SARS-CoV-2 PCR Test Report for Mr. Salman

1) The patient, 36-year-old male Salman Ali, was tested for SARS-CoV-2 via nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal swabs. 2) The real-time PCR test results were negative, with no detection of the ORF1ab, N, or S genes of SARS-CoV-2. 3) A negative result does not rule out infection and should be considered along with clinical observations, history, and epidemiological factors.

Inconclusive
testing with a new specimen, if clinically indicated.
Comments:-
Note:
1. Clinical correlation with patient history and other diagnostic information is necessary to determine patient infection
status.
2. Negative results do not preclude SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the sole basis for patient
management decisions. Negative results must be combined with clinical observations, patient history, and
epidemiological information.
3. Although rare, mutations within the highly conserved regions of the viral genome covered by the primers and /or
probe may result in under quantification or failure to direct the presence of the virus.
4. Test performed by TaqPath COVID-19 Combo kit approved by ICMR targeting ORF1ab gene, N gene and S gene.
Pathogen information: SARS-CoV-2 is the causative agent of the Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Main symptoms
of the disease are fever, cough and shortness of breath. The virus spreads from person-to-person through respiratory droplets.
Uses: This test is used for the identification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in upper respiratory tract samples.
