1. Is the Philippines ready for the development of NIS in its country?
= The Philippines is not ready for the development of NIS in its country, in every hospital we could
see with our own eyes that not every hospital is capable of embracing such changes. In line with this
pandemic, if the government can’t supply PPE’s, alcohol and any other medical equipment needed in
treating this disease then where would they get the budget for NIS.
2. Can a new BSN graduate qualify as one of the team members in the NIS department of a
hospital? Why?
= A new BSN graduate can qualify as one of the team members in the NIS department of a hospital
because it is in their new curriculum. They have been taught and they have practiced applying the
changes in technology brought by the Nursing Informatics for a half of an academic school year.

PART 2
5 Issues related to utilization of NIS in the country:
1. Inclusion of NI in the national budget- is a crucial process of government financial capacity
NI application is not the first priority for there are superior problems that should be given
main concern. It is costly to train nurses on the use of the program for electronic
documentation and buying the machines and devices needed for NI will cost huge money.
2. Education about NI- Even though it is already part of the new curriculum, the country still
lacks instructors that are major in informatics and also nursing schools are still in the edge of
imagining/assuming of technology used in Nursing Informatics.
3. Environmental Awareness of the Clinical Practitioners- Many nurses struggle in practice as
they continue to try and apply habitual communication practices in the new environment
without any adaptation of the said practices.
4. Computer Illiteracy of the Nurses- Most nurses in the Philippines started with the use of paper
method, and does not have to understand the means of using a computer. One of the main
causes why some nurses in the Philippines are computer illiterate is because the country lacks
the machines and devices.
5. Two Generations of People- Another challenge is that, the young ones are people that think
differently and the old ones are the ones that are being pushed by the young ones out of their
practice. Implementing this new technological advancement in the Philippines would be very
hard for the senior nurses in the country.
