INTRODUCTION
The documentary titled, “I-Witness:
dokumentaryo ni Kara David” in its first
episode in E-series named “unwanted”;
released on April 13, 2021 and was hosted
by Kara David; produced by Petronilo
Samson jr.
Mainly tackles the world of online
abortion, how it works, how accessible it
is and how many people have
experienced and engaged with this
procedure.
MAIN ARGUMENT/
PRURPOSE
Basically, the film talks about abortion, which means a
process of terminating a fetus, and as said in the
documentary film of Kara David, this action became a
controversial issue specially in the Philippines and the main
argument here is to inform us about the possible effects of
unsafe online abortion and what made a woman chose to end
up to do the act and be engage in an unsafe procedure of
abortion.

STRATEGIES
Kara David interviewed three woman she found from the social media,
the first woman was the one who sells abortion pills. Secondly, the one
who went abortion through buying pills and accessing clinic who
performs this act from online and the one who didn't pursue near
abortion to prove the purpose or the main argument of the fim
She also ask medical advice from an expert like an Obstetrician-
Gynecologist to give more information about how this act effective when
it's from online and how this inappropriate or unauthorized personnel to
practice this unsafe abortion.

HOW DOES THE STRUCTURE OF THE
FILM HELP ACHIEVE ITS PURPOSE?
The team behind the production of the documentary was able to gather
subjective and objective data by conducting an interview with women who
have or almost experienced abortion.
They made an emphasis on the risks and negative consequences of
abortion. However, with the help of the abortion pill seller named Yanz, the
structure of the documentary was able to raise an awareness about the
current situation of the abortion in the Philippines. There are several clips
that shows how accessible abortion is because of the presence and
advancement of social media.
HOW VALID IS THE
ARGUMENT?
The argument that this case discusses is valid since they tackled the issues
regarding online abortion and how dangerous it is especially when they are done by
inappropriate or unregistered personnel in which it could violate the ethical
responsibilities.
The validity of the argument depends on the information given, how they approach
the issues wherein they have provide facts about the procedure and also included
testimonials from those who experienced it particularly those who administers it such
as the lady who sells abortion pills, the young adult who purchased the pills and also
experienced abortion through online.
POINT OF VIEW/ OPINION
As I see it, I totally agree that today’s generation or nowadays became aware of online
abortion and we’re very open to talk about it even in online platforms. Actually, it is one
of the main arguments today in the society because some were not in favor of
legalizing abortion and some people were in favor of it. But as long as the principle of
autonomy is not violated, I will not be against abortion
Although it included facts, it mainly focused on the risks of the procedure and only
included little details regarding the reasons and the overall effect of it in a person which
violates the autonomy of a person since it lacks information that could affect the
decision making of a person.
Frankly, the film made me feel anxious at first because it immediately delivered the
risks of abortion to the woman involved in the procedure. As seen from the
documentary, abortions were performed in an unsafe manner within a septic area. We
all know that if proper asepsis is absent, there is a great risk for infection which may
cause death.
POINT OF VIEW/ OPINION
For me, If I were to be asked which side I am into, I would say that I respect both of
them, if ever they are to get an abortion or not, then the decision it is up to them.
From what I've seen, it's sad to know that many people are doing abortions, it's just
surprising because some women prefer to spend a lot of money just to have an
abortion, there are also those who pretend to be nurses just to earn money, we know
that in the eyes of god and in the eyes of people that abortion is a great sin because
you killed a person especially and it has no firstborn in life.

The purpose is successfully conveyed
the film “Unwanted’. Kara David provides all the information needed to support
the issue of online abortion. In support, she interviewed different people
randomly from an online page of abortion to prove the argument.
Through the use of motion picture, it had a huge bearing on the way we viewed
ourselves and the world around us. As students and as a woman, as we’re watching
this kind of films, the urge to listen is unstoppable because we can actually
understand their decisions because of their situation. We have to respect their choice
and maybe learn from all those experiences and to the testimonials of these women.
