Instructions

To set up the Data Log Recorder/General Tab:

1. Click the Settings... button from the Data Log Recorder screen. The Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box
is displayed.
2. Select the General tab. The General tab includes the following areas:
a. Log File location
 By default, the data log is saved with the extension *.sdf and is stored in the \DataLog folder of
the program folder where the service tool is installed. The file name contains the date the log
was taken.

 To save the Data Log File in another location, enter the new location and/or file name in the
Log File text box OR click the Browse... button to display the Save As dialog box. See
“Changing the Default File”.

b. Sample Rate – The Sample Rate may be selected in one of the following ways:
 Select the rate at which the sample is to be taken from the Sample Rate drop-down list, and
select the Per Hour or Per Minute radio button. OR

 Select the Custom radio button, and then click Configure.... The Sample Time dialog will be
displayed. In this dialog, enter the specific desired second, minute, or hour intervals at which
the sample should be recorded. Then click OK. Note: The intervals may be irregular (for
example, the sample may be taken at 3 hours and then again 10 minutes later) and can be
entered for up to 2 weeks from when the Data Log Recorder is started.

c. Duration
 Enter the amount of time that the sample is to be collected in the Duration text box, and select
either the Minute or Hour radio button.

d. Pre-Trigger
 When enabled, the pre-trigger function records data before logging starts, allowing data values
to be viewed just prior to the starting point of the test.

 Enter the amount of time allowed to elapse before the trigger point in the Pre-Trigger text box
by clicking the up and down arrows next to the text box, entering information with the
keyboard, or using the up and own keys on the keyboard. The default value for pre-trigger is
five seconds.
Note: To proceed without a pre-trigger, change the value to zero in the Pre-Trigger text box.

e. ECM Parameter
 Highlight an ECM from the ECM Parameter area. the Add... button. The Select Group dialog
box is displayed. Note: For more information on the Select Group Dialog box, see “Selecting a
Group of Parameters.”

 Highlight a group from the Select Group dialog box and click OK. The Data Log Recorder
Settings dialog box is displayed.

To set up the Data Log Recorder/Auto-Trigger Tab:


Note: The Auto-Trigger feature allows data values to be recorded when specific pre-determined conditions are
met.

1. Click the Settings... button from the Data Log Recorder screen. The Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box
is displayed.
2. Select the Auto-Trigger tab.
3. Check the Enable Auto-Trigger check box to activate the auto-trigger mode and set up the auto-trigger
conditions.

4. In the Condition 1 area, select the ECM from the drop-down list, and then select the parameter for the
selected ECM from the drop-down list.
5. Select the comparison action from the drop-down list.
6. If two conditions are desired, select either the “AND” or “OR” radio button.
7. Repeat the above steps to set up Condition 2. When all information has been entered, click OK.

CHANGING THE DEFAULT FILE

Purpose
The Browse... button allows logged data files to be saved on a drive other than the default drive. By default, the
file name is saved by the date and time at which the log was taken.

Example:
File Name: [Link]
090615 - date of file creation was June 15, 2009
133863 - time of file creation was 1:38:36 p.m.

The reports are saved with the extension *.sdf and are stored by default in the …\Datalog folder of the program
folder where the service tool is installed.
This dialog box is also displayed if the file already exits and was not overwritten from the service tool function
main screen.

Instructions

To change the location and/or name of the logged data file:


1. In the Settings dialog box, click the Browse... button. The Save As dialog box is displayed.
2. Select the location where the file will be saved and set the Save As type as *.sdf. Then, type the name of the
file in the File name text box and enter any comments or information about the file in the Comments text
box.
Note: For some features, the Comments text box will include two buttons. Click Clear Text to erase all
text on the screen, leaving the text box area blank. Click Default Questions to erase all text on the
screen and display the default questions in the text box area.

3. Click Save to accept the changes. The Settings dialog box is displayed.

To change an existing file name:


1. If a file name already exists, a message box displays the following message: “The Data Log file you selected
already exists. Are you sure you want to overwrite it?”
2. Click No to save the file with a new name. The Save As dialog box is displayed. By default, the date and
time displays in the File Name text box. Click Save to accept the file name. The active feature screen is
displayed, counting down the remaining time on the status line.
Click Yes to replace the file. The active feature screen is displayed, counting down the remaining time on
the status line.

USING SEA TRIAL

Overview
The Sea Trial feature contains necessary functions to allow the recording of marine engine data during sea trials.
This includes general vessel information, steady state operational information, and transient acceleration
recordings.
Sea Trial functions currently available on various products are:

 General Information

 Steady State

 Transient

To access the Sea Trial feature, select “Sea Trial” from the Information menu, and then select the desired sea
trial function from the submenu.

SEA TRIAL GENERAL INFORMATION

Purpose
When a Sea Trial test is run, the Computer Aided Marine Performance Analysis Report (CAMPAR) must be
completed. The goal of the Sea Trial General Information feature is to provide an automated way of gathering
and storing this information through the service tool. This service tool downloads some of the information from
the ECM, and the remaining information must be entered manually. Upon completion of a form, the data
contained in the report is saved to a file. This file may also be printed.
Note: A report can be opened or created without a data link connection. However, a data link connection is
required to record information retrieved from the ECM. For example, the information under the Setup folder can
only be entered when connected to an ECM.

Accessing
To open Sea Trial General Information:

1. Select “Sea Trial” from the information, and then select “General Information” from the submenu. A Sea Trial
General Information message box is displayed.
2. Click Yes to open an existing report. See "Editing an Existing Sea Trial General Information Report".
Click No to create a new report. See "Creating a New Sea Trial General Information Report".

Screen Layout
The Sea Trial General Information screen has the following areas:

Tree Area
The tree area is located on the left side of the screen. This area outlines each of the Sea Trial General
Information report sections:

Under each folder of the tree, the different parts of the section are listed. Clicking any folder or page from the
tree area prompts the desired selection of the Sea Trial General Information report to be displayed in the wizard
area.
After an area in the tree is selected, the up and down arrows ( and ) on the keyboard can be used to move up
and down the tree. The area of the screen that is associated with the item selected in the tree displays in the
wizard area.

Wizard Area
The wizard area is located on the right side of the screen. This is where the Sea Trial General Information report
information can be entered. All fields are limited to 40 characters, except the comments screen and the address
fields in the General section. Each section of the report is a separate screen in the wizard.
There are three buttons in the wizard area:

 <Back- Returns to the previous report section.

 Next> - Displays the next report section on the list.

 Finish - This button is enabled in the Comments screen when an engine is selected in the Setup screen.

Within a section, the Tab key moves the cursor between fields.

Buttons
The buttons available on the Sea Trial General Information screen are:

 Save

CREATING A NEW SEA TRIAL GENERAL INFORMATION REPORT

Purpose
The Sea Trial General Information wizard assists in creating a new report. After saved, the report can be
imported into other applications, such as Microsoft Excel. The reports are stored, by default, with a *.txt
extension in the …Sea Trial\General Information folder where the service tool is installed.

Instructions
To create a new report:

1. Select “Sea Trial” from the Information menu, and then select “General Information” from the submenu. A

Sea Trial General Information message box displays. Click No to create a new report.
—OR—
Click the New button from the Sea Trial General Information screen.
A blank Sea Trial General Information screen is displayed.

2. Enter the information requested in the seven screens of the Sea Trial General Information report.
Note: An explanation of navigating through the wizard area screens is located in screen layout section of
"Accessing Sea Trial General Information."

3. When the report is complete, click the Finish button in the Comments screen of the wizard to save the
form. If the form is not complete, a message box displays.
Note: The Finish button is enabled in the Comments screen when an engine is selected in the Setup
screen.
—OR—
Click the Save button from the Sea Trial General Information screen. If the form is not complete, a
message box is displayed.

4. Click Yes to continuing saving the form. The standard Microsoft Windows Save As dialog box displays. Click
No to return to the Sea Trial General Information screen without saving the form.
By default, the report is saved by the date the log is taken and saved in the General Information folder.
To save the report in a different location, select the new location. To save the report file by a different file
name, enter the file name in the text box.

