10 Conference Opponents.
10 Challenges.
22 practice days before first tournament.
40 practice days before first conference games.
2 saves per player. 1 individual save and 1 team save if a player cannot complete the task.
All challenges must be completed before 1st MAAC competition.

1) MONMOUTH: “Bobcat Club” – must become a member by earning 10 points upon return from Christmas
Break.
2) MARIST: “Partner Challenge” – with assigned partner, must learn and present to team the following answers
to these questions:
· Parents' names and siblings' ages and names.
· What she loves about the game.
· Her definition of a champion.
Something that makes her unique.
3) FAIRFIELD: “MAAC Shuttle” – 100 yard sprint and back. 75 yard sprint and back. 50 yard sprint and back. 25
yard sprint back. 2.00 min to complete each. 90 sec. rest in between… times 10.
4) CANISIUS: “Letter of Recommendation to Self.” Must write a letter in the third person as if you were speaking
on your behalf. Must communicate what you intend to do with your athletic opportunity. To help, you can
answer the following questions based on your class:
Freshmen: Why do you deserve to be a member of this program? What do you plan to bring to the table? How will
you improve our program?
Sophomores: Why should you be promoted and brought into a more reliable role? How will your contribution be
different than a year ago?
Juniors: What is required for you to become the face of the program? Why should you be promoted into a leadership
role? How has your experience in this program made you ready for more responsibility?
Seniors: Why should you be moved into ownership? What will you do with your knowledge and experience to own
the 2014 season?
5) MANHATTAN: “Round the Bases” – H to H 13 sec. each x 10. 1 min rest in between.
6) Siena: 10 % increase in all tested weights.
7) Niagara: Pay it Forward. Do a good deed, volunteer, be a positive influence in someone else’s life.
8) IONA: Keep a nutritional journal for 10 days. Account for everything you eat and drink. Include number of
hours you sleep and water intake.
9) ST. PETER’S: Give a 10 minute presentation to the team on “MENTAL TOUGHNESS”. Use a book, article,
movie, etc. as your reference. Present on how the research you did has made an impact on you and how your
teammates can benefit from what you’ve learned.
10) RIDER: “YORK HILL CLIMB TO THE TOP” Sprint to the top in a time TBA.

- 9 Challenges.
-All challenges must be completed before we depart for our first trip to Florida.
-Each player can receive 1 save from a teammate and use it on any challenge that they are unable to
complete. Each player can only perform 1 save and can only perform a save after they have completed all
9 challenges.
-Work together. Compete together. Rise to the challenge - United in Blue.
1) “Talons Club” – must earn the predetermined # of points in the lifting/performance testing upon return from
Christmas Break.
2) “Partner Challenge” – with assigned partner, must learn and present to the team the answers to the following
questions:
· Hometown
· Parents' names and siblings' ages and names.
· What she loves about the game.
· Her definition of a champion.
· Something about her that makes her unique, or a little known factoid.
3) “RiverHawk Shuttle” – Four 200 yard shuttles (down and back 4 times at 25 yards). Must complete each one in 50
seconds or less with a 2 minute break between each one.
4) “My pledge/purpose statement” Must write or type a brief pledge to the RiverHawk softball program and your
purpose statement. What is your role within the program? What do you pledge to your teammates and coaching
staff to ensure the program is successful? To help, you can answer the following questions based on your class:
Freshmen: Why do you deserve to be a member of this program? What do you plan to bring to the table? How will

Sophomores: Why should you be promoted and brought into a more reliable role? How will your contribution be

5) Increase in lifting/performance testing #’s from January 12 to February 4.
