CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

In this chapter, the Research Design, Research Procedure, Research


Instrument, and Research Respondents are being discussed.

Research Design

The research design used in this study is Phenomenology. Since


phenomenology describes the common meaning of several individual’s lived
experience about a phenomenon and this design accurately fits their topic. The
purpose of this strategy is to generate a universal description of a phenomenon
from its several individual contexts. This technique applies the process of
analyzing and understanding deeper the life of the chosen professional
psychologists and their success in their work.

Research Respondent

The researchers agreed to have 4 professional and successful


psychologists as their respondents. These psychologists are Miss Mona Carmel
Benignos, Miss Arianne Janica Serad, Miss Hessah Mapa and Mr. Duke Naveo
Alcover.

Miss Mona Carmel Ledres Benignos is an HR Assistant in Austal Phil Pty Ltd.
She is 21 years old and was born on April 10, 1997 in Balamban Cebu. She
lived in Calag-itan, Buanoy, Balamban, Cebu. Her mother’s name is Helen
Benignos and her father is Agapito Benignos. She graduated at the Cebu
Normal University last year, 2017 with a degree of BA Psychology. Her motto in
life is “Carpe Diem” which means “Seize the day.”

Miss Arianne Janica Serad is 23 years old and currently working at FAIRBANK
(First Agro-Industrial Rural Bank INC.) as an HR Recruitment Officer. She was

born on November 2, 1994 at Velez General Hospital. She lived in Cebu City
and her parents name is Mr. Francisco Serad and Mrs. Janica Mae. Her motto
in life is “always be optimistic in life and there you will grab a lot of opportunity
for yourself.”

Mr. Duke Naveo Alcover is 22 years old, he works as a Human Resource


Support Associate. He was born on May 4, 1996 at Carcar City. He lived in
Carcar City. His mother’s name is Fe Lucy Naveo and his father is Teodomiro
Alcover. His motto in life “challenge yourself to become better everyday.”

Miss Hessah Mapa is a 20-year-old Guidance Staff in USJR- Balamban


Campus. She was born on November 22, 1997 in Pasay City, Manila. She lived
in Sta. Cruz, Balamban, Cebu. She is Azucena Mapa and Franklin Mapa’s
daughter.

Research Instrument

The instruments that the researchers used in this study are questionnaire
and interview. Questionnaire was sent through Facebook Messenger and used
personal interview. These instruments were used as their tool to gather the
data they need as the basis for analysis.

Research Procedure

Each member looked for one professional psychologist for the entire
group through the researchers’ family colleagues. There are four (4)
professional psychologists they interviewed through personal interview and
Facebook messenger that served as their research respondents. They were to
analyze the facts discover how their experiences empower them to achieve
success.
