In order to create a list of props without missing anything, we went through the storyboard
shot by shot and used a second post-it note to write which props will be needed for that shot
and location. Each prop is representative of that character and is linked to their personalities
and traits.
Each character has main props and minor props. The main props are ensured to be visible in
the film opening, while the minor props will be in the background to hint at the character's
personality and lifestyle. Although the main props are vital, minor props are also important
as they fill the room and attract attention from the audience.
It is important that all the props seen in the opening are there intentionally as any
unintentional props seen in the frame may mislead the audience about the character.

Stacey's Props
Stacey's room consists of a variety of props that both tend to her false, popular image and her
true, nerdy identity. This hints at the twist of the storyline and allows the audience to make a
connection with the plot.
Eclipse Calendar (minor prop)
The reason this prop is minor is because the character will not directly interact with this
object in the film opening. We decided to use this as a prop as it shows the audience that
Stacey is a feminine and romantic character, as Eclipse is part of vampire romance saga. This
suggests that she has romantic aspirations and is a typical smitten teenager. This prop caters
to Stacey's popular identity.
Alarm Clock (main prop)
The reason this prop is main is because the character will directly interact with this object in
the film opening, and is seen switching off the alarm. We decided to use this as a prop as it
shows the rough time the opening is set in and shows that it's the beginning of a new day. An
alarm clock also denotes a schedule or routine that is kept to by setting an alarm. This prop
caters to Stacey's geeky identity as the shape resembles a rocket shape or technical
contraption.
Make-Up, Brush and Straightener (main props)
The reason these props are main is because the character will directly interact with these
objects in the film opening, and will be applying make-up and brushing/straightening her
hair as part of her every day routine. We decided to use these as props as they show the effort
the character puts into creating a false complexion and demonstrate her fake 'Barbie' side.
These props clearly cater to Stacey's popular identity.
Toiletries (minor props)
The reason these props are minor is because the character will not directly interact with
these objects in the film opening, and are not guaranteed to be visible in the frame. We
decided to use these as props as it shows the effort the character puts into creating a
beautiful complexion and demonstrate her feminine side. These props clearly cater to
Stacey's popular identity.
Films, Music and Novels (minor props)
The reason these props are minor is because the character will not directly interact with
these objects in the film opening. The films are very girly and romantic, and appeal to
Stacey's feminine side, further suggesting she has romantic desires. This prop caters to
Stacey's popular identity. The CD's are a combination of up-beat and rap style music. This
represents her popular and chavvy side as a stereotypical geek would not listen to this type of
music. The fact that Stacey reads immediately appeals to her nerdy identity. There is a
combination of romance and horror novels, which appeal to both her feminine, romantic
side and her geeky side, portraying both personalities.
Jewellery (minor props)
The reason this prop is minor is because the character will not directly interact with this
object in the film opening, and is not guaranteed to be visible in the frame. We decided to use
this as a prop as it shows the effort the character puts into creating a beautiful complexion
and it demonstrates her feminine side. This prop caters to Stacey's popular identity.
Cuddly Toys (minor props)
The reason these props are minor is because the character will not directly interact with
these objects in the film opening. We decided to use these props as they show the soft and
cuddly side of Stacey and demonstrate her feminine side. These props cater to Stacey's
popular identity.
Decorations (minor props)
The reason these props are minor is because the character will not directly interact with
these objects in the film opening. We decided to use these as props as the subtly hint at the
girly and feminine side of Stacey through pink colours and flowery items. These props cater
to Stacey's popular identity.
Duvet and Pillows (main props)
The reason these props are main is because the character will directly interact with these
objects in the film opening, and will be first scene getting out of bed ready to start the day.
We decided to use this as a prop as it subtly hints at the girly and feminine side of Stacey
through pink colours and flowery items. These props cater to Stacey's popular identity.
School Bag (main prop)
The reason this prop is main is because the character will directly interact with this object in
the film opening, and will be seen with it in and around school. We decided to use this as a
prop as it is a designer handbag and shows status and reputation. It is also appeals to her
feminine side as the bag is pink and girly, and contributes to her popular disguise. This prop
caters to Stacey's popular identity.
Miscellaneous Shelving and Carpet (minor props)
Both props are seen as minor as the character does not interact with either of them. The
carpet intentionally has make-up stains across it and denotes that the character has been
using make-up as part of her disguise for a long time. The shelving will consist of feminine
props like books, jewellery and cuddly toys to further demonstrate Stacey's feminine side.
Both props cater to Stacey's popular and false identity.
Mirrors (main prop)
These props are essential to the opening as they portray Stacey's vanity and self-loving.
These props are main as the character will be using them to apply make-up and straighten
her hair. These props reflect Stacey's popular and false character.

The type of music Bob may listen to is rock and soft rock type of music. This reflects his more

important as they represent Bob's nerdy identity.
Lava Lamp (minor prop)
The lava lamp shows the scientific and fascinating side to his geeky personality, referring to
the stereotypical scientific nerd. This may or not be framed in the film opening.

important as it reflects Bob's 'gamer' characteristics and caters to his nerdy identity.

audience that he is an organised and logical character.

completing homework in the film opening. His homework will consist of an A level maths
book and maths worksheets. This prop denotes Stu's intelligence and uneventful personality.

It is undecided whether this prop will be present or not in the opening sequence. The pen pot
represents Stu's organisation and tidiness.

and show that he is a calm and collective character. The DVDs will consist of
a knowledgeable box set, such as Planet Earth, as it expresses his interest in the natural
world. On the other hand, DVDs such as Star Wars would also be present as his character is
know for having an unhealthy obsession with the films. Both props cater to Stu's intelligent
side and nerdy identity.
Pocket Calculator and Pen (minor prop)
Once again, this prop represents Stu's organised characteristics. This prop may or may not
be filmed.
Decor (main props)
At some point, Stu looks out his window in boredom. His room is mainly white and cream,
showing simplicity and a lack of personalization. It is also very clean and represents his
germaphobic and OCD characteristics. White also has strong connotations of innocence and
purity.
Calculator Watch (main prop)
Stu is seen glancing impatiently at his high-tech calculator watch in the film opening. The
watch overall is very geeky looking and has a nerdy function of being a calculator as well.
This reflects Stu's intelligent and organised side.
School Bag (main prop)
For Stu's bag, we are considering a bag that either addresses his nerdy side with some kind of
game-relative design, or his professional side like a plain, leather bag. This prop will be main
as he will be seen carrying it to school.

This is a main prop as he will be seen wearing his school bag to school in the film opening.
____________________________________
Logos and trademarks will not be shown in our film opening for copyright reasons, but are
presented in our list of props. Some images were collected from the internet. This is because
we may be borrowing props from friends and do not have them in hand to take pictures of
them.
Some props, such as Tom's Superman belt and Bob's glasses, have been left out of the props
list. This is because they are classified as more of costume accessories as opposed to props.
Although items such as socks and fingerless gloves are described as props, they are
less noticeable and need justification as to why we are using them.
