Q.1 Explain the exterior structure of an aircraft?
Ans: The main exterior structure of an aircraft consist
of:-
1. Fuselage
2. Wings
3. Jet Engine
4. Vertical stabilizer
5. Horizontal stabilizer
6. Landing gear
Fuselage- fuselage is the main body of an aircraft it
starts from nose portion (cockpit) and ends at tail
portion. Fuselage includes pax cabin, cockpit and
cargo compartment.
Wings – wings are the structure to provide lift for an
aircraft which consist of fuel tank, alerion, slats,
airbrakes, flaps. This are the essential controls for
banking and to provide more lift.
Jet Engine- Jet engine are the main component of an
aircraft which provides thrust by jet propulsion. It
helps to move aircraft forward and to gain lift.
Vertical stabilizer – on aircraft vertical stabilizer
generally point upwards. It consist of Rudder and
allow pilots to control YAW movement.
Horizontal stabilizer- horizontal stabilizer are the
small wings at the tail portion. Which consist of
elevator, it controls the up/down movement of an
aircraft.
Landing gear- the landing gear supports the aircraft
when its not flying, it allows to take off ,land and
taxing of an aircraft. It consist of two main gear the
main landing gear and nose landing gear.
Q2. Explain the interior layout of an aircraft?
Ans. An aircraft has two main cabin –
1. Cockpit
2. Passenger cabin
Cockpit - cockpit is the cabin where pilots control the
aircraft, which is restricted to enter any passenger or
crew without authorisation.
Cabin- in cabin there are three classes , first class ,
business class and economy class depends on different
aircraft model.
Cabin includes galley and lavatory.