5. Click Save to accept the report. Click Cancel to exit without saving the file. The Sea Trial General
Information screen is displayed.

EDITING AN EXISTING SEA TRIAL GENERAL INFORMATION REPORT

Purpose
After a report has been saved, the information can be changed at any time. A data link connection is not required
to retrieve a report.
By default, the file name is saved by the date the report was created or altered. If the report is altered at a later
date, the service tool names the file to a new file name. To save the report to the same file name as it was
previously, select its current name in the Save As dialog box.
Note: While loading an existing report, two warning boxes may display if:

 A General Information file is selected that was created from an older version of Sea Trial General
Information

 If the current ECM is different from the ECM listed in the report

Instructions
To edit an existing report:

1. Select “Sea Trial” from the Information menu, and then select “General Information” from the submenu. Or,
select “Open” from the File menu, and then select “Sea Trail General Information File” from the submenu. A
Sea Trial General Information message box is displayed.

2. Click the Yes button to open an existing report. The Open dialog box is displayed.
Note: An existing file may also be edited by clicking the Load button from the Sea Trial General
Information screen. The Open dialog box is displayed.

3. Select a file and click Open. The Sea Trial General Information screen display the selected report in the
wizard.
4. Enter changes and/or additional information in the report.
5. When all changes have been made and the report is complete, click Finish button in the Comments screen
of the wizard to save the form. Or, click the Save button in the Sea Trial General Information screen.
If the form is not complete, a warning box will be displayed.
Note: The "Finish" button is enabled when you are in the Comments screen and an engine is selected in
the Setup screen.

6. Click Yes to continuing saving the form. The Save As dialog box is displayed.
7. Select the report’s current file name in the Save As text box to overwrite the file with its new changes. The
selected name is displayed in the File name text box.
8. Click Save. The Sea Trial General Information screen will display the current report in the wizard.

USING THE SEA TRIAL STEADY STATE FUNCTIONS

Overview
Steady State options allow the recording of marine engine data during sea trials. Steady State options currently
available on various marine products are:

 Settings

 Recorder

 Viewer

Selecting the Settings option displays the Steady State Recorder settings dialog box. This dialog box is also
displayed when the Recorder option is selected because either specific requirements must be set up for a test to
run or an existing setup file must be chosen before running a test.
The Sea Trial Steady State recorder function allows engine performance data to be captured to help diagnose
problems. The captured data can be compared with past performance data imported into the CAMPAR
(Computer Aided Marine Performance Analysis Report) program or can be graphed within the service tool.
Data is captured while the engines are at relatively constant speeds. If the speed varies more than 20 RPM, the
data is considered to be questionable. The operator must consider this when choosing the time and location for
using this feature.
Selecting the Viewer option is an alternative method for running the Data Log Viewer function.
Note: This function can be accessed when disconnected from the data link by selecting “Open” from the File
menu and then selecting “Sea Trial Steady State File.”

SETTING UP A SEA TRIAL STEADY STATE SETTINGS FILE

The Steady State Recorder Settings dialog box allows specific requirements to be set up for a test. This must be
done prior to running the test in order to create a customized test. Customizable information includes
parameters, file name and storage locations, and comments about the settings file.
An ECM connection is required to use the Steady State Recorder Settings dialog box. Settings may be created
and stored for future use. Each settings file is saved as *.set.

Instructions
To select a settings file:

1. Select the “Sea Trial” from the Information menu, and then select “Steady State” from the submenu. Then
select “Settings” or “Recorder” from the submenu. The Steady State Recorder Settings dialog box is
displayed.
2. To select an existing file, highlight it from the Steady State Files list box, or click Browse.... The Open dialog
box will be displayed. From here, a file can be selected from a location different from the default location and
added to the Steady State Settings Files list box.
Note: The file path will be displayed when the Show Default Location checkbox is checked.
The details of the selected setting file are displayed in the Settings Details list box. To view the details,
highlight one of the setting detail options:
 Comments - Displays comments entered about the selected settings file

 ECM Parameters - Displays parameter values read from the ECM

 Manual Parameters - Displays parameters that must be read and entered manually by the technician

 Monitored ECM Parameter - Displays the ECM parameter(s) that will be monitored on the screen
during the test.

The current values for the selected option will be displayed in the text box to the right of the Settings
Details list box.

3. To create a new settings file, click New.... The ECM Parameters Setup dialog box will be displayed.
4. To modify an existing settings file, click Modify.... The ECM Parameters Setup dialog box will be displayed.
5. When the desired file has been selected, click OK. The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder screen will be
displayed.

CREATING A NEW STEADY STATE SETTINGS FILE

Purpose
The Steady State Recorder wizard assists in creating a new settings file or modifying an existing settings file.
The settings file is saved, by default, with a *.set extension in the ...Sea Trial\Steady State\Settings folder where
the service tool is installed.

Instructions
To create a new steady state settings file:

1. Select the Settings option or the Recorder option from the Steady State sub-menu. The Sea Trial Steady
State Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed.

2. Click the New… button. Steady State Recorder Setup wizard displays.
3. Enter the information requested on the five setup screens.
Note: Refer to "Understanding the Steady State Recorder Setup Screens" for information on understand
the different areas of the wizard and help navigating through the screens.

4. When the setup screens are complete, click the Finish button to save the settings to a file. If the information
is not complete, a message box informs you what information needs to be included.
Click Cancel to exit the setup wizard and return to the Steady State Recorder Settings dialog box.

MODIFYING A STEADY STATE SETTINGS FILE

Purpose
The Steady State Recorder wizard assists in creating a new settings file or modifying an existing settings file.
The settings file stores, by default, with a *.set extension in the…Sea Trial\Steady State\Settings folder where
the service tool is installed.

Instructions
To change a steady state settings file:

1. Select the “Settings” option or the “Recorder” option from the Steady State sub-menu. The Sea Trial Steady
State Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed.
2. Highlight a file from the Steady State Settings Files list box. The details of the highlighted setting file can be
viewed in the Settings Details list box.
3. Click the Modify… button. The Steady State Recorder Setup wizard is displayed. The settings file selected
to be modified is displayed in the file folder.
Note: Files that are already in the Steady State Settings Files list box as default cannot be changed.

4. Select the settings screen to be modified. After the changes are made, select the Settings Summary screen
to review these changes.
5. Click Finish to save the settings changes. Click Cancel to exit the setup wizard without making changes to
the settings file. The Steady State Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed.

UNDERSTANDING THE STEADY STATE RECORDER SETUP SCREENS

Screen Layout

Tree Area
The tree area is located on the left side of the screen. In this area, a list of setup screens that must be complete
before data can be captured is displayed. When creating a new settings file, the folder for these screens reads
"New Steady State Setting." The setup screens that must be completed are ECM Parameters, Manual
Parameters, Monitored ECM Parameter, Comments, and Settings Summary.
When a setup screen needs information, a file icon ( ) displays in front of that item. When the information for an
item is complete, a check box icon ( ) displays in front of the setup screen name. The name of the screen that
currently displays in the wizard area is highlighted.

Wizard Area
The wizard area is located on the right side of the screen. This area allows the settings to be customized before
capturing data. Once complete, these settings can be saved as a *.set file.

 Setup screens – Information is entered into these screens before data can be captured. Refer to the setup
screen name for help on entering the information for the different dialog boxes.

 Buttons – An option to navigate through the setup screens. Click <Back to return to the previous screen.
Click Next> to display the next setup screen on the list.

Navigating though the setup screens


A setup screen may be selected to from either the tree area the wizard.

 Tree – Use the mouse or the up and down arrows on the keyboard to select an item from the list in the tree
area. The screen associated with this item displays to the right of the tree.

 Wizard – Click the buttons at the bottom of the screen to consecutively display the setup screens.

Note: Remember, the information that is being saved through the setup screens is only settings information.
Data Captured from the test is stored in the selected file (*.ssd) when the test is run.

USING ECM PARAMETERS SETUP SCREEN

Purpose
The ECM Parameter Setup screen allows setup of the ECM group of parameters to be used for data capture.
These are parameters for which the values are read from the ECM.

