Should children under 16 have free access to TV programmes, videos and

unsuitable internet material showing  violence,  or should their viewing be restricted?


Whose responsibility should it be for any restrictions, parents, companies and
websites, or law makers, and how should this be done?

Give reasons for your views and examples where possible.

Nowadays, an increasing number of children use technological devices for their


entertainment and studying. Parents and teachers are allowing them to use tablets and
smartphones to enhance learning also. Although there are many advantages of these, some
people are concerned about the violent and noneducational contents can affect younger
children negatively. 

There are undoubtedly several drawbacks of indulging these instructed contents. First and
more most is too much violent games and scenes can cause physical problems such as
dropping eye vision or mental illness. According to current research, Children in UK ,
children aged between 12 and 15 spent playing games peaked in 2018, at nearly 14 hours and
in 2019 at 11.6 hours per week. Especially, playing game with violent actions and blood tend
to be addictive. If they can keep playing and focusing on the games, it is likely that reality
and imagination can be mixed and confused. For example, in Korea, young children often
cannot control their feeling and emotion consequently this situation react to their peer group
violently and impatiently. Another disadvantage is that these devices and contents can be a
destruction. When children us the internet to study, their concentration is often interrupted by
other applications such as prone movie and games. They are tones of advertisement of game
and unsuitable images release automatically when they turn on the online platforms. A
technical solution should be to prevent this problem.

Parent and school have to observe and monitor their children’s usages of devices.
Governments are meant to impose the strict law to avoid exposing these unhealthy media
contents and violent advertisements. Companies’ role is one of the most important. They
should run their companies with morality and a sense of ethics. They have to concern about
the bad impacts to younger children.

There are clearly significant advantages and disadvantages related to many internet
materials. However, it is unlikely to let children do not access all technological devices. With
proper measures such as parent’s monitoring and governments and companies' progressive
involvement have to be companied with.
