III. CONCLUSION
- E-learning has become the immediate result to cope with the disruption of
education.
In 2020, the entire world locked down as a responsive reaction to flatten the curve
and limit the transmission of COVID-19. This led to an unexpected disruption of
traditional education (United Nations. August 2020) since teachers stopped face-to-
face teaching and moved to distance learning in less than two weeks. The abrupt
and required transition has brought several challenges and obstacles to teachers’
training and students’ learning journey.
Transitioning from face-to-face learning to remote learning can be a unique
experience for the students and the teachers since it urges them to follow a system
that they might not be prepared for. However, E-learning tools have played a vital
part during this pandemic to facilitate students’ learning during the closure of places
of education (Subedi, S., Nayaju, S., Subedi, S., Shah, S. K., & Shah, J. M. 2020)
Some challenges may interfere with and impede the teaching-learning process. For
instance, some researchers claim that learners with poor self-regulation skills would
be less prone to reach success in the e-learning field (Kizilcec, R. F., Sherif, H.
2015).). Furthermore, there is a lack of requirements for quality, development of
online resources, and content delivery. This dilemma needs to be worked on urgently
so that anybody can experience the benefits of quality education via online learning
(Cojocariu, V.-M. 2014) Thus, a competent educational system needs to be
cultivated to impart education via online form.
As it is acknowledged, online learning depends solely on internet connectivity and
appropriate technological devices. An investigation concentrating on students’
perspectives on E-learning found that among the principal challenges that students
faced were accessibility, connectivity, lack of proper devices, etc (Aboagye, E.
2020). Furthermore, there is a research breakthrough that shows that students from
poor socio-economic privilege, with no internet connection, are the most exposed to
fall behind or face other challenges to meet up with others in online learning (Tomer,
L. F. A. A. 2020)
In conclusion, the ongoing situation of the pandemic has interrupted the traditional
education of students and imposed distinct challenges and obstacles that made it
harder to continue the teaching and learning journey. However, e-learning has
become the immediate result to cope with the disruption of education.
