1. Go to [Link], the website for McDonalds. Review “Our Story.” Next,


under “careers,” click on “training and education” and “Hamburger University.” Watch the
video on “college credit connections.” Answer the following questions:

a. Does Hamburger University support the company’s business? Explain why or why
not.
 McDonald’s has received tons of support from Hamburger University since the
start of its existence. Hamburger University was very innovative because it had
been the primary university to specialise in that sort of business. Every other
university tried to achieve Hamburger University’s success since it was
benefitting McDonald’s in every aspect. This University focuses on training its
students from making a perfect hamburger to learn how to manage a franchise
like McDonald’s. One of the explanations why McDonald’s has become so
successful is because Hamburger University has contributed in many various
ways; from making the workers be more efficient to becoming more creative in
the business.

b. Identify the learning resources available at Hamburger University and how they
contribute to the business strategy.
 There are two types of learning resources, one of them is based on practice rather
than theory so basically students learn how to do things by actually doing them.
The other one would be the basic education where students listen to a teacher and
they have exams.

2. Find a company’s annual report by using the Internet or visiting a library. Using the annual
report, do the following:
a. Identify the company’s mission, values, and goals.
 MCDONALDS mission is to serve the Filipino community by providing great-
tasting food food and the most relevant customer delight experience.
 MCDONALDS vision First to respond to the fast changing needs of the Filipino
Family.
 MCDONALDS goal are to serve good food in a friendly and fun environment, to
be a socially responsible company and provide good returns to their shareholders.
McDonald's customers are mainly teenagers and kids. The company aims to
provide its customers with food of a high standard, quick service and value for
money.

b. Find any information provided in the report regarding the company’s training practices and
how they relate to the goals and strategies.
 The objectives of training initiatives taken by McDonald’s are aligned with
business strategies. From the organizational perspective, this represents a
successful and on-going initiative. Most importantly, the results can be seen in
feeding through to levels of customer satisfaction. This is essential for a corporate
goal of creating value around the employees, a measurable value and a sense of
competitive differentiation, or as McDonalds says, ‘unlocking the power of our
people’. HR functions have always served as a supporting tool to the strategic
levels. The design and implementation of the strategic option chosen by the
company depends fundamentally on the human factor.
