Truly, we live in a world where everything changes in a faster phase.

Indeed, if
economic globalization is possible to happen, cultural imperialism is also highly
probable to occur. Especially, when technology dominated taking control of huge part
of our lives and when media become accessible to everyone that it provided a link to
engage into global integration that resulted into shaping one’s beliefs and norms
affecting political and economical stand.

Today, media is considered as the most efficient and powerful tool in sharing
points and ideas between individuals, groups of people, and of nations as seen in
different social media platforms. Truly, Media’s impact in our lives is astonishing.
The more a person involves himself into social media, the more he becomes
knowledgeable, educated, and could easily adapt to changes around.

Moreover, a person’s unstable cultural identity also adds up to reasons of cultural


imperialism. This ground makes people vulnerable in adapting what they see around,
following trends of Western and Asian influences, and subscribing to global shifts
forming social belongingness and potential cultural identity.

With these, we can confirm that Philippines is one of the countries whose culture
has been dominantly shaped with other nations’ influences and impacts. We don’t
need to question as to why Filipinos continue to patronize and support other cultural
influences because our perception on the sense of inclusion is attached to other
countries’ development and trend. However, despite the impacts of globalization in
our lives, as Filipino citizens, it is our ultimate nationalistic duty to patronize and to
thrive our own cultural beliefs so that the future generations may still inherit what we
originally have-- traditional cultures and conservative beliefs. We must be proponents
in advocating our own customs, because at the end of the day, we are all Filipinos,
and this will only be the identity that we will forever live.