Instructions
To select a group

1. Highlight an ECM in the ECM Parameter Groups area.


2. Click the Groups... button. The Select Group dialog box is displayed.
Note: The Select Group dialog box for Steady State Recorder is similar to the Select Group dialog box in
other service tool functions. The following differences should be noted:
 The name of the selected ECM is included under the title bar

 The <TEMPORARY GROUP> cannot be selected

 Only one ECM can be selected.

For more information on the Select Group dialog box, see “Selecting a Group of Parameters.”

3. Highlight a group from the Select Group text box. Click OK. The ECM Parameter Setup screen will be
displayed.
If multiple ECMs are available, a different ECM may be selected, and then the Groups... button may be
clicked in order to select its parameters.
Note: If the Apply All Groups to All ECMs checkbox is selected, the groups listed for the ECMs will apply

to all ECMs. This applies whether one group has been selected for one ECM or if all ECMs have defined
groups. “All Selected Groups” is displayed in the group cell.

To clear one group, highlight the ECM from the ECM Parameter Groups area. Click the Clear button. “Not
Defined” is displayed in the Group column for the selected ECM.

USING THE MANUAL PARAMETERS SETUP SCREEN

Purpose
The Manual Parameters Setup screen allows groups to be set up for manual data capture. The technician must
read and enter these parameters manually in the Sea Trial Steady State Recorder main screen after the capture
has been made. These parameters cannot be added or changed after exiting Steady State Recorder.
Note: The process for choosing manual parameters is exactly the same as choosing ECM parameters.

Instructions
To select a group

1. Highlight an ECM in the ECM Parameter Groups area.


2. Click the Groups... button. The Select Group dialog box is displayed.
Note: The Select Group dialog box for Steady State Recorder is similar to the Select Group dialog box in
other service tool functions. The following differences should be noted:
 The name of the selected ECM is included under the title bar

 The <TEMPORARY GROUP> cannot be selected

 Only One ECM can be selected.

MAINTAINING A GROUP-MANUAL PARAMETERS

Purpose
Custom groups to can be created, changed, or deleted for monitoring purposes. Creating, changing, and deleting
manual parameter groups are similar to creating, changing, and deleting ECM parameters. See Selecting a
Group of Parameters for information on navigating through the Select Group dialog box.

Note: The Select Group dialog box for Steady State Recorder includes the name of the selected ECM under the
title bar. When creating a group, only one ECM may be selected at a time.
The Maintain Groups dialog box for Manual Parameters can be used to:

 Change the unit value for a CAMPAR "900" default parameter

 Create manual descriptions and specify the unit value for Custom Channels A through E.

For Manual Parameters, the CAMPAR Number is included in the Available Parameters list box.

Instructions
To change the unit value for a CAMPAR "900" default parameter:

1. Click the New button in the Select Group dialog box. The Maintain Groups dialog box is displayed.
2. Highlight a parameter in the Available parameter list box and click the > button. This moves the parameter
from the Available Parameters list box to the Group list box.
3. In the Group list box, select the new value from the Unit drop-down list.
Note: Continue to select parameters to create a group.

To create a manual parameter description/unit (Custom Channel):

1. Click the New button in the Select Group dialog box. The Maintain Groups dialog box is displayed.
2. In the Available Parameters list box, scroll down until the CAMPAR number changes to letters. This is the
area where manual parameter descriptions can be created.
3. Highlight a lettered CAMPAR Number and click the > button. This moves the parameter from the Available
Parameters list box to the Group list box.
4. In the Group list box, select the "User Defined Data" cell and type in the new description.
If needed, in the unit cell, type in the desired value. Continue to select parameters to create a group.

USING THE MONITORED PARAMETER SETUP SCREEN

Purpose
The Monitored Parameters Setup screen allows the status parameter(s) that will be displayed in the Status
Parameter area to be selected. The last parameter(s) selected displays in the Status Parameter area the next
time the settings file is used.
Note: Engine Speed and Active Diagnostic Codes present always display in the status parameter area.

Instructions
To select a status parameter for display:
In the Monitored Parameter Setup screen, highlight a parameter in the Available parameters list box and click the
> button. This will move the parameter from the Available Parameters list box to the Selected Parameter list box.

Note: This item is checked in the tree area because specific, but changeable parameters are chosen by default.

USING SETTING SUMMARY SCREEN

Purpose
The Settings Summary screen displays a summary of all of the current settings and allows the user to save
these settings. These settings can be saved as an existing setting file or as a new settings file.

Instructions
To save a new settings file:

1. After reviewing the settings, click the Finish button, or click the Save As button. The Save Settings dialog
box is displayed.
2. Type in the name of the settings file in the Setup Name text box.
3. Click OK. The Steady State Recorder-Settings Summary screen is displayed.
Click Cancel to return to the Steady State Recorder-Settings Summary screen without saving the
changes.

To save a modified settings file:


After reviewing the settings, click the Finish button. The Steady State Recorder Settings dialog box will be
displayed with the changes saved.
--OR--

1. Click the Save As… button. The Save Settings dialog box is displayed.
2. Type in the name of the settings file in the Setup Name text box.
3. Click OK. The Steady State Recorder-Settings Summary screen will be displayed.
Click Cancel to return to the Steady State Recorder-Settings Summary screen without saving the
changes.

ACCESSING SEA TRIAL STEADY STATE RECORDER

Purpose
The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder function allows engine performance data to be captured for diagnosis
assistance. The captured data can be compared with past performance data imported into the CAMPAR
(Computer Aided Marine Performance Analysis Report) program, or it can be graphed within the service tool.
Data is captured wile while the engines are at relatively consistent speeds. If the speed varies more than 20
RPM, the data is considered to be questionable. The operator must consider this when choosing the time and
location for using this feature.
A steady state data file is saved with the *.ssd extension. By default, it is saved in the …Sea Trial\Steady
State\DataLog folder where the service tool is installed. By default, the file name is "SSLog" followed by the date.

For example, SSLogDec1202_0.ssd was created on December 12, 2002, and it was the first log recorded on
that day (indicated by the _0).

Accessing
To run a steady state log:

1. Select “Sea Trial” from the Information menu. From the submenu, select “Steady State” and then
“Recorder.” The Steady State Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed.
Note: See “Setting up a Sea Trial Steady State Settings File.”

2. Select a steady state settings file. Click OK. The Save As dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Save to save the file. The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder screen is displayed.

Screen Layout
The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder screen has the following areas:

Status Parameter Area


The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder status parameter area lists the parameters required to be monitored during
the test and its current values for all detected ECMs.
The parameters listed are Engine Speed, Active Diagnostic Codes Present, and user defined parameters. To
select user defined parameters see "Using the Monitored Parameters Setup Screen."
The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder status parameter area also lists, across the top, all ECMs on the data link.

Capture Area
The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder capture area displays the data for each capture simultaneously. The data
displayed is grouped by the parameter and the ECM. After capturing the data, a column is added to the
spreadsheet detailing the parameter's readings. The engine speed for each capture is listed at the top of the
column.

Buttons
The buttons available in Sea Trial Steady State Recorder are:

 Start

 Delete

 Settings

 Comments

 Print Data

 CAMPAR

 Export

Note: The Print Data button allows the Steady State Data Log to be printed as a service tool Report File. In the
Print Document dialog box, a Print Range area displays.
Select the All Values radio button to print all data captures. Select the Highest Two Values radio button to print
the two highest engine speed data captures.
Note: The CAMPAR button is only enabled when the CAMPAR program is installed on the PC using the Sea
Trial Steady State Recorder function.

USING SEA TRIAL STEADY STATE RECORDER

Overview
Once a settings file has been selected, information can be captured from the ECM and displayed on the Sea
Trial Steady State Recorder screen.
When data is being captured, each parameter is sampled ten times and averaged. If there is a large number of
parameters to be sampled, they are tested in groups of ten until the log is complete. This could take
approximately five seconds for each ten parameters sampled.

Instructions
To capture data:

1. In the Sea Trial Steady State Recorder screen, click Start. A progress bar displays the completion status of
the information capture.
The data capturing process may be canceled at any time by clicking the Cancel button. The "Are you
sure…" message box displays. Click Yes to cancel the capture or No to continue capturing information.

