What jobs will disappear?
Technology has become a common part of our lives, especially in the workplace. New technologies have
many positive effects, but they also may have negative impacts on other jobs.
Travel Agent
In the past, it was necessary to use a travel agent to book your trip, including hotels, flights, and tours. This
usually meant you had to look at brochures and speak with a travel agent on the phone. In today’s world, you can
compare thousands of flights, hotels, and travel attractions all from your computer or smartphone. You can plan
your entire vacation yourself, and if you know where to look, you can find great deals. Today, if you’re looking for
more personalized travel recommendations, you can use social media and blogs to learn more about your
travel destination.

Cashier
Many businesses in large U.S. cities have stopped accepting cash. They only accept credit cards or electronic
payments. There is a big debate about these policies, but one thing is clear: a human isn’t required to handle
payments. There are many self-service checkouts used in supermarkets and fast food restaurants that signal
the end of human cashiers.

The Print Industry

The print industry includes many jobs like newspaper and magazine publishers, the factories that print
newspapers and magazines, and the companies that distribute them. The print media is less popular every day
because more and more people prefer to get their news on the internet. The print industry must adapt, or it will
not exist in the future. Why wait to read the news in the newspaper when you can have immediate access to news
on your smartphone?

What jobs are safe?

Some jobs are safe and won’t be replaced by automated technology. Jobs that require creativity can never be
replaced by a computer. This includes artists, scientists, and business strategists. Also, jobs based on
relationships are naturally human jobs, like medical professionals and teachers. Lastly, market studies
suggest that over the next 20 years, 50% of jobs will be new jobs.

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon. We’re interested in booking a tour around
South America, and we want a tour company that can offer all-inclusive vacation packages
that are fun and affordable. Do you recommend Equator Travel?

JOSH ANDERSON, TEXAS, USA

After graduation, I wanted to travel to South America, but I didn’t really know where to go. Also, I don’t
really speak Spanish, and I don’t have much experience traveling abroad. That’s why I decided to plan
a trip with Equator Travel. They were really helpful, and everything was very organized. They offered me
several different packages. I decided to get the Machu Picchu package. This five-day trip included all
excursions, hotels, and transportation, even airfare! They picked me up at the airport in Cusco, Peru
and brought me to my hotel. I toured the city center, museums, and Inca ruins. Then, I did a trek for
two days and walked all the way to Machu Picchu! It was stunning! Everything was great, but the hotel
didn’t include breakfast, and the tour guides only spoke Spanish.
AMAHLE BOTHA, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
I paid a lot of money for my trip to Colombia, but I did not get my money’s worth with Equator Travel.
They offered an “all-inclusive” travel package, but on every part of my trip I had to pay more money!
The vacation package I purchased included airfare, but only from Miami. So, I had to buy airfare from
South Africa to Miami. Then, I had to pay hotel tax at every hotel where I stayed. The vacation package
said that breakfast was included at all hotels, but this wasn’t true. Only one hotel offered coffee and
cookies in the morning. The worst part is that the group had scheduled museum tours and other
excursions, but after paying for everything else, I didn’t have enough money to participate.
LUISA SAIPOS, ONTARIO, CANADA
Equator Travel is the best tour company in South America. My husband and I traveled to Argentina
last year to celebrate our 20-year anniversary, and they made our trip specialized and very affordable.
They included airfare, all hotels, all transportation, and got us some great deals on activities. They
picked us up from the airport, and gave us a great tour of Buenos Aires. Then we had a first-class
flight to Iguazu falls. Then, we went to Mendoza and had a wine tour. It was really romantic and we felt
everything was perfect. Thank you Equator Travel!
