GROUND RULES (GROUP 11):
i. COMMUNICATION
a. Listen carefully to what others have to say.
b. Respect other group members’ point of views, even if you disagree.
c. Do not turn down anyone’s ideas; consider every single idea. The more the
merrier.
d. Give everyone an opportunity to express their views and keep in mind that
others may have an idea/point of view that you may have not considered.
e. Express your point of view fully and support your point of view with reasons
f. It is critical that group members keep records of their research, notes and other
related material which can be looked upon later on in the project.
ii. MEETING STRUCTURE AND SCHEDULE
a. Set out an agenda before every meeting showing what is to be achieved by the
end of every group meeting.
b. It is compulsory to attend every meeting.
c. Be prepared for the meetings. Complete any task that you were assigned to do
before the meeting. Have valid reasons if tasks or not completed.
d. Be punctual to meetings
e. Participate actively in the meetings.
f. Have a “wrap-up” session at the end of each meeting to see if the tasks in the
agenda have been met. If not, discuss what can be done to ensure that tasks are
met according to the agenda in the following meetings. Be truthful during
these sessions as they serve to increase efficiency and productivity.
iii. WORKLOAD
a. Know that workload consists of work outside the meetings
b. Workload should be split evenly amongst the members. Team members
should spend at least 2 hours per week working on the Engineering Without
Borders Challenge.
c. Workload should be assigned according to each group member’s strength so
as to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. BUT, work can also be
done in teams so as to assess and improve each member’s weaknesses and
grow as a team.
iv. GOAL-SETTING, PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS AND
PERFORMANCE MONITORING
a. Each team member should set personal goals on the group wiki on MyUni.
This will ensure that every member can keep track of other member’s goals
and can motivate their team mates to achieve their desired goals.
b. Keep and follow deadlines closely.
c. Performance reviews should be conducted by each member on themselves and
their team fortnightly to see if they are meeting the requirements set by the
group and what they can do to improve efficiency and productivity of the
group.
v. CONFLICT RESOLUTION
a. Conflicts shall be resolved as a group. All the members should come up with a
reasonable solution to a conflict and agreement must be reached upon the most
viable solution.
vi. MEMBER ROLES
a. Scribe – role interchanged every meeting
b. Researcher – leads the research part of the challenge
c. Brainstormer – every member contributes to ideas.
vii. OTHERS
a. Work seriously but don’t forget to have FUN along the way.