2. When the data has been successfully captured, a message box displays suggesting that the manual
parameter readings be entered. It is recommended to enter this data after each capture to avoid data-entry
confusion.
Note: If the data is not entered before the Sea Trial Steady State Recorder screen is closed, if the data
link connection is lost, or if the ECM powers down (engine is turned off) this information cannot be added
or edited within the service tool.
After a successful data log capture, the information is automatically saved in the data log file.
Click OK. The Steady State Recorder screen is displayed.
A column is added to the spreadsheet detailing the parameter's readings. Note that the engine speed for
each capture is listed at the top of the column.

3. Parameters requiring manual entry data are displayed with a gray field in the cell. Type the manual readings
into the cell. Continue to enter the manual reading by scrolling down. This information is recorded with the
data file.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each data capture. When each subsequent capture is complete, a new column
is added.

Note: To exit the Sea Trial Steady State Recorder screen, select another the service tool function.

DELETING A CAPTURE

Instructions
To delete an entire column of captured data:

1. Place the cursor in one of the cells of the column (capture) to be deleted.
2. Click the Delete button. The Are you sure…" message box displays. with the selected column highlighted.

3. Click Yes to delete the column, or click No to keep the column.

ADDING COMMENTS TO THE CAPTURE

Purpose
The Comments… button allows information to be entered about the data file (*.ssd). These comments can help
identify a settings file by providing such information as why the file was created or for what type of test the
settings were made. The comments are saved with the data file and not with the settings file.

Instructions
To add a comment to the data file:

1. Click the Comments… button. The Comments dialog box is displayed.


2. Type any comments or information about the data file in the Steady State Test Comments text box.
To accept the comments, click OK. The Sea Trial Steady State Recorder screen is displayed. These
comments will be available in the Sea Trial Steady State Settings dialog box.
To exit the Comments dialog box without entering comments, click Cancel. The Sea Trial Steady State
Recorder screen is displayed.
To clear all comments, click Clear. The "Are you sure…" message box displays. Click Yes to clear the
comments or No to keep the comments. The Comments dialog box is displayed.

VIEWING THE STEADY STATE DATA LOG

Instructions
To view a Steady State Data Log:
Select "Sea Trial" from the Information menu. From the sub-menu select "Steady State" and then "Viewer". The
Select Parameters dialog box is displayed.
--OR--
Select "Open" from the File menu. From the sub-menu select "Sea Trial Steady State File". The Select
Parameters dialog box is displayed.
For further instruction, refer to "Accessing Data Log Viewer."
Note: A data link connection is not required to access files from the File menu.
Note: Data Log View may be accessed through any service tool function that supports Data Log Viewer, such as
Data Log or Sea Trial Transient Data Log.

Overview
The Sea Trial Transient functions allow data of selected groups to be recorded from the ECM as it occurs. The
data is saved in a *.sdf file. After the data has been recorded, it can be viewed graphically or exported as a
Comma Separated Value file, which can be imported into other applications (for example, Microsoft Excel).
Note: If the service tool is unable to read the data, "Unavailable," "Not Installed," or "Not Available" is inserted
into the file.
Sea Trial functions currently available on various products are:

 Recorder

 Viewer

Selecting the Viewer option is an alternative method for running the Data Log Viewer function.
Note: This function can be accessed when disconnected from the data link by selecting “Open” from the File
menu and then selecting “Sea Trial Transient State File.”

SEA TRIAL TRANSIENT RECORDER

Purpose
The Sea Trial Transient Recorder function allows multiple engine performance data to be captured or logged,
which aids in diagnosing potential problems. This function allows the flexibility to define a sample rate and the
duration of the sample.
Note: When using Sea Trial Transient Recorder with an ATA data link, a dialog box displays prompts a data link
switch. Click Yes. The Connection message box is displayed, and then Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen is
displayed.

Accessing
To run the Sea Trial Transient Recorder Function, select “Sea Trial” from the Information menu. From the
submenu, select “Transient” and then “Recorder”. The Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen is displayed.
Note: The Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed the first time this tool is used.

Screen Layout
The Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen has the following areas:

Status Line Area


The Sea Trial Transient Recorder status line area displays instructions and messages regarding the process of
the log. It also displays the time remaining for the current sample.

Setting Panel Area


The Sea Trial Transient Recorder settings panel area displays the settings that were defined in the Sea Trial
Transient Data Logger Settings dialog box. It also displays the time remaining for the current sample.
The Selected ECM Parameter area lists all the ECMs selected for logging with its selected parameters

Buttons
The buttons available in the Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen are:

USING SEA TRIAL TRANSIENT RECORDER

Instructions
To use Sea Trial Transient Recorder:

1. Click the Settings… button. The Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed.
Note: The Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box is displayed each time this tool is
accessed.

2. On the Setup tab, enter the settings to run Sea Trial Transient Recorder. If desired, enter comments and/or
information on the Log File Comments tab.
Note: For more information of the Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box, see
"Setting up Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder".

3. Click OK to accept the settings. The Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen is displayed with the settings listed
in the Settings Panel. Click Cancel to exit the Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box
without saving the settings.
The "Please wait…" message displays.

4. Click the Start button. The data log process begins and the status of the remaining logging time displays on
the status line.
 If the sample rate is less than 20 samples per minute, other service tool functions may be used while
logging. The Start button is replaced with the Stop button until Stop is clicked or the test is
completed.

 If the sample rate is set at greater than 20 samples per minute, The “Data Log Recorder is running...”
dialog box is displayed.

Note: The test may be stopped by clicking Stop Recorder. A warning dialog will be displayed: “The Data
Log Recorder is running. Are you sure you want to stop recording?” Click Yes to stop the test and return
to the Data Log Recorder screen.
When the test is finished, the status line again reads, "Please Click 'Start' to Start Logging".

5. To view the data


 a. Click Graph in the Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen. The Select Parameters dialog box of the
Data Log Viewer function is displayed. –OR—

 b. Select “Data Log” from the Information menu, and then select “Data Log Viewer” from the
submenu. The Select Parameters dialog box of the Data Log Viewer function is displayed. – OR –

 c. Select “Open” from the File menu, and then select “Data Log File” from the submenu. The Select
Parameters dialog box of the Data Log Viewer function is displayed. Note: A data link connection is

not required to access files from the File menu.

SETTING UP SEA TRIAL TRANSIENT RECORDER

Instructions
To set up the Sea Trail Transient Data Log Recorder Settings/Setup Tab:

1. Click the Settings… button from the Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen. The Sea Trial Transient Data
Logger Settings dialog box is displayed.
2. Select the Setup tab.
3. By default, the data log is saved with the extension *.sdf and is stored in the …\Datalog folder of the
program folder where the service tool is installed. The file name contains the date the log was taken.
To save the Data Log file on a drive other than the default drive, enter the new location and/or file name in
the Log File text box, or click the Browse... button to display the Save As dialog. See “Changing the
Default File.”

4. Select the rate at which the sample rate will be taken in the Sample Rate drop-down list. Select either the
Per Hour or Per Minute radio button.
5. Enter the desired duration of the sample collection in the Duration text box. Select either the Hour(s) or
Minute(s) radio button.
6. Highlight an ECM from the ECM Parameter area. Click the Add... button. The Select Group dialog box is
displayed.
Note: For more information on the Select Group dialog box, see “Selecting a Group of Parameters.”

7. Highlight a group from the Select a Group text box and click OK. The Data Log Recorder Settings dialog box
is displayed.

To clear one group, highlight the ECM from the ECM Parameter area. Click the Clear button. “Not Defined” is
displayed in the Group column for the selected ECM.

To set up Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder Settings/Log File Comments tab:

1. Click the Settings... button from the Sea Trial Transient Recorder screen. The Sea Trial Transient Data
Logger Settings dialog box is displayed.
2. Select the Log File Comments tab.
3. Enter any comments or information about the log in the Log File Comments text box.
Click Clear Text to erase all of the screen, leaving the text box area blank.
Click Default Questions to erase all text on the screen and display the default questions.
Note: Information and/or comments added in the Log File Comments text box of the Save As dialog box
are also displayed in the Log File Comments tab of the Sea Trial Transient Data Log Recorder Settings
dialog box.

