Our mental health is an import factor that helps us attain peace and happiness. It’s as
important as our physical and emotional health. It contributes a lot to the well being of
an individual. In the past few months, life has been very hard for everyone because of
the pandemic. Education has been altered from what we got used to. Our freedom has
been limited. Basically everything has changed. These happenings has caused people to
become mentally unstable and stressed.
The current situation has forced everyone, students and employees, to adjust to the
new normal, continue living life and doing their responsibilities amidst the pandemic. As
a student, and a freshman in college, the new normal is very challenging for us. We were
forced to adjust quickly to the new school setting and system. We had to learn things we
had no idea of on our own. It was very overwhelming to the point that we don’t know
what to do and where to start, which led us to become stressed.
Luckily for us, we knew how to take a break to restart and refresh our minds. It is
important to take breaks every now and then. Our responsibilities as students are
important, but our mental health is also important. We have to be aware of our
limitations and be careful not to strain our minds. We need to take breaks and let our
minds take a rest. We should not be guilty if we choose our mental health first.
Remember that when we rest, our energy is restored. With that we can continue doing
our tasks more efficiently.
Reading has always been my comfort. It’s my go to hobby whenever things gets
overwhelming. Ever since early junior high school years, I have been reading a lot and I
can say it helped me get through tough times. It’s my safe haven and my escape from
this cruel reality.
It is important that we stay strong amidst the pandemic. We should be each other’s
support system. We don’t know who’s suffering from what, so the best thing we can do
is to be sensitive of other people’s feelings and always be ready to listen. People doesn’t
always need advice, sometimes they just need to be heard.
