Lesson Title: Ordering, Adding and Subtracting Intergers
Grade Level: 7th Grade Pre-Algebra
TEK(S): 7(2)(A) Number, operation, and quantitive reasoning.
Content Objective: The student represents and uses numbers in a variety of equivalent forms.
Target: The student is expected to compare and order integers and positive rational numbers
Materials: 2 color counters (red and yellow integer ‘bingo chips’
Red and yellow dot stickers
Time period: Three period long lessons
Introduction/Anticipatory: Introduce students to integers, ask students if they know what a integer
is.
“Today we will be taught what an integer is, how to order, add, and subtract them.”
Instructional Input/ Modeling: Provide students in the front of the class on a white board different
integer equations. Provide multiple examples.
Guided Practice: Students will be put into groups, and do a Scavenger hunt. They will read a card,
do the equation, and walk around the classroom to find the correct answer to their problem. Within
the scavenger hunt should be a message. If students complete task correct, they will receive a
passing grade, if not correct, they will be able to make up the assignment with an alternate.
Checking for Understanding: Students will do a integer quiz on “Kahoot” as a class.
Closure: Have a day for a study guide, do practice problems, maybe another Kahoot as a class if
they liked the first Kahoot
Assessment: A summative test