ACCESSING REAL TIME GRAPHING

Purpose
Real Time Graphing monitors ECM data and displays it in graphical form as it occurs. When running Real Time
Graphing for the first time, a set of parameters must be selected to graph.

Accessing
To run the Real Time Graphing function, select “Real Time Graphing” from the Information menu. The Real Time
Graphing screen is displayed.
Note: The Select Graph Set dialog box is displayed the first time this tool is accessed.
If the Select Graph Set dialog box displays:

1. Select a set from the Select Graph Set list box. As a graph set is selected, the parameters for that set
display in the Parameters list box.
Note: Using the up and down arrows on the keyboard, each set and its parameters can be viewed
consecutively in the Select Graph Set dialog box. If a set is created, it can be selected by the first letter of
its name.
Note: A maximum of six parameters may be selected.

2. Click OK to accept the selected set. The selected set data is displayed in the Real Time Graphing screen.

Screen Layout
The Real Time Graphing screen has the following areas:

ECM Title Area


The ECM title area displays the name of the selected graph set.

Error Status Text Box


The Error Status Text Box displays errors that occur while retrieving the parameter value. If more than one error
occurs, the text box changes to a drop-down list for viewing all errors. "No Error Present" displays if there are no
errors. "Unable to plot value" displays if the selected parameter cannot be plotted.
Note: To view the list status errors in the text box, click the up and down arrows next to the text box or use the
up and down arrows on the keyboard.

Legend Area
The Real Time Graphing legend area displays the selected parameters and is located above the graph. These
parameters display with the corresponding line color. These colors cannot be changed. Parameters with an error
will display an asterisk to indicate the parameter error is listed in the Error Status text box.
The status parameter and its unit of value display on the y axis. These display on each side of the graph. These
parameters display in the line color.

Graph Area
The Real Time Graphing area displays the time in seconds on the x axis (ten seconds is default) and the
minimum and maximum values for each parameter on the y-axis. State parameters (for example, the only status
is "On" or "Off"), initially display with dashed lines until the graph begins to trace the state parameter's value.

 Hold/ Resume – Click Hold to freeze the graph. Because the service tool immediately stops updating the
graph, this will allow parameters to be viewed at a particular instance. The Hold button changes to Resume.
Click Resume to have the service tool continue updating the display.

Note: If a graph set is changed after Hold has been clicked, the graph will remain paused until Resume is
clicked.

SELECTING A GRAPH SET

Purpose
The Graph Sets button can be clicked to display Select Graph Set dialog box. This dialog box provides access
for creating, changing, and deleting graph sets.
The Maintain Graph Sets dialog box allows parameters to be assigned to a new set being created. It also allows
parameters to be changed in a graph set and/or in the Temporary Set.
Note: Some ECMs may contain defined default graph sets. These graph sets cannot be altered.
Note: Clicking OK in the Select Graph Set dialog box causes the graph to redraw.

Instructions
To select a graph set:

1. Click the Graph Sets button from the Real Time Graphing screen. The Select Graph Set dialog box is
displayed.
2. Highlight a graph set from the Select Graph Set list box and click OK. The Real Time Graphing screen
displays the selected set and its parameters.

Note: Using the up and down arrows on the keyboard, each set and its parameters can be viewed consecutively
in the Select Graph Set dialog box. If a graph set is created, it can be selected the by first letter of its name. If
there is more than one graph set with the same first letter, continually pressing the letter scrolls through those
graph sets consecutively.

CREATING A NEW GRAPH SET

Instructions
To create a new set:

1. Click the Graph Sets button from the Real Time Graphing screen. The Select Graph Set dialog box is
displayed.
2. Click the New button to create a new set. The Maintain Graph Sets dialog box is displayed.
Note: If more than one ECM is available, highlight the desired ECM in the Available ECMs list box.

3. Highlight a parameter in the Available parameters list box and click the > button. This will move parameters,

one at a time, from the Available Parameters list box to the Set list box.
A maximum of six parameters can be added to the Set list box. A warning box is displayed the user
attempts to enter more than the maximum number of parameters.

5. Enter the graph set name in the Enter Graph Set Name text box.
6. Click OK to save the new graph set name. The Select Graph Set dialog box is displayed.
Click Cancel to leave the Save Graph Set dialog box without assigning a name. The Maintain Graph Sets
dialog box is displayed.

CHANGING A GRAPH SET

Instructions
To change a set:

1. Click the Graph Sets button from the Real Time Graphing screen. The Select Graph Set dialog box is
displayed.
2. Highlight either the Temporary Set or a created set from the Select Graph Set list box and click Change.
The Maintain Graph Sets dialog box is displayed.
Note: Sets that are already in the Select Graph Set dialog box as default cannot be changed.

3. Highlight a parameter in the Available parameters list box and click the > button to move the parameters,
one at a time, to the Set list box.
4. When all desired parameters (up to six) have been selected, click OK. The "Do you want to save the current
graph set…" message box is displayed.
5. Click Yes to save the set with a different name. The Save Graph Set dialog box is displayed. Enter the new
set name in the Enter Graph Set Name text box and click OK.
Click No to keep the same set name (displayed above the Set list box). The Select Graph Set dialog box
is displayed.

DELETING A GRAPH SET

Instructions
To delete a set:

1. Click the Graph Sets button. The Select Graph Set dialog box is displayed.
2. Highlight a set from the Select Graph Set list box and click Delete. The "Are you sure…" message box is
displayed.

cannot be deleted.

SETTING UP THE GRAPH

Purpose
The Settings… button can be used to make changes to the graph. These changes include the look and color of
the graph, time range of the x-axis and change, and the displaying range of the status parameter of the y-axis.
Changing the graph settings causes the graph to redraw.
Note: If a parameter range is grayed, it cannot be changed.

Instructions
To change the graph settings:

1. Click the Settings… button. The Graph Settings dialog box is displayed.
2. Select the time, in seconds, from the X-Axis Range drop down list.
3. In the Y-Axis Range area, the status parameters are listed with their minimum and maximum default values.
To limit the range, double click on the cell and enter a new value.
Note: If a value is entered that is out of the minimum or maximum range, a message box displays stating
that the value is out of range for the selected parameter. The range for the selected parameter adjusts
automatically to a value within the range.

4. In the Options area, click the options to be displayed on the Real Time Graphing screen.
 Click “Show Grid” to display grid lines on the graph area.

 Click “Show Symbols” to display symbols on the graph lines corresponding to the symbol above the
parameter.

5. Click OK to accept the changes. The graph reflects the changes that have been made.
To return to the Real Time Graphing screen without making any changes, click Cancel. Click Default to
return the settings to the default positions.

Overview
The Snapshot functions allows snapshot data to be recorded and viewed from the ECM.

When snapshot files have been created, they can be saved by clicking the Save to File button in either the
Snapshot Recorder or Snapshot Viewer screen. Saved snapshot files may be viewed without a data link
connection.
By default, the file name is saved by the service hour meter time the snapshot was taken and may include the
following information:

 If a specific event triggered the snapshot, "Diagnostic" will display in the file name, followed by the event
code number and description.

 If the physical switch triggered the snapshot, "External Trigger-External Switch" displays in the file name.

 If the service tool was used to trigger the snapshot "External Trigger-Data Link Message" displays in the file
name.

The snapshots are saved with the extension *.xml and are stored by default in the …\Downloads\Snapshot folder
of the program folder where the service tool is installed.

ACCESSING SNAPSHOT RECORDER

Purpose
The Snapshot Recorder function provides the capability to record the activity of the parameters available on an
ECM. However, the Snapshot Recorder function captures the activity from all available parameters and displays
the parameters of the selected group(s). The parameters can be recorded from the ECM when a trigger point is
selected. Alternatively, the ECM will automatically record the information when a specific event has occurred.

Note: Triggering a Snapshot by clicking the Trigger button in the service tool causes the ECM to record a limited
set of status parameters. This set of status parameters depends on the ECM.

