API 570 Responsibilities (2018)
1. Scope

other than hydrocarbon and chemical.

5. Inspection, Examination and pressure testing practices

21. Develop inspection plan for piping systems

mechanisms and locations, especially for
localised corrosion or cracking.
23. Consult when developing inspection plans
for piping operating above 700F (400C) or
below ductile to transition temperature.
24. Choose to conduct RBI assessment.
25. Familiarise themselves with the prior
history of piping system before inspections.
26. Shall provide specific attention to specific
areas and types of deterioration eg CUI.

and low-pressure pressure tests for
checking tightness of piping systems.
37. Consult when pressure test of piping
components or sections (instead of whole
circuit) are to be performed.
38. Evaluate potential for brittle failure prior to
hydro or pneumatic testing.
39. Approving substituting NDE procedures for
pressure tests after alteration. and
40. Assess the need and extent of PMI
program.
41. Shall verify new materials are consistent
with specified construction materials.

6 . Interval/Frequency and extent of inspection
47. Establish inspection intervals for thickness
measurements and external visual

48. Determine maximum thickness and visual
inspection for class 4 piping.
49. Maintain record of process piping fluids
handled and classifications.
50. Confirm CUI inspection targets with
operational history or documentation.
51. Number and specific CMLs at each location + Consult + Consult
where non-uniform corrosion or other
damage is expected.
52. To assess areas of accelerated corrosion
