Accounting Rollup Groups and Structures

Multiple Rollups: You can create rollup groups to summarize accounting information from different perspectives. Ranges: Account ranges can be used to group accounts for reports, security rules, summary accounts, and reporting hierarchies based on a planned account structure. Creating Vertical Structures: Consider summarizing data according to your management structure by creating separate segments for lowest levels and using parent rollups within segments for reporting rather than new segments. For example, report Company to Western Region to European Division where only Company is a posting level account.

hierarchies.

Creating Vertical Structures

Consider summarizing your data according to your management [Link] a separate segment for the
lowest level in
the Accounting [Link] to use parent rollups within a single segment for reporting, rather than
creatingadditional
segments in the Accounting [Link] example, a child value of Company reports to Western Region
which reports to
European Division. Only Company is a posting level account in the Accounting Flexfield. Set up Western
Region as parent
of Company and Western Division as parent of European [Link] your company reorganizes frequently,
use parent/child
relationships for maximum flexibility.A child value can be in multiple parents. It is better to create new
parent structures
than to modify existing structures because changes can effect historical reporting. For example, if the
Western Region
contained five companies, reported year end results, and then had two more companies moved into its child
range, then
historical reports ran after the two additional companies were added would show different results.

Account Hierarchies Use various flexible parent/child account hierarchies to view

your business
according to product lines, geographical regions, organizational lines, or any other
combination of
factors you deem [Link] your hierarchy with as many vertical and horizontal
levels as you
need to effectively analyze your business or business segment. It is better to create new
parent
structures than to modify existing structures because changes can effect historical
reporting.