Instructions
To run the Snapshot Recorder function:
Select “Snapshot” from the Information menu, and then select “Recorder” from the submenu. The Snapshot
Recorder screen is displayed.
Note: The Select Group dialog box is displayed the first time this function is accessed unless a group has been
assigned somewhere else in the service tool. Once a group has been chosen, the Snapshot Recorder screen is
displayed.
If the Select Group dialog box displays:

1. Select a group from the Select a group list box. The parameters for the selected group are displayed in the
Parameters list box.
Note: Using the up and down arrows on the keyboard, each group and its parameters can be
consecutively viewed in the Select Group dialog box.

2. Click OK to accept the selected group. The selected group data is displayed in the Snapshot Recorder
screen. To leave the screen without choosing a group, click Cancel.
Note: In the Snapshot Recorder screen, each group can be viewed consecutively by using the Page Up
and Page Down keys. A specific default group can be viewed by selecting the key number corresponding
to that Group. Use the key number for groups 1 through 9, ALT + the key number for groups 10 through
19, or the 0 key for the <TEMPORARY GROUP>).

Screen Layout
The Snapshot Recorder screen has the following areas:

ECM Title Area


The ECM title area displays the selected group and the current ECM. This area is located in the upper left corner
of the screen.

Display Area
The Snapshot Recorder display area is located in the center of the screen, and includes the following columns
of the predefined status parameters.

 Description - Provides the name of the parameter

 Value - Displays the status of the selected parameter.

 Unit - Displays the type of unit of measure for the value

Note: If Active Diagnostic Codes are present for On Highway trucks, another column displays before the Value
column to indicate a problem with the specific parameter.
When a parameter is not supported by the current ECM, or if an error occurred while reading the data,
"Unavailable" is displayed in the Value column.

Buttons
The buttons available in the Snapshot Recorder screen are:

 Groups

 Zoom In/Zoom Out – Click this button to display the values in larger text for increased visibility, or to return
the values to the normal text size.
Note: If five or more parameters are in a group, a scroll bar may appear while the Zoom feature is being
used.

 Active Codes

 Trigger – Click this button to record a limited number of status parameters at a faster rate than can be
logged in the Data Log Recorder. These snapshots are listed as “External Trigger-Data Link Message” in
the Select ECM Snapshot dialog box.

To run the Snapshot Viewer function, select “Snapshot” from the Information menu, and then select Viewer from
the submenu, or select “Open” from the file menu, and then select “Snapshot File” from the submenu.

Note: When the Snapshot Viewer function is accessed from the File menu, only view data saved as a file may
be viewed. Data that is stored in the current ECM is not available. Therefore, the Select Source drop-down will
only display "File" as an option.

Screen Layout
The Snapshot Viewer/data screen has the following areas:

Title Area
The Title area displays the identification name of the selected snapshot.

Display Area
The display area is located in the center of the screen and displays the values, units, and descriptions of the
ECM parameters, including the ECM name and the selected status group name. A value of "Unavailable" is
displayed if the ECM has a parameter that cannot be included in the snapshot or if an error occurs while reading
the data.
Note: In the Snapshot Recorder screen, each group can be viewed consecutively by using the Page Up and
Page Down keys. A specific default group can be viewed by selecting the key number corresponding to that
Group. Use the key number for groups 1 through 9, ALT + the key number for groups 10 through 19, or the 0 key
for the <TEMPORARY GROUP>).

Control Area
The Control Area is comprised of two areas:
Frame Scrolling
The following three text items surround the scroll bar:

 Above the scroll bar, the trigger point is indicated by a V

 To the left and right of the scroll bar, the time preceding and following the trigger point is indicated

 Below the scroll bar, the frame numbers relative to the total number of frames is displayed

To use the frame scroll bar, click the right or left scroll bar arrows. The arrows will increase or decrease the
frame number by one. By clicking the pointer in the actual scrolling area, before or after the scroll box, the
frames increase or decrease by ten.
Position control
The position control area allows the different frame positions to be displayed through the use of buttons. The
buttons used in this area are:

 - Click to display the frame positions continuously in fast reverse

 - Click to display the frame positions continuously in reverse

 - Click to display the frame positions in reverse by one position

SELECT ECM SNAPSHOT

Overview
The Select ECM Snapshot dialog box allows a snapshot to be selected either from a file or from the current
ECM. This information can then be viewed as digital data or as graphical data.
The Select Source drop-down in the Select ECM Snapshot dialog box allows selection between viewing a
snapshot on the current ECM or a snapshot that was saved to a file.
Note: The Select ECM Snapshot dialog box displays when the Snapshot Viewer function is first entered.

Instructions
To select a snapshot from the current ECM:
Note: When a snapshot is selected from the current ECM, the user has the option to view snapshots recorded
when a trigger point is selected or when a specific event occurs. These snapshots are stored in the ECM.

1. In the Select Current ECM Snapshot dialog box, select “Current ECM” from the Select Source dropdown list.
2. Highlight the snapshot to be viewed from the ECM Snapshot list box. The ECM Trigger Date and Time of
the selected snapshot are displayed in the Snapshot Information area.
3. Select View Data to view the parameters digitally. Select the View Graph button to view the parameters
graphically.

Note: Highlighting a snapshot from the ECM Snapshot list box and clicking the Clear button will delete the
selected snapshot from the ECM. Clicking the Clear All button deletes all snapshots from the ECM.
To select a snapshot from a file:
Note: When a snapshot is selected from a file, a data link connection is not required. These snapshots are saved
with the extension *.xml and are stored by default in the …\Downloads\Snapshot folder of the program folder
where the service tool is installed.

1. In the Select Current ECM Snapshot dialog box, select "File" from the Select Source drop-down list.
2. By default, the last snapshot file viewed is selected. To view a different snapshot file, click the Browse…

5. Select View Data to view the parameters digitally. Select the View Graph button to view the parameters

ACCESSING PROGNOSTIC DOWNLOAD

Purpose
Prognostics Download allows prognostics data to be downloaded quickly and easily from all available ECMs.
This information can be saved as a text file (*.txt).
Note: For some products, Prognostic Download is available from the engine ECM. However, the prognostic data
will display from all ECMs that are connected to the service tool.
When information is downloaded and analyzed at regular intervals, certain types of histograms and cumulative
data can be valuable in identifying repairs before failure occurs. Repairs before failure provide lower repair cost
and improved machine availability.
All of the data in Prognostic Download is available through other service tool functions such as Logged
Diagnostic Codes or Events, Current Totals, or Histograms. Prognostic Download conveniently gathers the
information into one place.

Accessing
To run the Prognostics Download function, select “Prognostics Download” from the Information menu. The
Prognostics Download screen is displayed.

Screen Layout
The Prognostics Download screen has the following areas:

Display Area
The Display Area includes the following columns:

 Available Download Information – This column displays the available diagnostic codes, cumulative totals,
and histograms
Note: All available prognostic items are preceded by a check box. Only the checked parameters are
included in the data transfer. By default, all items are checked.

 Download Status. This column displays the progress as the information is downloaded. It also indicates if
the download was "Completed" or if it "Failed."

LOADING DATA FROM THE ECM

Purpose
The Load Data button allows data to be loaded from the ECM to the Prognostics Download screen.

Instructions
To download the information from the ECMs:

1. Click Load Data button. As the data is loading from the ECM, the "Please wait…" message is displayed.
Then, the "Downloading..." progress bar displays, showing the status of the download.
The downloading process can be canceled at any time by clicking the Cancel button. The "Are you
sure..." message box displays. Click Yes to cancel loading the data. No partial file is saved. Click No to
continue the download process.
Note: The Cancel button is disabled when histograms are being downloaded.

2. When the download is complete, a message box displays with the result of the download.
3. Click OK. The Prognostics Download screen is displayed with the Save Data button enabled.

SAVING THE PROGNOSTIC DATA TO A FILE

Purpose
The Save Data button allows the downloaded Prognostic data to be saved to a file.
Downloaded data, which may include totals, histogram data, logged codes, as well as ECM summary
information, can be saved to a text file.
By default, the prognostic data file is saved by engine serial number, date the log was taken, and the time the log
was taken to the second.

