Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
My feedback about "Individuality"
I asked people of various ages and gender what they thought of our idea for our film "Individuality".
I figured out the main target audience would be for teenagers within the age range of about "13 - 19
years old".
They thought it was a good idea because there said "there are many inciting incidents that occur, and
it seems an easy and basic plot to follow."
Although the older generation (20+) thought the idea was good they said that they thought it was
perhaps more of a youthful film, as it is quite easy to understand and they would prefer a more
complicated story line where they had to think into the plot to make them understand it.
For the teenagers there was no specific gender that occurred, so from this I would say it could be
targeted at both boys and girls.
I also got all the followers of our blog to follow us so they can continue viewing our ideas.

The target audience for our media product would be 16-24 year olds; as the British Board of Film
Classification (BBFC) includes that there may be frequent use of strong language, but extreme strong
terms will be accepted within context but continued aggressive use of this language would not be
acceptable.
From research I have previously done it would suggest that mainly girls would be attractive to our
film “Individuality” as it is more of a teen drama, which follows the stereotypical themes a teenage
girl would watch stereotypically. Girls like to gossip and watch the outrageous behavious of what can
occur at a high school, as in “Mean Girls” and also a boarding school such as “St. Trinians” which is a
similar setting to our film.
Some boys may still however enjoy the film because of the more “supernatural” occurances that
unfold later on within the film. The social class of our film is targeted at the middle/upper class as
they would identify with the film more and also pay to see it in the cinema when it was released.
Different social groups would have different opinions of out film “Individuality” such as working
class, middle aged men may not agree with how pupils respect each other and teachers, they may
view it as rude rather than interesting and enjoyable to watch.
When planning, researching and filming our product we knew it was important to achieve the best
possible outcome and create the best opening sequence possible. Also to attract a wide range of
audience in particular our target audience through everything from the mise-en-scene, the actors
and the storyline; these were vital to create an interesting narrative.
If we wanted to attract a wider audience we could have added older characters, different ethnic
minorities and the disabled. This may have fascinated more people because they may feel that it
involves a wider range of people.
