Abstract
The rapid growth of urbanization has created greater demand for
vehicles, which results in more fuel consumption and has given rise to
the establishment of filling stations in other to satisfy those needs. A
petrol filling station is important but meanwhile it is a hazardous
facility, so special attention is paid on its location.
Studying the spatially distribution pattern of fuel station in province
of Baghdad was done by utilizing GIS techniques which they are the
most powerful tools for design, display and analysis for the spatial
data. Nearest Neighbour Analysis method was applied for analyzing
the spatial distributions of the fuel stations.
This study came with a set of facts that clarified the spatial
distribution of stations fuel in Baghdad, and highlighting the most
important spatial differences and differences in the locations of those
stations In the city,
detecting the pattern Distributive and distributive characteristics using
geographic information systems, in order to highlight The on-site
analysis of these stations, and in this context, we can summarize the
most important of these features in the following main results:
1- the variation in fuel stations distribution between the areas of
Baghdad where noted in some areas that in spite of being the
densest population but they less than the number of stations
compared with other regions which have less intensity.
2- Most of the Fuel stations are located along the city's main roads
and streets, which Easily accessible, which collects traffic from
the residential and commercial areas of the city and
connects them to the main streets.