Example
File name "[Link]" means:
9DG12345 Engine Serial Number
030325 Date log was taken by year-month-day (March 25, 2003)
212513 Time log was taken to the second (9:25:13PM)

The prognostic data stored by default in the …\Downloads folder of the program folder where the service tool is
installed.

SEGMENTS

Purpose
The Segment function allows performance parameters and totals accumulated to be viewed. Different
parameters display for the data analysis.
Trip Segment functions and data currently available on various products are:

 Driver – data collected from the time the engine is turned on until it is turned off

 Fleet – data collected from the time the fleet job begins. This data is continuous until it is reset. As a result,
the data is a collection of overall fleet work, not just the fleet work performed by one driver.

 Current (Field) – most current data collected since the current totals were rest. This information is then
compared with the previous totals.

 Previous – the reset current field totals (deleting the previous field totals). This function allows a comparison
between the tractor’s performance on two different fields. Each time this data is taken, the “new” previous
field totals overwrite the “old” previous field totals.

 Rolling – data collected throughout a particular period. These rolling totals are independent of the field
totals.

 Lifetime – data collected throughout the lifetime of the machine. Lifetime parameters cannot be reset.

 Job – latest data collection since the job totals were reset. Once the job is reset, this information is deleted.

 Trip – latest data collection since the trip totals were reset.

Job Segment functions currently available on various products are:

 Driver – data collected from the time the engine is turned on until it is turned off

HISTOGRAM

Purpose
The Histogram function views two-dimensional and three dimensional histograms. A histogram is a graphical or
charted representation of the parameters’ data over time.
The Total Hours displayed in the histogram may not correspond to total engine running hours. Histograms only
accumulate data at the most appropriate running conditions to maximize the value of the histogram information.

Accessing
Perform the following steps to view a histogram:

1. Select “Histogram…” from the Information menu. If more than one histogram exists on the ECM, the
Histograms Selector dialog box will display all of the available histograms.
2. Highlight the desired histogram from the Histograms Selector dialog box and click OK. The Histogram
screen displays with the selected information.

Screen Layout
The Histogram screen has the following areas:

Graph Layout
Two-dimensional histograms compare two parameters and display this data using a bar graph.
Three dimensional histograms compare three parameters and display this data using a tabular chart.

View Options Drop-down List


The available options in the View Options drop-down list depend upon the type of histogram selected:

 For two-dimensional histograms, the drop-down list provides label options. Users may either choose to show
all labels on the histogram or only when a bin is moused over. (Note: The mouse-over option is
automatically selected when the number of bins is greater than 30.) Additionally, users may choose to view
the graph at up to 8x its standard size.

 For three dimensional histograms, the drop-down list provides options for the standard of measurement to
be used in the chart, for example, percentage.

The Histograms... button is available on the Histogram screen. Click this button to display the Histograms
Selector dialog box.

CUSTOM DATA

Purpose
The Custom Data function allows specific data reports to be created by programming a standard of
measurement for monitoring into the ECM.. Once the standard has been selected, measurements and their
conditions are defined.
Note: Customer Passwords may be required the first time a custom report is defined.

To run the Custom Data screen, select “Custom Data” from the Information menu. The Custom Data screen is
displayed.

DEFINING CUSTOM REPORTS

Purpose
Clicking the Define button allows a custom report to be created in the Define Custom Report dialog box. For
monitoring purposes, the information that is selected and entered in the Define Custom Report dialog box is
used to program the ECM.

Instructions
To define a custom report:

1. Select one of the data blocks in the Custom Data screen. Click the Define button. The Define Custom
Report dialog box is displayed.
Note: Changes can be made to the data blocks at any time, as long as the appropriate block is
highlighted when the data is defined. Passwords may be required in the Enter Customer Passwords
dialog box the first time define a custom report is defined.

2. Use the Data drop-down list to select the standard of measurement. The choices available include:

3. Use the "When" drop-down lists and text boxes in the center section of the dialog box to choose and enter

4. Click OK to accept the defined custom. The “Are you sure” message box is displayed.
5. Click Yes to continue. The Custom Data screen displays the changes.

Purpose
The Reset function allows recorded data to be completely cleared so that a new series of data records may be
begun. you to reset data. The data is the same in both the Segment function and the Reset function.
Reset functions currently available on various products include:

Instructions
To run the Reset function:

1. Select “Reset” from the Information menu, and then select a trip reset option from the submenu. The "Do
you want to continue?" message box is displayed.
Note: Customer Passwords may be required to perform the Reset function.

2. Click Yes to clear all the data. The “...data is successfully reset” message box is displayed. Click OK. The

ACCESSING DATA TRANSPORT

Purpose
The Data Transport functionality allows data to be sent from a file to an ECM or to be retrieved from an ECM and
then saved to a file.
Transportable files can be read and displayed by the service tool. Some transportable files can also have data
written to them by the service tool.

Accessing
To run the Data Transport function, select “Data Transport” from the Information menu. The Data Transport
screen is displayed.

Screen Layout

Display Area
The display area lists transportable data that was loaded from the ECM. The transportable data displays by
categories. Each category item is preceded by a check box. Only checked parameters are included in data
transfers.
There are two columns in the display area. The first column lists the category of the transportable data, and the
second column lists whether or not the ECM supports the data.
Note: Parameters that are grayed cannot be unchecked because they are unavailable or not programmed.

Buttons
The buttons available in the Data Transport screen are:

 Load from ECM

 Program ECM

 Load from File

 Save to File

LOADING DATA FROM THE ECM

Purpose
The information that is loaded from the ECM is a list of all data files available on the ECM.

Instructions
To load data from the ECM:

1. Select “Data Transport” from the Information menu or click the Load from ECM button from the data
Transport screen. As the data is loading from the ECM, the "Please wait…" message is displayed.
2. When the data has been successfully loaded, "The data has been successfully loaded…" message box is

3. Click OK. The Data Transport screen displays a list of files from the ECM that are transportable.

SAVING THE DATA TO A FILE

Purpose
The Save to File button allows the data to be saved to a file.
By default, the file name is saved by date and time the file was saved.

Example:
File name OffboardData_031110160650.xml

 OffboardData_ - Data Transport file

 040122 Date the log was taken by year-month-day (22 January 2004)

 160650 Time log was taken to the second (4:06:50PM)

A Data Transport file is saved with the extension *xml and is stored by default in the …\Downloads\Offboard
Files folder of the program folder where the service tool is installed.

Instructions
To save the data to a file:
Note: In order to save a file, data must first be loaded from the ECM using the Load ECM List button.

1. Click the Save to File button. The Save As dialog box is displayed.
2. Click Save. As the data is being saved, a progress bar is displayed. Click Cancel to return to the Data
Transport screen without saving the data.
3. When the data has been successfully saved, the "Offboard Data saved successfully" message box is
displayed. Click OK. The Data Transport screen is displayed.

PROGRAMMING THE ECM

Purpose
The Program ECM button allows the current ECM to be programmed with data from a file that was previously
saved into the ECM.

Instructions
To program the ECM:
Note: In order to program the ECM, a previously saved data file must be opened first, using the Load from File
button.

1. Click the Program ECM button. The Programming Data dialog box is displayed.
2. When the data has been successfully programmed, the "Programming Complete." message box is
displayed.
3. Click OK. The Data Transport Screen is displayed.

ACCESSING WARRANTY REPORT

Purpose
The Warranty Report captures the information necessary for filing a warranty claim regarding major engine
repairs, drivability issues, and electronic failures.

When the service tool is launched, the Warranty dialog box appears, prompting the creation of a warranty report.
Click Yesto launch the Warranty Report screen. Click No to launch the service tool summary screen.

The Warranty Report function can also be accessed by clicking Warranty Report icon on the toolbar, or by
selecting “Warranty Report” from the Information menu.

Screen Layout
The Warranty Report screen consists of the following areas:

Tree Area
The Tree Area is located on the left side of the Warranty Report screen. The Tree Area displays each connected
ECM and the report information type for each ECM. Clicking an option in the Tree Area displays detailed
information in the Display Area. The types of report information are as follows:

 User Information - Relevant data for identifying the machine, the dealer, and the type of problem.

