MAPPING OF COURSE OUTCOMES WITH

SEMESTER END EXAMINATION (SEE) MODELQUESTION PAPER

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The course should enable the students to:

I The fundamental concepts of various airframe designs, aircraft propulsion systems and
aerodynamic forces/moments acting on the aircraft and spacecraft under static and dynamic
load conditions.
II The characteristics of stability and performance of an aircraft and the role of primary and
secondary controls in longitudinal and lateral stability.
III The properties of different materials that are used in industries for manufacturing various
components of an aircraft and spacecraft.
IV The mathematical modeling of tailless aircraft, flapping wing aircraft and innovative designs
in modern aircraft for future requirements.
COURSE OUTCOMES (COs):

After successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

CO 1 Understand the theoretical knowledge behind the design and development of aircrafts and
spacecraft for distinguishing them based on the mission requirements.
CO 2 Apply Newton’s law of motion to determine the governing equations, for interpreting the
physics of flow over an aircraft and spacecraft.
CO 3 Explain the topology and geometric specifications of an aircraft and spacecraft for
identifying the suitable engineering applications under appropriate parametric assumptions
and limitations.
CO 4 Solve the performance parameters of an aircraft and spacecraft based on the aerodynamic
forces and moments acting on the body.
CO 5 Describe the properties of an international standard atmosphere for identifying the
suitable aircraft and/or spacecraft model for different transport scenarios
CO 6 Explain the different types of stability techniques and their usage in real world
applications by understanding its limitations and safety measures.
CO 7 Classify different types of aircraft propulsion systems and the effect of operating variables
on its performance.
CO 8 Explain different material properties and their usage in different segments of aircraft and
spacecraft.
CO 9 Discuss the importance of the aircraft wing, for generating maximum lift by reducing the
specific fuel consumption.
CO 10 Understand selection criteria and properties of materials to perform under adverse
conditions for design the new components as per the requirements.
CO 11 Choose an appropriate airframe design to withstand all types of loads in different flight
conditions.
CO 12 Design the advanced UAVS models like flapping wing models and micro-aerial
