Module Title: The Characteristics of Quantitative Research
1. What have you learned today?
I learned that the quantitative research has 7 characteristics, these are;
1. Objective - Quantitative is reality is objective and singular, this means that it is NOT biased.
2. Clearly defined Research Questions - the questions aren’t usually open ended. A well defined
research question allows investigators to concentrate their research and practice on accepting or
denying a specific hypothesis.
3. Structured Research Instruments - The instrument is designed to gather valid and reliable data.
4. Numerical Data - Quantitative use the statistics to form the final result. Numerical data is
material that can be measured. It is often collected in numerical form.
5. Large Sample sizes - Like what Ma’am Palma said at the messenger discussion that the more
respondents there are, the more reliable the results.
6. Replication - Replication is a term that refers to the repetition of a research study, usually with
new contexts and topics, in order to decide if the specific conclusions of the initial study can be
generalized to other studies or respondents.
7. Future Outcomes - In quantitative research, we can predict the future by using our technology or
probability and statistics in hypothesis testing.
2. Do you find the lesson easy or difficult? Why?
I find the lesson a piece of cake because it is very easy to remember since I already experienced quantitative
research paper when I was grade 10.
3. What are your questions about the lesson?
Who formed this 7 characteristics of quantitative research?