 ECM Information - Data on events and code that have been logged on the machine
Note: When this is selected, a dialog box displays, prompting a data download. Click Yes to download the
data. Click No to download the data at a later time. If No is clicked, the code and event information may
be collected by clicking the Download button.

 Cylinder Cutout Reports - Previously saved Cylinder Cutout reports to be included within the warranty
report. These reports may be attached by clicking .

 Additional Service Tool Files - Additional service tool files to be included within the warranty report. These
reports may be attached by clicking .

 Summary Information - Detailed report file data as well as relevant metrics regarding the ECM and the
machine.

Display Area
The Display Area displays the gathered report information and allows information to be typed or added into
relevant fields. To navigate between report views, click on the relevant report in the Tree Area, or click the
<<Back or Next>> buttons located at the bottom of the Display Area. When the report is complete, click the
Submit Report button to finalize and submit the report.

Buttons
The buttons available in the Warranty Report screen are:

 New Report - Opens a new warranty report. When clicked, a dialog box displays, prompting the current
report to be saved.

 Open Report - Opens an existing warranty report. When clicked, a dialog box displays, prompting the
current report to be saved. The Open Warranty Report Data File dialog box then displays.

 Save - Submits the report to the Caterpillar SIMS system. When clicked, a dialog box displays, prompting
the current report to be saved. Clicking OK saves the report; clicking Cancel allows further changes to be
made.

 Submit Report - Submits the report to the Caterpillar SIMS system. When clicked, a dialog box displays,
prompting the current report to be saved. Clicking OK saves the report; clicking Cancel allows further
changes to be made.

 History - Opens the Submission History window. The Submission History provides important submission
information, such as submission date/time, the status of the submission, and a confirmation code for each
submission.

USING WARRANTY REPORT

Instructions
To use the Warranty Report function:

1. Click on User Information in the Tree Area of the Warranty Report screen. The User Information details
display in the Display Area of the screen.
2. Click in the individual cells to modify the User Information data.
3. When all relevant information has been changed or added, click on the Next>> button at the bottom of the
screen. The ECM Information screen displays. A dialog box also displays, prompting data download. Click
Yes to download the data. The data will download.
Note: If No is clicked, the data may be collected at a later time by clicking the Download button.
Note: Information downloaded from the ECM will not be automatically displayed on the screen. To view
information that has been downloaded from the ECM, use the Print Preview function, accessible from the
File menu.

4. When the data download is complete, click the Next>> button. The Cylinder Cutout Reports screen displays.
In this screen two files may be attached to the Warranty Report. One file should contain “Not OK” results
from a Cylinder Cutout Test. The other file should contain “OK” results from the test.
Note: The same file may not be used for both the “Not OK” and “OK” Cylinder Cutout Reports.

5. Click the Next>> button. The Additional Service Tool Files screen displays. Additional service tool files may
be attached to the warranty report.
6. When additional files have been attached, click the Next>> button. The Summary Information screen
displays. The values in this screen are automatically generated and cannot be modified.
7. To finish the Warranty Report, click the Submit Report button. A dialog will prompt the current report to be
saved. Click OK to save the report. The report may continue to be modified by clicking the Cancel button.
Note: The Warranty Report is automatically named in the following format:
[Link].
 WRPT = Warranty Report
 XXXXXXX = Filler Letters
 NNNNNNNNNN = Engine Serial Number
 DDMMYY = Date (Date, Month, Year)
 HHMMSS = Time (Hour, Minute, Second)

8. When the Warranty Report has been saved, a dialog displays. Click OK to submit the saved report to the
Caterpillar SIMS system. A message box will display if the submission was successful. Click Cancel to
submit at a later time.
Note: The New Report button may be used to open a new warranty report. When this button is clicked, a
dialog box displays, prompting the current report to be saved. Any information that is not saved will be
lost.
Note: The Open Report button may be used to open an existing warranty report. When this button is
clicked, a dialog box displays, prompting the current report to be saved. The Open Warranty Report Data
File dialog box is then displayed.

Note: The Warranty Report function is accessible if the connection between the service tool and the ECM
is lost. Loading previously saved warranty reports; modifying existing warranty reports; and saving the
modifications made to the warranty report will be allowed in this state. Downloading ECM information or
creating new reports will not be allowed.
To access the Warranty Report function while the ECM is disconnected, select “Open” from the File
Menu, and then select “Warranty Report Data File.” The Open Warranty Report Data File dialog box
displays.

CYCLE COUNTER

Purpose
The Cycle Counter function allows totals that are calculated for the lifetime of a machine, for the jobsite, and for
the operator to be viewed and reset. A “trip” consists of the time spent at a jobsite, and a “trip segment” consists
of an operator’s shift, which is determined by a change of operator.

Accessing
To run the Cycle Counter function, select “Cycle Counter” from the Information menu. The Cycle Counter screen
is displayed.

Screen Layout
The Cycle Counter screen has the following areas:

Tree Area
This area lists the Job Sites and Segments for the Cycle Counter.

Status Area
The Status display are has three columns:

 Description – lists the description of each monitored total for the Cycle Counter

 Value – Provides the value of the monitored total

 Unit – Displays the unit of measure of the monitored total

RESETTING THE CYCLE COUNTER

Purpose
The purpose of this functionality is to allow the user to reset the totals that are displayed in the Cycle Counter
function.

Accessing
To run the Cycle Counter Reset function, select Cycle Counter Reset from the Information menu, and then select
the desired data to be reset. A warning box is displayed. To reset the Cycle Counter totals, click Yes. The Cycle
Counter will be reset, and the Cycle Counter Reset screen will be displayed blank.

USING COMPONENT CONFIGURATION

Purpose
The Component Configuration feature allows users to replace or configure components such as valves and
cylinders.

Accessing
To access the Component Configuration feature, select "Component Configuration" from the Information menu.

Screen Layout
The Component Configuration screen has the following areas:

Component Type
The Component Type area is located at the top of the Component Configuration screen. It identifies the
Component Type as well as the File Name from which the component information is provided.

Component Information
The Component Information area is composed of three columns:

 Description - lists the configurable parameters for the selected component

 Value - lists the measurement of the parameter

 Unit - lists the unit of measurement for the parameter

The buttons available in the Component Configuration screen are:

 Load from File - Click this button to load configurable component information from a file

 Program ECM - Click this button to program the ECM with the configurable component information

To configure a component:

1. Click the Load from File button. The Open Component Configuration File dialog box is displayed.
2. Select the desired component configuration file and click Open. The Component Configuration screen loads
the information from the file.
3. Click the Program ECM button. The Verify Component Information dialog box is displayed.
4. Enter the correct Hardware Part Number and Hardware Serial Number, and click OK. The Component
Configuration is programmed to the ECM.

PRODUCT STATUS REPORT

Purpose
The Product Status Report feature allows users to capture the status of a machine or engine at a specific
moment in time. Data loaded from the ECM is compiled in the Product Status Report and includes parameters,
user comments, and user-selected diagnostics and/or configuration information. The report is automatically
saved once it has been created and may be viewed immediately or at a later time.

Accessing

To access the Product Status Report feature, click the Product Status Report button on the toolbar, or select
“Product Status Report” from the Information menu.

Screen Layout
The Product Status Report screen has the following areas:

User Information Area


The User Information area includes several text boxes in which the user can enter specific information specific to
be included in the Product Status report.
Note: All required fields are automatically populated with default information provided by the ECM; however, this
information can be modified if desired.
The text boxes in this area include:

 Report Name – Required field. By default, the report is identified by the report type and product id or engine
serial number.

 Product ID/Engine Serial Number – Required field.

 Equipment ID

 Comments

 Download List Area – Required field. This area includes several diagnostic, configuration, and histogram
checkboxes. Click the appropriate checkbox to include specific information in the report.

Buttons
The following buttons are available in the Product Status Report screen:

 Create Report – Click this button to create a Product Status Report. After the selected information is loaded
from the ECM, the Product Status Report is displayed and saved in the XML format. Click Close Report to
return to the Product Status Report screen. Click Save As to save the Product Status Report with a different
name, to a different location, or in a different format (for example, PDF).

 Open Report – Click this button to open an existing Product Status Report.
