Dear Student,
To be here, you have to be a student of Computer Science - Group A in 400L.
Welcome to COSC 423 – Artificial Intelligence and Applications. It entails a
general introduction to Artificial Intelligence as a key element of fifth
generation computing, as well as a multidisciplinary concept that revolves around
Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology, Economics,
Neuroscience, Control Theory & Cybernetics.
We will also be looking at the application areas where AI can be found in today’s
world and how AI mechanisms help bring out the finesse we see today in the world of
technology. Some of these areas include but are not limited to robotics, expert
systems, computer vision, genetic algorithm, machine learning, data mining,
bioinformatics, nanotechnology, facial recognition, neural networks, natural
language processing, speech synthesis and recognition. Students will be introduced
to Python Programming as well as Data Science using R-Programming language.
At the end of the semester, students would have been reasonably immersed into
various concepts that drive Artificial Intelligence, both from a theoretical and
application points of view. Data Science as a trending specialization will expose
students to concepts in machine learning and analytics.
Welcome to 400L.
