Tae Bo is a fitness and workout program that has swept the country.

Created in 1976 by tae kwon do

and karate expert Billy Blanks, Tae Bo is a multi-disciplinary study that combines elements of tae kwon
do, boxing and other fitness routines set to high-energy music. Blanks began teaching classes in this new
workout style in Boston in 1982. In 1989, Blanks moved his training center to California, where the Tae
Bo movement began to take off. Since that time, Blanks has released a long series of Tae Bo workout
videos and has gained fame through his Tae Bo program. Blanks now tours the country, teaching the
workouts to both military and civilian groups. Blanks is also a motivational speaker and author.

Tae Bo was named for the two major fitness styles from which it was created – tae kwon do and boxing.
Billy Blanks also considers Tae Bo an acronym for the phrase “Total Awareness Excellence Body
Obedience.”

In the 1990s, many celebrities such as Paula Abdul began to incorporate Tae Bo into their regular
workout routines. This led to a wave of popularity and interest in similar routines such as kickboxing. A
series of Tae Bo videos were released during that time and even today, Tae Bo videos and DVDs
represent a significant portion of workout videos.

Tae Bo draws some of its signature moves from karate. However, Tae Bo is in no way a combat
discipline. The moves are used only for fitness and toning. No throws or ground moves are utilized in Tae
Bo routines.

Tae Bo retains an almost cult following, with a strong online fan club.

Proponents cite the cardiovascular, strength and endurance benefits that come with a Tae Bo routine.
Tae Bo combines not only sports movements, but also hip-hop dance, ballet and weight training. Fans
claim that the all-around training provided by Tae Bo allows it to be used on its own as a complete and
independent workout, without the need to incorporate other types of workouts. Nonetheless, cross
training is always encouraged.

As with any new exercise program, it is recommended that you begin Tae Bo slowly. According to
[Link], it is ideal to begin with a 30-minute routine three times per week. As you become
accustomed to the workout, you may add more workouts during the week. The site recommends that
you always take at least one day off for rest, however.

According to the Tae Bo Fans website, there are at least 153 Tae Bo videos and DVDs currently on the
market. The videos are divided into Instructional, Basic and Advanced categories. When beginning a new
Tae Bo program, you should begin with instructional videos. Spend as much time as necessary using
instructional videos, making sure that you are able to perform each move safely. Move on to basic and
then to the advanced videos whenever you are ready, taking as much time as you need at each level.
Basic and Advanced Tae Bo classes are offered in cities across the U.S., with instructors who have been
certified by Blanks himself.

the USA military troops who move to Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sarajevo, Greece, Africa, Germany and Italy.

The first Tae Bo workouts appeared in 1989 in order to provide boxing fighters with new methods of
muscle strengthening. In the 1990s, the Tae Bo workout was defined and promoted by the selling of

also gained popularity among celebrities, with Paula Abdul the first star to hire Blanks in order to show
her the hidden secrets of the famous Tae Bo fitness workout.

Currently, numerous fitness centers propose exercises similar to the famous Tae Bo workout, but there
