1.1. PROJECT BACKGROUND
Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) facility is located on Bonny Island, Nigeria. The facility
includes installed condensate handling and storage facilities that can process up to 33,000
bbl./day. Following incessant external excursions into the coproduced condensate evacuation
pipelines of the NLNG gas suppliers which intermittently impact the ability to supply gas
continuously, NLNG and Gas suppliers (with support of their partners) have developed an
emergency scheme that safely allows the co-produced condensate to be spiked into the feed gas
line and transported to Bonny for redelivery to SPDC-BOGT (after stabilization in NLNG
condensate stabilization unit) for export along with their crude in line with their JV operating
license. This scheme allows for continuous operation of the affected gas supply node and the
continuous supply of feed gas to NLNG.
Consequently, condensate spiked into gas supply lines is recovered, processed and temporarily
stored in NLNG condensate tanks (there are three (3) condensate Tanks: T3301A/B/C existing at
the plant) before onward delivery (via a dedicated 6" pipeline) to SPDC BOGT.

1.6. WORK PROCEDURE
Soil grading work / Sample taking.
1. Take a representative sample of soil (excluding particles >75 mm) and classify the soil as
coarse- grained or fine-grained by estimating whether 50% by weight, of the particles can be
seen individually by the naked eye. Soils containing >50% of particles that can be seen are
coarse-grained soils; soils containing <50% of particles smaller than the eye can see are fine-
grained soils.

2. If the soil is a gravel, identify as being "clean" (containing little or no fines, <5%) or "dirty"
(containing an appreciable number of fines, >12%). For clean gravels final classification is
made by estimating the gradation.
1.7. SURVEYING, WORK SEQUENCE FOR EXCAVATION.
• As per site condition the entire earthwork activities shall be limited to the area inside the
plot boundary.
• The entire area required for construction shall be will be identified and marked, and will
be barricaded with suitable hard barricading materials with access.
• Underground utilities shall be identified prior to start of work.
• Excavation where depth is expected to exceed four feet or where unstable soil is likely to
be encountered, shoring or shielding equipment shall be precent on site.
• Depth of excavation shall be done according to the approved drawings.
• Daily inspection of excavation, the adjacent areas, and protective systems shall be made
daily.
1.8. SETTING OUT.
The surveyor shall establish all control points (through primary datum levels) in respect to the
center lines/grid lines/cutting lines, install and maintain the reference marks, benchmarks etc.
and maintain them as long as required for setting out, establishing Bench Marks and other
reference marks. The bar dimensions and specifications schedule should be prepared as per
contract drawings, the reinforcement bars will be cut and bended as per the specification.
Appropriate machinery and tools to carry out the cutting and bending process shall be made
available by (CAKASA). The bars will be aligned horizontally and vertically from the bottom
and the top as per the foundation structural details. The position, quantity and aligned starter bars
of columns shall be done as per the approved drawings. The top reinforcement will be supported
on bottom steel by a means of preventing the bar from sagging if required. Intermediate bars all
around the side of the foundation have to be provided. Fasten embedded items securely in proper
position before placing concrete.
1.9. FORM WORKS
CAKASA Team shall ensure that all materials forming the temporary formwork are clean, strong
and clear of any deflection. shutter will be installed and fixed on the blinding as per the
foundation layout. If applicable, chamfer will be applied to the edge of the foundation. The site
engineer shall ensure that the form work is erected according to the dimensions and that the lines

CAKASA surveyor will conduct site survey to take-out the lines and levels of the areas of the blinding to
be casted. The mark shall be as per the approved drawing.
• After getting compaction test results which shall be equal or above the 95 percent of the Maximum
Dry Density.
• The shuttering form on the blinding must be fixed, aligned and leveled properly before start pouring
concrete.
• Cakasa Engineer shall check the setting out, dimensions, alignment, thickness and the level for the
shutter of the blinding through inspection request.
• The Anti-termite shall be sprayed on the compacted blinding area by using the approved materials.
• The newly placed Anti-termite shall be properly covered by using approved polythene sheet with a
1000-gauge thickness.
• The concrete must cast within 24 hours after the Anti-termite has been placed.
• The right PPEs shall be used, such as safety helmet, overalls, safety shoes, goggles. gloves, vest etc.
• Safety precautions shall be taken in to considerations starting from the site entrance gate including
the pump and trucks access till the surrounding of the casting area.
• The blinding thickness shall be achieved as per drawing or specification.
• Concrete must be cured from two to three times daily for a period agreed upon by the client
(NLNG).
• The blinding shall then be protected with safety warning device to prevent the casted blinding from
damages as a result of the working machineries.
• The surface of the blinding shall be made smooth.
1.6 CONCRETE PROCESS
Pre-checks before concreting
• Ensure that the position and the dimensions of the formwork are in accordance with the drawings.
• Check to ensure correct spacing for slab formwork.
• Check the verticality and horizontality level of the wall and slab panels respectively.
• Ensure that all pins, wedges and ties are properly secured and tightened.
• Re-check all propping stands to ensure its height are in accordance to drawings.
• Adequate bracing shall be checked (if necessary) to ensure stability.
• Ensure cover blocks are placed correctly.
Monitoring during concreting process
• Ensure client (NLNG) coordinators are available and on stand-by during the concreting process.
• CAKASA Team shall ensure that concrete pouring is distributed evenly throughout the wall sections
before commencing to cast the slab level areas. This is to prevent loading pressure on the formwork
panels due to uneven casting.
• Recheck the areas whenever cement slurry leakage is noted to determine the cause of it.
• Remedy work should be done immediately to ensure the concreting process is not affected.
• During concreting, always ensure that immediate step is taken to remove / clean all the excess
concrete that is stuck on the back of the formwork panels. Non removal will result in the formwork
panels getting too heavy and also the scrapping task after the concrete has dried up becomes more
tedious.
• Site lab with cube molds, Thermometer, Slump cone. etc shall be arranged prior to concrete casting.
• The concrete testing area shall be arranged with proper shading and lighting.
• Curing activities shall commence.
1.6 CURING CONCRETE.
Curing is the maintenance of a satisfactory moisture content and temperature in concrete for a period of
time immediately following placing and finishing so that the desired properties may develop. With proper

curing, concrete becomes stronger, more impermeable, and more resistant to stress, abrasion. The
improvement is rapid at early stages but continues more slowly thereafter for an indefinite period.
1.11. SITE CLEARANCE
Rock projection boulders or other hard spots, if any, in excavation shall be Removed to a depth not less
than 100mm below the formation level
1.7 SEQUENCE OF WORKS

client (NLNG) for the foundations. The exact depth of excavation shall be determined by a
drawing that has been approved for construction. Excavation shall be done using a
combination of mechanical and manual method.
• Excavated soil shall be transported or moved to a designated laydown area.
• The excavated area shall be fine leveled manually steer skid loader. Compaction will be
done after watering. Plate compactor or a mini roller will be used for compaction. 95% field
density shall be ensured. Care shall be taken against damage.
• Required formation level and compaction test will be subject to client (NLNG) inspection
and upon approval will proceed to subsequent activity.
• As per approved drawings and specification, Road based will be laid. It shall be
compacted to a degree of compaction 95% using mini roller.
• Required levels and compaction test will be subject to client (NLNG) inspection and upon
approval will proceed to the subsequent activity.
