Interviewee: Noelito Garcia
- Barangay Councilor (2018-Present)
- Former Staff Sergeant in PAF (1981-2006)
Age: 63 years old
Location: Bagongpook, Lipa City, Batangas
(The setup is a face-to-face interview. Mr. Vicente is just my neighbor that is why an
interview in person is much appropriate.)
Observation:
I asked Mr. Noelito to tell me about his experiences for the past two years of
being a barangay councilor. I want him to be comfortable enough that is why I told him
to share with me everything he wanted to say. He said a lot about his unforgettable
experiences, the improvements in our barangay, and how hardworking is our barangay
captain and his co-barangay councilors, etc. Upon listening, I noticed that he is very
calm while speaking. He is very articulate. He also give emphasis and credits to all of
the barangay officials. He is a kind of leader where in he can easily get along with the
people. He does not use his authoritative power to lead people but rather building a
good connection and relationship with them. He told me that having a good relationship
with the people is a good foundation of an effective leadership.
“If I am not trustworthy enough, people would not vote for me as their barangay
councilor. Once you gain the trust of your people, everything will follow.” – Noelito
