Answer the following questions.

(1) What is the relevance of ICT in your chosen course?

ICTs are making dynamic changes in society. They are influencing all aspects of
life. Similarly, there is no doubt that ICT also brings a massive change in the field of
education. It makes the teaching- learning process effective and interesting. Such
technologies; cellular phones, computer, and network hardware and software, satellite
systems and so on, are used for educational purposes, namely to support and improve
the learning of students and develop learning environments. Teacher use ICT for
making teaching learning process easy and interesting. A competent teacher has several
skills and techniques for providing successful teaching. So development and increase of
skills and competencies of teachers required knowledge of ICT and Science &
Technology. The knowledge of ICT is also required for a pre-service teacher-- like me,
during their training programme, because this integrated technological knowledge helps
a prospective teacher to know the world of technology in a better way by which it can be
applied in future for the betterment of the students. Nowadays ICTs are transforming
schools and classrooms into a new look by bringing in new curriculum based on real
world problems, projects, providing tools for enhancing learning, providing teachers
and students more facilities and opportunities for feedback. ICT also helps teachers,
students and parents to come together. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation
(CCE) helps students as well as teachers to use more technology for making teaching
learning more attractive for the betterment of our future generation (Baishakhi
Bhattacharjee, 2016). Teachers must know the use of ICT in their subject areas to help
the learners for learning more effectively. So, the knowledge of ICT is very much
essential for the both prospective teachers as well as in-service teachers also. This will
help teachers to know integrated technology with classroom teaching.

(2) Name at least 4 uses of ICT in our daily lives and explain.

Information and communication technologies have greatly affected and can be

seen in everydays human life.

● Education
- Information and communication technology contributes greatly to
education because it improves the way of education and provides a better
educational environment, through the use of computers, tablets, data
displays, interactive electronic boards, and others in the process of
communicating information to students. The use of ICT in education adds
value to teaching and learning, by enhancing the effectiveness of learning.
● Communication
- ICT takes a major role for us by means of communicating, it helps people
communicate faster and cheaper than ever before. Way back in the past,
they used to make letters and send it via post mail but now, we can use

ICT is revolutionizing communicative practices by providing fast and cost-effective ways to communicate. Unlike past methods that relied on letters sent via postal mail, today's technology leverages cellular phones, internet platforms, and instant messaging for seamless communication even across long distances. This has drastically reduced communication barriers, enabling individuals and communities to maintain connections and collaborations in real-time irrespective of geographical boundaries .

The four major uses of ICT in everyday life are education, communication, business, and entertainment. In education, ICT enhances learning environments and makes education more effective. For communication, ICT enables faster and cheaper interactions than traditional methods. In business, ICT increases efficiency and improves communication. For entertainment, ICT provides easy and quick access to media and interactive content. Each of these uses impacts individuals by improving convenience, accessibility, and effectiveness in various aspects of life .

ICT's expansive reach and rapid information dissemination pathways make it a powerful vector for misinformation, such as fake news. These can lead to misguided public opinion and social discord. To mitigate these dangers, fostering media literacy and critical thinking skills in the population is crucial. Additionally, implementing stringent fact-checking processes and ensuring accountability on digital platforms can help curb misinformation's spread .

ICT negatively impacts personal interaction by encouraging digital communication over face-to-face engagements, which can lead to weakened social bonds and reduced empathy. Additionally, the convenience and engaging nature of ICT means people may engage in more sedentary activities, such as prolonged screen time, instead of physical activities, leading to health risks associated with physical inactivity .

ICT has several positive societal impacts, including easy access to information, improved entertainment options, enhanced security and safety, better communication and socializing opportunities, and improved education quality. However, there are negative impacts as well, such as reduced physical activity, spread of fake news, decreased personal interaction, job loss, and inappropriate access to information. Balancing these impacts requires careful management of ICT tools to maximize positive outcomes and mitigate negative consequences. Society needs to promote digital literacy and critical thinking to navigate information responsibly and leverage ICT for beneficial purposes .

ICT transforms traditional business operations by making them more efficient and effective in responding to customers’ needs. It establishes a hassle-free and secure communication flow, enabling smooth execution of daily operational tasks, including design, manufacturing, research and development, distribution, sales, and feedback collection. Through these improvements, businesses can promptly respond to market demands and enhance overall customer satisfaction .

ICT enhances the teaching and learning process by making it more effective and interesting. Technologies such as computers, tablets, data displays, and interactive electronic boards enhance the effectiveness of learning by supporting and improving the learning environments. ICT allows for the integration of real-world problem-solving into the curriculum and provides essential tools for both teacher and student engagement. Moreover, ICT facilitates methods like Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), enabling more opportunities for feedback and interaction among teachers, students, and parents, which improves the education system as a whole .

ICT facilitates collaborative learning by providing numerous tools that enhance interaction and feedback among teachers, students, and parents. Platforms and software enable real-time communication and resource sharing, fostering an inclusive educational ecosystem where all stakeholders can contribute to and support student learning. Moreover, ICT supports curricular innovations that emphasize problem-solving and real-world applications, promoting collaborative projects and peer engagements .

ICT innovations contribute significantly to the entertainment industry by providing quick access to movies and music over the internet, enhancing TV interactivity, and fostering advancements in computer gaming technologies. These innovations allow for richer, more engaging entertainment experiences and enable more individuals to participate in and produce digital media, such as video and photography using digital cameras and scanners .

ICT tools support Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) by providing platforms that enable ongoing assessment and feedback throughout the learning process. These technological solutions can track and analyze student performance in real-time, offer personalized learning experiences, and identify areas requiring improvement. This approach allows educators to adopt a holistic view of student development, rather than isolated snapshots of academic achievement, ultimately refining both teaching methods and student experiences .
