Introduction

As a teen, you would experience peer pressure once in your life like your taste in

music or the way you dress. Teenagers’ ages 14 and above can easily be influenced by

their friends and people around them in order to be accepted. Peer pressure has its

disadvantages if the people around you make you do things that are against your will or

you may adopt habits, attitudes, interests, and many more from the people around that

could lead to effects.

Peer pressure doesn’t necessarily mean that it could cause bad effects. The

connotation of people to peer pressure was stigmatized as being negative but we are all

influenced by someone in our life positively and negatively. School, as one of the agents

of socialization, plays an important role in our lives because we spend more time with

peers than family and as we grow more independent, we rely on the people around us

to give more influence in our life.
