WEEK: _Two – Conduct of Activity _ DATE: March 10, 2021
Complete each of the statements briefly and write your reflection on this week's lesson/
topic.
I used to think that:
 Sports, is a competitive industry, rife with the adage that "practice makes better."
This concept has been passed down over decades as fact, and there is now
much mainstream belief and misinformation that you must hammer oneself out in
order to be a successful athlete. All that matters are rigorous training sessions to
achieve their goals and be one step closer to the gold medal they want. I used to
believe that we must admire the image of a satisfied, prosperous winner. That
the world's greatest athletes are extraordinary, and athletes should be awestruck
by their abilities and revel in their glory. Besides which, I used to think about
volunteering, and while I have done some, there are several questions that I can't
seem to get my head around. Considering my personal life before investing my
time and resources to an entity or cause especially since I am still in college.

Now I know that:

 People in sports have diverse mindsets, and sports are more than just about
being among the greatest players. Many athletes do not choose to compete in
the Olympics. Some choose not to participate in competitive sports. Some of
them just want to have enjoy, meet new people, value the experience of sports,
and also have a great time partaking in engaging, exciting, enjoyable, and
pleasant sporting events. I also learned that the road to the pinnacle in sports
isn't as easy as accumulating hours or following well-defined paths. There will be
encounters of rough play, unfairness that could degrade one’s spirit, however
one must remember that it is inevitable to face numerous highs and lows both
within and outside of sports. Hence why, promoting sports regulations is a must
during competitions and trainings to ensure the fairness and wellbeing of all
players that should be enforced at all times. The sports or game needs rules to
govern how an action is taken forth, such as how points are earned, whether a
game or match is won, and what equipment should be used. Unless there are no
rules, there will be no system to instruct the participants on how to play the sport.
Moreover, aside from the actual norms and guidelines of conduct involved in
sports, there are also other unwritten rules that must be upheld at all times to
promote correct behavior, such as regard for teammates, authorities, and others,
fair play, as well as good sportsmanship. I also now know that there is myriad of
ways where certain elite level could be attained, not just through rigorous training
sessions that easily burn out an individual. In trainings, an individual should keep
in mind the weight training principles as well as the F.I.T.T. principle which can
help in creating a workout plan that will help achieve fitness goals more
effectively. F.I.T.T. is an acronym that stands for frequency, intensity, time, and
type of exercise. Moreover, The F.I.T.T. approach indicates how to tweak your
program to get in shape and achieve better results. It also teaches how to vary
your workouts to avoid boredom, overuse injuries, and weight loss plateaus.
Consequently, I also realized the importance of Volunteering as well as its
benefits. Sharing with others will also help you keep your well ‐being in balance. It
can alleviate stress, overcome depression, keep your brain stimulated, and give
a sense of meaning. Not only does volunteering help a person in their personal
growth, there is growth through new encounters, new people, and perhaps new
locations, as well as engaging with people outside of the social or job circle. It
also promotes assimilation into new communities, as well as a deeper view of
oneself. Of course, there are even more possible drawbacks to volunteering, but
it is up to each person to be aware and weigh the options for themselves before
contributing to supporting an organization or debating whether to continue
volunteering. If an individual loves making a difference by improving the lives of
others, he will find a way to continue his passion.
However, I am not sure:
 If I would be able to do volunteer work during this pandemic because of my
limited resources. Even if volunteerism is not all about donating funds and all, it is
particularly challenging now that there are all these implemented health
protocols, as well as the financial trouble.
I hope/plan to:
 Uphold correct behavior and other good attitude that I can hopefully obtain from
engaging in sports activities. I hope that it will give me requisite life skills and
positively shape my personality apart from the obvious  health benefits that come
along with being physically active. Moreover, I also hope that through my newly
gathered knowledge in this lesson, I can help in instilling respect for rules and
authority in our community, especially when everything goes back to normal and
barangay liga and other sports competition can be held again. I also plan to help
even at my own way during this pandemic. I want to reach out to my parents and
discuss with them how we can help our community, maybe a simple food
distribution would do, just to get them through the recurring quarantine in our
region.
Overall, I feel, because:
 Overall, this lesson has given me a second angle of how things work. I learned
more about the facets of sports and what goes behind the competitions that
people watch. I learned the nature of sports and how it helps in disciplining an
individual. It is also nice to know that volunteering has surprising benefits to the
giver too. Although, you expect nothing in return when doing volunteer work, It’s
nice to see the underlying benefits that I wasn’t able to acknowledge at first. It
sparked this urge to help more and maybe also find my own purpose along the
way.
