CE-14102: SURVEYING
TUTORIAL - 2
1. Differentiate between
(a) Fore Bearing and Back Bearing
(b) WCB and RB
(c) Declination and Dip
(d) Prismatic and Surveyor’s compass
2. What is meant by temporary adjustments? Explain temporary adjustments for Prismatic
compass.
3. The magnetic bearing of a line was found to be N47º40' E in 1890 when declination was
1º20' W. Find its present magnetic bearing if declination is 1º10' E.
4. The bearings of the lines of a closed traverse are 290º30', 250º30', 196º00', 175º30',
112º00' and 30º30'. Determine the included angles and correct them for observational
errors, if any.
5. Following angles were observed [in clockwise direction] in an open traverse. The
magnetic bearing of line AB is 210º 00':
ABC = 125º 30' BCD = 156º 30' CDE = 102º 00'
DEF = 95º 15' EFG = 214º 15'
Find the bearings of other lines.
6. Correct the following bearings for local attraction observed in a compass traverse:
Line AB FB = 45º 35' BB = 226º 10'
Line BC FB = 96º 50' BB = 277º 15'
Line CD FB = 29º 45' BB = 209º 20'
Line DE FB = 324º 48' BB = 144º 48'
