Rigid Body Equilibrium Exercises

The document is a tutorial on the equilibrium of rigid bodies in two and three dimensions. It contains four exercises involving determining reaction forces and components at supports of rigid structures based on free body diagrams. Do Kyun Kim of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS provides the tutorial and answers to the exercises involving jib cranes, actuators, journal bearings, and cables.

Exercise 1
The jib crane is supported by a pin at C and rod AB. If the load has a mass of
2Mg with its center of mass located at G, determine the horizontal and
vertical components of reaction at the pin C and the force developed in rod
AB on the crane when x=5m.
