JONATHAN S. DELA PEÑA, Ph.D., CESO V

Schools Division Superintendent
Department of Education
Division of Misamis Oriental
Region 10

Sir:

A pleasant day to you.

We, Ernest Gerard B. Durano, Teacher I of Don Gregorio Pelaez National High School,
Medina District, and Ma. Bernadette B. Eballe, Teacher I of Esperanza National High
School, Kinoguitan District, are humbly writing this letter to request you that we may be
swapped from our work stations due to the following reasons:

1. I, Ernest Gerard B. Durano, am requesting to be transferred to Esperanza

National High School which is closer to Poblacion, Kinoguitan, Misamis Oriental,
my home address.
2. I, Ma. Bernadette Eballe, am only deployed to Esperanza National High School
for 2 and a half years now, and would like to be transferred to Don Gregorio
Pelaez National High School which is closer to Mahayahay, Medina, Misamis
Oriental, my home address. Moreover, since my plantilla item is from Medina
National Comprehensive High School, it will be easier for me to transact my
monthly salary and other benefits.
3. Both of us are Teacher I and BSEd-English graduates.
4. If our request will be granted, we will be able to save generous amount of money
from transportation since we travel daily from our home address to our
workplace, and vice versa.
5. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, it will be a lot safer for us and for our
family if we will be swapped and assigned to the school that is closer to our home
address.
6. Lastly, we will be able to spend more quality time with my family and friends.

We are hoping for a favorable response regarding this matter.

Thank you so much and God bless you and your family.

Respectfully yours,

Ernest Gerard B. Durano Ma. Bernadette B. Eballe

The letter emphasizes the advantages of reducing travel during global conditions such as the COVID-19 pandemic by highlighting health and financial benefits. Localizing employment decreases potential exposure to the virus, enabling adherences to public health guidelines, and can significantly diminish stress and increase safety for the employees and their families. This strategic localization reflects an adaptive response to unpredictable challenges, showing a pragmatic approach to maintaining work-life balance in difficult times .

During the COVID-19 pandemic, minimizing travel and exposure to public transportation is crucial for personal and public health. By working closer to home, the teachers reduce the frequency of their commutes and interactions with others, lowering their risk of contracting or spreading the virus. This proximity becomes especially significant as it touches on both health concerns and a sense of security for themselves and their families .

Ma. Bernadette Eballe notes that her employment item is originally from Medina National Comprehensive High School, implying that being closer would ease transactional processes such as receiving her salary and benefits. Administrative alignment could streamline her work-related administrative tasks, potentially increasing her job satisfaction and efficiency by reducing bureaucratic friction and delays .

Durano's reference to financial savings from reduced transportation costs highlights a common concern for workers living far from their workplaces. Such savings can significantly impact disposable income, especially for teachers whose salaries may be relatively fixed. This financial aspect is compounded by the broader economic impacts of COVID-19, where financial security is of increased importance .

The notation from the principals of both schools implies their acknowledgment and support of the request, which enhances the credibility of the teachers' petition. This support is critical as it suggests alignment with administrative leadership, potentially influencing the superintendent's decision by demonstrating that the swap is agreeable to the local school authorities, thereby increasing the likelihood of approval .

Swapping positions allows them to work closer to their home addresses, saving money on transportation costs, and minimizing the risks related to long commutes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Professionally, Eballe's return to a school closer to her original employment item would streamline the administrative process for her salary and benefits. Both would have more time for personal activities, increasing personal satisfaction and potentially reducing stress related to long-distance travel .

Ernest Gerard B. Durano and Ma. Bernadette B. Eballe request the swap to be closer to their home addresses, which would provide financial savings on transportation and increase safety amid COVID-19 by reducing travel. Additionally, Ma. Bernadette Eballe mentions that the transfer aligns with her employment item at Medina National Comprehensive High School, facilitating easier transactions for her salary and benefits. Both teachers also express a desire to spend more quality time with family and friends .

The request highlights a desire for personal agency over work conditions, reflecting broader themes of employee autonomy and flexibility. It underscores the importance of allowing workers to influence their workplace arrangements to better align with their personal lives, especially during periods of heightened concern such as pandemics. This adaptability can lead to improved job satisfaction and overall productivity, suggesting a shift towards more employee-centered policies within organizations .

Both teachers are identified as Teacher I and graduates with a BSEd-English degree, suggesting that their professional qualifications are similar and interchangeable within the schools they wish to swap. This similarity implies that the transfer would not disrupt the educational standards or expectations at either school, potentially making the swap more feasible for their respective administrative divisions .

The request letter reflects a strong emphasis on work-life balance, showing that the teachers prioritize their health, safety, and family time along with their professional responsibilities. Their desire to align their professional locations with their personal lives underlines the impact of workplace arrangements on overall quality of life and highlights the teachers' proactive approach to managing their professional duties while ensuring personal well-being .
