1. MEASURING TOOLS
Carpenters commonly use measuring tools to complete the
work clean and accurate. Carefully measure woods by using
various measuring tools. Always choose the right tools for
measuring designs. Measuring tools are used to measure
various parameters such as clearance, diameter, depth,
ovality, and trueness.
Push-Pull rule
is a measuring tape that coils into a compact case. It is
used for measuring long, short, straight lengths.
Caliper
A caliper (British spelling also calliper, or in plurale tantum
sense a pair of calipers). Some calipers can be as simple as a
compass with inward or outward-facing points, but no scale.
Caliper is use to measure dimensions of an object.

2. MARKING TOOLS
Marking is a vital point in a woodworking project. They are
partners with cutting tools, and they are the guide for cutting,
shaping, and drilling wood or metals.
Chalk or Chalk line
The chalk line is an instrument for marking long-distance
and straight lines on a flat surface. Chalk Line uses lines
between two points and vertical lines for measuring.
Scratch Awl
A Scratch awl is used for layout and point- marking tools. It
is use to scribe a line to be followed by chisel and handsaw
when making woodworking joints.
Pencil Lead
A carpentry pencil is rectangular and an elliptical cross to
prevent it from rolling away. Carpentry pencils are use to
guide and marking surfaces like concrete and stones. The Flat
pencil is one of the oldest pencil.

Divider
A Divider instrument is used for measuring, transferring, or
marking off distances. The divider consists of two legs and has
ending sharp points.
3. GUIDING TOOLS
Guiding tools are used for measurement and guiding for
accuracy. Some tools have their specialty and specific uses.
Level
Level tools are used to determine if it is vertical and
horizontal balance.
Plastic Hose With Water
is the most usefuland accurate tool for guiding the work in
establishing a horizontal level.

Plumb Bob
A Plumb bob is a weight, usually has a pointed tip on the
bottom. Plumb bob use for vertical measurement to provide
lines for the building measurements.
Sliding T- Bevel
A Sliding T-Bevel is also known as a bevel gauge or false
square. Sliding T-Bevel is an adjustable gauge for setting and
transferring angles.
Miter Box
A Miter Box is for guiding hand saw for making precise cuts.

4. FASTENING TOOLS
Fastening tools are used to help you apply fasteners,
applying nails, screws and bolts.

5. ROUGH FACING TOOLS
Rough facing tools are the so-called "Striking Tools" because
they are used through a series of blows. They are also called

6. TOOTHED CUTTING TOOLS
Tooth cutting tools or saws are main tools for a carpenter. the
most commonly used saws by a Carpenter are the Crosscut
saw, the Rip saw, the Back saw and the Hack saw.
Saw
Are used to cut pieces of wood into different shapes.
7. SHARP-EDGED CUTTING TOOLS
Chisel
Is a tool with a characteristically shaped cutting edge (such
that wood chisels have lent part of their name to a particular
grind) of blade on its end.
Draw Knife
Is a traditional woodworking hand tool used to shape wood by
removing shavings.

8. SMOOTH FACING TOOLS
Smooth facing tools called planes, are sharpedgedcutting
tools in which the cutting edge is guided by the body of the
tool instead of by the hands
Spoke Shave
A spokeshave is a hand tool used to shape and smooth woods
in woodworking jobs such as making cart wheel spokes, chair
legs, paddles, bows, and arrows
Plane
Is a tool for shaping wood using muscle power to force the
cutting blade over the wood surface.
9. BORING OR DRILLING TOOLS

splitting.
10. HOLDING TOOLS
Supporting
Carpentry works are needed support to do things efficiently
such as chiseling plaining and cutting.
